What strikes you first about Dr. Houston is that he really knows what he is doing. Almost brings a fighter pilot type of confidence to the surgery, to the process, etc. Very competent, I have had no complications from the surgery and he has done a fantastic job. He strikes me as someone extremely busy building a practice, which affects his bedside manner a bit. Reminds me too much of myself as I run my business. So busy running things that I am not taking enough time to listen. For a person running a business, that effects employee relations. In this case, it is bedside manner. He is extremely responsive, extremely competent and I would recommend him to anyone that wants the best surgeon.
I met Dr. Houston for the second time during my surgery consultation on 11/01/06. What really impressed me was his interest in me personally. When he walked in I was reading a National Geographic article on the deepest cave in the world and I told him I was just reading about something I was in love with. He asked me what and we proceeded to have a ten minute conversation about caving. Then he said, \"Well, I guess we need to talk about surgery, huh?\" It was great to feel that he truly was interested in not just my surgery but in me as a person. He explained everything to my husband in detail and answered all our questions. His staff is awesome, very sweet and polite and genuinely interested in me. The office have a great aftercare program and support services so I feel I am in great hands. Dr. Houston explained the risks of the surgery very matter of factly. I can honestly say that the only thing I didn't like, and this is so minor it's almost a nothing, was that he did get a call during our session and seemed to lose his train of thought when he came back. But he had already answered all our questions so it was not upsetting or anything. Overall, I would have to rate Dr. Houston at a 9.75...pretty darn great!!! I truly feel that both surgical competence and bedside manner are almost equal in importance as far as making someone feel good about their choice and I really do feel good! I feel that I am in the best program I could be in!

Dr. Houston is a wonderful surgeon. The first time that I met him I knew that he would be the one to do my surgery. My Surgery date was June 1, 2005, and to this day he has looked out for my well being from that first visit. As far as his staff goes, he couldn't have a better staff. Holly is a wonderful person and has become a dear friend to me over the past year. Andrea is a kind and caring person and very bubbly. I would recommend Dr Houston to ANYONE that is thinking about having the surgery. He is very well informed and very professional, but also kind and caring individual. I counln't ask for a better surgeon, especially after all the bull that I have put him thru over the past year. <lol> All I have to say is THANKS for always being there for me and always returning my calls when I thought I was going out of my mind !! But THANKS seems like so little to say. Words can't describe what I feel for Dr. Houston and his staff. They are as Tina Turner would say \"Simply The Best\"
I met Dr. Houston at the seminar. He was filled with knowledge that seemed to just flow out. He didn't have to think about what to say; it all came so natural. I could tell that he loved his profession and felt good about helping people change their lives. rnrn*Update on Dr. Houston... he's not just a consulting surgeon in my life now. He is my surgeon and held my hand (though not literally of course) til I made it to the loser's side. I had all confidence in him and he made sure I was doing my part before allowing me to leave the hospital after surgery. He makes sure you are ready to go and that you understand the importance of drinking and protein.rnrnCheryl was really sweet. She met me out in the lobby of the office to get all of my records and was so friendly. I was able to ask questions about the insurance process and she actually cared whether I got the approval. rnrnHolly was great, too. She tried to get the closest date possible and is so friendly. She does a good job at holding the office together and will tell you that if there is anything, anything that they can do to make things better, please let them know...

He was very informative, intelligent, confident, professional and 'easy on the old eyes'. Now that's a plus!!! He stressed the importance of aftercare and all of the aspects/risks of this surgery. I was impressed as he took a long time to talk to me and answer all of my questions/concerns and filling me in with what to expect. Dr. Houston, there is no charge for this advertisement : ))
My husband and I went to speak with Dr. Houston & Holly. I was so comfortable with speaking with them. It was a reality of my dream finally coming true. rnHe explained in length the pro's & con's of the surgery. We went over my medical history and medications carefully. He believes in aftercare- the counceling, keeping in contact fro life. I would rate him a 100 A+ !!! I feel his surgical competence is above average, he is kind and interested in my welfare as a patient. I was delighted to meet he and Holly.

Dr. Houston and Holly were great at my first appointment. Holly made me feel very comfortable and was wonderful to deal with. I dont think I have ever met a person that nice on the first visit to a new doctor. Dr. Houston was great as well. He gave me all the information that I needed. You can tell that he really enjoys what he is doing. He puts you at ease but is still firm in telling you what to expect and what he expects from you. I knew that he was the surgeon for me!
