They changed beds in the middle of my stay. They had one meant for bypass patients but one was not available for the first few days.
My four day stay was actually very pleasant. The nurses on 9 South were the best. I never had to wait more than 2 minutes after pushing the call button. The staff was always very helpful, and extremely efficient.
Was very surprised and pleased at how friendly and attentive everyone was at the hospital. From the admitting clerk to the nursing staff, everyone was super.
My DR and his asistant were wonderful. The people in X-ray for the barium tests were idiots. The night nurses were incompitent. I thank God my wife was there to get me the help I needed at night.
Much of the equipment is donated so things like glucometers are slow and huge.
The staff knew that I was on paxil but I was not given my daily dose. As A consequence I was well into withdrawal symptoms when I got home. This was terrifying. The overall experience is colored by the anxiety this caused!
The staff (my surgeon and his people EXCLUDED!) were terrible. They mis-dosed medications, when I ended up in the ICU because of this (morphine over-dose) I was not cared for. I was not bathed and was left to sit in my own filth for days, though constantly being promissed I'd be bathed later. I ended up with a bed sore because of this. When I was finally admitted to a regular room, the toliet was broken and for two days I was using it as is, unable to flush it. The room was dirty, the nurses didn't care and didn't listen when I told them that I was very senstive to pain meds and not to give me such high doses. I cannot believe that a hospital so highly spoken of could turn out to be a SLUM!!!! I'd avoid this place like the plague!!!
