'Dr. Houston is very straight forward and that is exactly what I needed in a surgeon. He never sugar coats anything or beats around the bush. His office staff is also great! I can call or e-mail at anytime of the day and they are always there. I would highly recommend Dr. Houston to anyone in Nashville

My first impression of Dr. Houston was that he was very informed. He put me and my husband completely at ease about the surgery. He answered all of the questions we had and even some we didnt' think of. Everything was explained very well and we feel like we won't have any surprises. He is very straight forward and honest. He lets you know that this is JUST a tool and you have to be willing to do the work to help it work. He can't make you eat right or exercise but he's not gonna feel sorry for you either if you don't and as a result don't lose weight. Overall I would give him a 9.
My first impression of Dr. Houston was he is very straight forward. I was very impressed with how considerate he was and how he stressed the importance of aftercare. Dr. Houston seems to be the right surgeon for me. All the staff was wonderful from Kathy at the front desk to Holly. Everyone treated you with respect and a very kind heart. I look forward to seeing each and everyone of them several more times and for years to come.
Dr. Houston is the one who did the seminar I attended in in August 2005. He is very upfront, but is also nice. He will get you on your 1% milk and ask you what is wrong with skim. He explains that even though you may not like the taste of FF at first, you become used to it and then everything else taste too sweet. He was great after the surgery, praised when drank that nasty protein shake, reminded to get fluids in, even made me smile when he tripped over rocking chair. He is your doctor, but he is a nice person too. He wants you to go to support groups, big time. He stresses that you cannot succeed without support.
Office = has large comfy chairs, everyone is the nicest from Holly to Gena to Lisa and Cheryl in insurance. They are all willing to give you a hug when you need it. Jill-dietician, is also very nice and is great in giving samples. Love the chocolate calcium tablets. They are my favorite, cinnamon is ok, mint is very mint. Protein drinks for stage 1= get the alpine punch at GNC, has least amount of chalky taste.

He was a wonderful doctor. He knew what he was doing and answered all of my questions that i had. He has a wonderful aftercare program and Holly is wonderful to work with. He let me know the risks up front and the main thing was i had to quit smoking then or else he wouldn't do the surgery. I would rate him as a 10. He was right to the point which i liked. Holly is the best nurse ever. If i had to do it all over again i would no doubt. I feel so much better all ready. I am 2 months post op and have already lost 30lbs. I would rate Dr. Houston and his staff on a scale from 1-10 i would give them a 10.
Dr. Houston was very professional and very friendly at my surgical consultation. I was impressed with the way he explained everything so thoroughly. He took his time and was willing to answer any questions I had. Holly and all the office staff have been so kind and helpful through this whole process. I haven't had my surgery yet, but so far I would highly recommed Dr. Houston and his staff.
My First impression of Dr Houston was that he was very attractive and very to the point. I like a doctor who will take time to speak with you if you have questions but it very to the point and does not sugar coat things or use terms that they know you will have absolutely no idea what they just said. Dr Houston was the perfect doctor for me.
The staff was friendly and courteous. I was a cash patient so I only met with Dr Houston and staff one time before my surgery.
Dr Houston was very careful to make sure that I understood all of the risks as well as all of the benefits of surgery.
I am not sure that every person would say that Dr Houston has a great bed side manner because in this like all else different people need different things from there doctor but once again I will say Dr. Houston was the perfect doctor for me.
The day that I went to schedule my surgery, I was so nervous, but also very excited. My first impression of Dr. Houston was fabulous. He was genuinelly concerned about my health and well-being. Dr. Houston made me feel at ease from the moment he walked in the door. I liked his sense of humor and the fact that he was young and fresh. Being only twenty years old, I was scared of gastric bypass surgery, but I was even more scared that I might not see my 30th birthday at the rate I was gaining weight. Even though he informed me of the realities and risks of this surgery, he also made me feel at ease because I could tell that he was a gifted physician. After meeting and talking with him for over an hour, I totally trusted him with my life and future.
I saw him one more time before my surgery, when I went to early register at the hospital the week before my surgery. Dr. Houston was just as nice and reassuring as he had been on my first appointment with him. The day of my surgery, as I was being prepped for surgery, he was very calming and friendly. After my surgery, he has been nothing but outstanding. His aftercare is terrific. Dr. Houston really keeps you on the right track.
Dr. Houston's office staff is fabulous. I couldn't have asked for a better group to do my surgery. Oh, and Holly---she is FABULOUS!!! I absolutely love Holly. I feel as if I have known her forever. Since many of the office staff has had the surgery theirselves, they truly understand the care that the patients need.
I can't rate Dr. Houston because I can't put a number on the amazing way he changed my life. All I can say is that I wouldn't change a thing! Thank you for giving me my life back, Dr. Houston!!! ~Katie Harwell
Dr. Houston is wonderful! He takes as much time as needed to make sure his patient understands each type of surgery performed, what is involved and the risks taken. He is a very kind gentleman. I was given a "magic notebook" at my initial visit after the surgery had been approved. Acquaintances who had had surgery done elsewhere were not given anything as thorough as our "magic notebook" Everyone I have encountered at the Center has been most helpful. His assistant, Hollie has been wonderful! His aftercare program is extremely structured. Both his bedside manner and his surgical competence are superior! I would recommend Dr. Houston and his staff and support team with no reservations! I am,as of today, only 4 days after surgery and doing great! None of my acquaintances can believe how great I am doing! This is my third day at home!
