Dr. Houston and Holly are great. He really wants to help you reach your goals. If you do not lose like you think DO NOT STOP going to see them. The Visits help get you back on track. No he does not fuss at you. Doc talks to you and finds out what is going on with you and what can be done to get you back on track. I recomend him to everyone that ask "What have you do to lose weight?"

Professional, young, honest.

I recognized his caring nature behind his professionalism.
Friendly, helpful, kind, caring.

He's a little quiet at times, but he listens well and answers questions readily.

He is an excellent surgeon with a clean technique and I'm very impressed with his skills.
He strongly emphasizes aftercare and insists on aftercare participation.
Yes
He lays it out in laymans terms the risk and
benefits of the surgery and active follow up
Above excellent

He has very good bedside manner, but I am extremely impressed with his surgical competence. I am an RN and I researched and prayed for a fine surgeon and I sure found one of the best that I've seen in a long time.

He took alot of time at our consultation and explained everything thoroughly, including risks. He had a good sense of humor about some personal situation that happened while we were in his office. He was very professional at the same time. He has one nurse who is very busy but kind and caring. I did think it odd that while I was in the hospital that he never looked at my incisions. Then I thought how much trust he has in his nursing staff in the hospital. They probably gave hime a report and he didn't feel the need to follow behind them. I was VERY, VERY thankful that he does not send patients home with the drain ports from the incisions. I told him by doing so, I was able to immediately be more active and that I started walking on the treadmill the day I got home from the hospital. He was able to work around some scar tissue that I had and performed the sugery laproscopically. What a relief to wake up and find that out. I would definitely recommend Dr. Houston to anyone seeking this surgery!!

VERY NICE, VERY GOOD BED SIDE MANNER, PROFESSIONAL, AND MADE ME FEEL AT EASE.

MORE AT EASE.

HIS LADY THAT DOES THE INSURANCE, WAS NOT GOOD TO CALL ME BACK FOR DAYS AND DAYS AND SOMETIME NEVER. BUT HOLLY HIS ASSISTANT WAS GREAT. I DIDN'T NOT LIKE HIM AT ALL, LIKED HIM ALOT. HE IS NICE, PROFESIONAL AND DOWN TO EARTH. HE EMPHASIZED AFTERCARE ALOT, MET WITH THE DIETICIAN AND SHE WAS VERY NICE AND FULL OF INFORMATION. THEY ALSO GIVE YOU A COMPLETE NOTEBOOK, OF THINGS TO EXPECT, WHAT AND WHEN NOT TO EAT AND WHEN TO EAT AND WHAT. HE DID EXPLAIN THAT WITH ANY MAJOR SURGERY THERE ARE RIST AND EXPLAINED THAT 1 IN 200 DIE, A LITTLE SCARY, BUT I AM A BELIEVER THAT IF IT IS MY TIME TO GO, I AM GOING NO MATTER WHERE I AM. I RATE HIM OVERALL AND VERY GOOD. I FEEL THAT SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS THE BEST, BUT I FEEL TO BE A GREAT DOCTOR, YOU NEED BOTH.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING I CAN SAY, IS THAT THE GIRLS THAT MAKE THE INTITAL CONTACT WITH YOU NEED TO FOLLOW UP BETTER AND COMMUNICATE, AND NOT HAVE YOU BE THE ONE CALLING AND CALLING. NEEDS TO CLEAN HOUSE AND GET ONES THAT WILL DO THE JOB.

There are nothing but good things to say about Dr. Houston and his staff at Centennial. I had 3 friends at work who had Dr. Houston as their surgeon. They each loved him, and his staff...and so do I.

Dr. Houston was extremely informative of the benefits and the dangers of the surgery during my consultation. He was also up front with me about the fact that it was not going to be easy, and it would take a lot of hard work and dedication to the program to meet my goal. I liked the fact that he was honest about those things.

The aftercare program at the Center for the Treatment of Obesity at Centennial Medical Center is the most comprehensive I have yet to see. Believe me, I really did my research before choosing Dr. Houston. I even looked into going to Dallas! Attending seminars and getting information from the surgeons you are considering is extremely important! I can't emphasize that enough to any of you out there contemplating this life-changing surgery. Of course, in my opinion, you need look no further than Dr. Houston, or any of his collegues.

I was able to meet Dr. Houston and his wife at a Christmas party that was sponsored by the Center. His wife told me that she prays for each of the patients on the morning of their surgery. I cannot tell you the peace that I felt after that. Dr. Houston also said that his patients are not just his patients, but become his family. I honestly believe that, and know that no matter how professionally trained a person is that God guides them every day in their profession. Having a wife that backs that up every morning with prayer is powerful. (Dr. Houston-if you ever read this...thank you for that!)

When I began my search for a surgeon, bedside manner is not something I really looked for in a surgeon. I chose Dr. Houston based on the research I had done, and the referral of 3 people I know that had him as their surgeon. Bedside manner was a bonus with Dr. Houston. I felt as if I was talking to a friend rather than a doctor. He communicates very well with his patients.

I feel that Dr. Houston is very knowledgeable, open and honest as a surgeon. I chose him because he did a fellowship in bariatric surgery and felt that he would be the most up-to-date and prepared surgeon for me. I look forward to working with him.
5 days pot-op: I can tell you that I could not have picked a better surgeon. He did an excellent job on me. I have had very little post-op pain, no nausea/vomiting. I have had no complications, not even a post-op fever which is common after any surgery. He is very nice and answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns before leaving the hospital. I would recommend him to anyone considering the surgery. His nurse Holly is awesome as well. She took care of any issue I had in a timely manner. His bedside manner was warm and concerned and he made me feel at ease about the whole thing.

My first meeting with Dr. Houston was very informative. After he discussed the entire process of the RNY I ask him why he chose to specialize in Bariatric surgery and his response was "because of patients like you that are committed to improve their quality of life"!! Holly who is Dr. Houston's office assistant has been very helpful. Had to prompt the insurance specialist to process my pre-auth; i.e.-getting her my insurance fax number etc..
Since I live 4 hours from Nashville, Dr. Houston will have me stay an extra day and this was comforting-my insurance has approved 5 inpatient days for this surgery.

Dr. Hugh Houston is a wonderful surgeon that has made such a difference in both mine and my husband's life. He did both mine and my husband's surgery. Every office visit we have been treated great by his assistance Ms. Holly. She has been so helpful with paperwork and scheduling. Dr. Houston always emphasizes aftercare. He encourages us to attend support groups, to meet with the dietician and to excercise. He is willing to answer any questions that we have and very encouraging. I would have to rate Dr. Houston a 15 on a scale of 10. His excellant surgical skills are only outweighed by his compassion for his patients.

Dr. Houston and his nurse Holly have been great. He is really interested in you knowing everything about the surgery. He really talks alot about the aftercare and follow-ups.

Had surgery and never had any problems. The staff at CMC and Dr. Houston were wonderful.I just kept the pain button 1 day and hardly used it then. Went back for 1 week checkup and had lost 29 lbs. since Nov. 23. Had surgery Nov. 30. Today is Dec. 14 and I still feel great. I walk at least 30 minutes everyday.

I LOVED Dr. Houston from the very first time that I met him. He spent 2 hours with me and my mom at my consult. He answered every question that I had and even the ones that I didn't! His assistant Holly is GREAT! She was very patient with me when I was trying to pick my surgery date. Seems like every date that I picked something was going on within the office or someone else was scheduled that day and vice versa. But I finally got the date scheduled!!!! I'm 3 weeks out and have lost 23 pounds. I had the Lap Gastric By-Pass and haven't had a whole lot of trouble. Nauseated at times and can't seem to get all my protein in some days but I'm hanging in there and TRYING!! The Center has a GREAT aftercare program and I'm going to my first meeting next Tuesday. Dr. Houston and his staff are very demanding about going to the Aftercare Programs and I'm sure it will all pay off! I would recommend Dr. Houston to anyone that is considering having surgery! They kept my family updated during surgery and he visited my room several times after surgery. Not only is he a GREAT surgeon he's a GREAT person who truly cares about ALL his patients!!!!!!!
