I thought he was quiet and looked better in person than in his online picture. He has warmed up and talks a little more now than the first time I met him. Everyone in his office is very nice. I didn't dislike any thing about my doctor. I think he is a good doctor and a nice person. If your thinking about having surgery with this doctor I would say your in good hands. After care is great. I go in for my follow up visits and since WLS I developed gall stones and had to have surgery. Dr. Henderson did this surgery also. I rate this doctor a 9. If rating his bedside manner it might be a 7 just because he doesn't talk a lot.
I will be meeting him for the first time on 3-4-04! So far his staff have been WONDERFUL! Everyone that I ve spoken to have spoken HIGHLY of him and his staff! I will give another update later on! I have a surgery date of 3-15-04!
**3-5-04--Met Dr. Henderson and Sandra! Both are very knowledgeable and kind! Really feel at peace about my surgery now! They both were very imformative and helpful! The office staff were also informative and eager to assist! Pre op and post op are highly emphasized along with your support system! All risks were told upfront without surgar coating! All were easy to talk to! I feel like Ive made the correct choice by choosing them to perform my surgery! I highly recommend them!
I had already choosen Dr Henderson when I met him at an infromation meeting.I must say I was very impressed with the presentation as well as him.In my research I had found his credentials to meet my requirements as well as those of my PCP.It was very reasssuring to have the decision that I made to have him do the surgery to be re affirmed when i met him .he aswered every question I had with thouroughness and was very professional.I also found him to have quite a sense of humor.Sometimes I related to a DR as an old OR nurse and sometimes as a patient. He met both expectations without a hitch,Gis PA and his office staff are super.
Haven't met the Doc yet, still waiting Insurance Approval. But have been talking to Regina & Cheryl they seem really nice and helpful.
1/28/04 Met with Dr. Henderson today, seems very straight forward about how the procedure will be done and what is expected of me as a patient.Explained how the followups will go, and what to expect while I'm in the hospital each day how it will progress before I go home.I am very pleased so far.
02/23/04 Well I have to say I never been treated so kind and had the staffs attention anywhere I've ever been like this Doctor's office. Dr Henderson , Dr. Kent & Sandra where so nice and right by my side when I went back in with complications. Dr. Kent & Sandra stayed with me most of the afternoon and into late evening trying to find out what was wrong. If they only new how much that meant to me as a patient. I felt totally secure in thier care. Just can't express How I feel in words alone.Hope they continue to have this attitude with all thier patients, if so they'll go far. Great Bedside manner!
I haven't met him yet I have an appointment on November 12, 2003. I have heard good things about him.
My first impression of Dr. Henderson was that he was a quiet, nice person. My impression of him has not changed accept that he is very caring. His office staff is great and his PA Sandra is the best. Dr. Henderson emphasizes that aftercare is extremely important to us getting better and losing weight. His aftercare program isn't all that structured or hard. It is pretty straight forward and much easier to follow than other doctors I have seen. I believe that Dr. Henderson's surgical competence is excellant, he is a brilliant man and his bedside manner is great. I couldn't believe how many times in the day that he came and visited with me while I was in the hospital. Overall my experience with Dr. Henderson was(is) a 10.
I have been very impressed with his staff. They have everything all set up since I already knew for sure that I wanted this surgery. So I will meet him the first time on Dec. 4,2003 and surgery on Dec. 8, 2003.
I met with Dr. Henderson and his staff on Dec. 4,2003 and I really like all of them. Then seem very knowledgeable and compentant.
I feel very secure knowing he is the one to be my surgeon. They have taken every caution to make sure everyting will go well.
I went for my 1 month post-op check-up today Jan.5,2004. I am very pleased with my choice of surgeon. I have lost 25 lbs.and am feeling good. I got a good report they said I was right on where I should be.
I have only met my surgeon twice so far. Both times have been in informal support group/information sessions. Both times I was able to ask him questions and I felt that he really took the time to answer them thoroughly. I will not have my first appointment with him until sometime in the begining of February. However, over the last few months I have spoken with both Regina and Cheryl on the phone several times and they have been wonderful. They have taken the time to answer my questions and they have always done so with care and compassion.
When I first learned of Dr. Henderson one of the most common things that I heard was that he doesnt talk alot but if you ask him questions he will answer them. Well so far I have only seen that to be half true. Yes, he answers questions but he seems to volunteer a great deal of information. He didnt give the impression that he needed to be asked.
One of the things that he has stressed the most in these meetings is aftercare. Dr. Henderson refers his patients to the same nutritionist so that we are all on the same page as to what we need to be doing post op. However, these are all things that we are just talking about right now. One of the negative things that I have heard/read about this practice is that his aftercare program needs some fine tuning and work. But until I am post op I will not know for myself.
Dr. Henderson is very blunt about the risks involved with this surgery. However, he does balance the facts the his personal stats and the fact that he has not had a 30 post-op mortality to date really speaks for itself.
Overall I would rate him with very high marks. I will update this when I am "on the other side" and I have had more time to spend with him. As far as the quesiton posed...wich is better, surgical competence or bedside manner...Again, I do not know the answer to that since I am still pre-op. But both are very important to me and I do hold both of those to high standards..so we will see where the cards fall in a few weeks.
Dr. Henderson seems to be a very nice doctor. He seems caring and informed. His practice is alittle regimented, but I'm sure this is due to the volume of patients that they see on a daily basis. I liked Dr. Henderson but felt that I could talk more freely with his PA, Sandra Setzer. She is a wonderful person with a great personality. She makes you feel that she has all the time in the world for your questions. I am perhaps alittle intimidated by the "MD". I had alittle bit of trouble with pain medication making me sick in the beginning of my being back at home and do feel like I had to pitch a little fit to get the office to understand where I was coming from. This was upsetting. On the other hand, the office has been very accomodating when it comes to my husbands work hours and giving me later appointments. Actually, I would have to search high and low to find anything bad about this office, they have their act together and it is very reassuring.
dr henderson is very nice , straight forward, and easy to talk to.open to all questions.
the office staff i've met so far is great, very helpful and never make me feel like a bother ( since i've called quite a few times!)
i don't know a whole lot about dr. henderson yet, having only met him once so far at a question and answer session.
he puts a great emphasis on after care, and support groups.he was very open and honest about the risks of the surgery.
