Dr. Snyder is so professional and competent, and yet so empathetic and warm with obese people. He knows our suffering and he is on our side. His training and experience are impeccable. I trust him with my life. I know no one is perfect, but I really don't have anything to say negative about Dr. Snyder. Even his office staff are all helpful and kind.

April 27, 2003
Wow - its been a long time. Well my struggles with my foot gractures continued - GOt the cast off the end of May - foot began hurint again end of September. Contacted my "foot" doc in Oct. - - resceduled - rescheduled - had to find new doc - my had developed severe MS - had to close his practice - - new doc - cast back on - 7 weeks - when off - told LIMIT excercise! Had qualitative CT - osteoporosis - had Dexascan - "normal bones" - QCT is to be more definitive - then my gen. pract. doc had QCT - showed him as OP - he believes "operator error". . . so the saga continues.

I will be 21 months pos-op on May 14, 2003. I should be to goal weight (150) by then. I hope to reach 130 or so.

I do have lots of hanging skin - still on "light exercise orders" due to foot - (esp. since I'm a nurse and walk alot at work.)

I will be moving to the other end of the state in 5-6 weeks. Have not sold current home - - daughter is graduating - - long-distance relationship with husband (he moved in Jan. 2003) - - father-in-law still fighting lung cancer - - etc.... lots of stressors going.

Otherwise life is great!. I have gone from a snug 28/30 down to an 8 in relaxed fix jeans - sometimes a 10. If dresses are cut real snug through hips sometimes a 12. I am in "medium" uniforms and almost to "smalls". Less than 2 years ago I couldn't hardly find uniforms because 3x were way to tight!

I will never be able to thank Dr. Snyder enough for this change
in my life. I can go anywhere and "fit" into any chairs .....

My only problem is adjusting to being thin . . . I still have a hard time realizing I can get between close setting chairs in restaurants. . . If climbing over chairs. or up/down bleachers - I still have a hard time balancing - I want to balance my movements as though I still weigh over 300 pounds.

I really have a hard time when co-workers state - How does it feel to be wearing "skinny jeans?" I still do not think of myself as being thin (I not not heart healthy BMI yet...)

Again, thank you to Dr. Snyder - You are my lifesaver!

I met Dr. Snyder last week. He was great. He truly is empathetic with those of us who are obese. After reviewing my paperwork, he stated he believes I have six or seven co-morbidities which may be improved or completely eliminated with weightloss. He is very active in the bariatric society, which to me is a plus since he keeps current on the most recent trends and information out there. I appreciated the fact that he treated me with respect and dignity - - which is not always the case when dealing with surgeons. My husband went to the appointment with me. We both felt like he was quite knowledgeable and self assured without being on the God ego trip. In fact, he told me husband about a book which he recommended to help my husband shed some of his extra pounds (we did purchase the book). Dr. Snyder spends alot on pre-op education - he sends you a book to read, you must attend one of his seminars, and I've been told there is test you must take before you actually have surgery - he reviews the tests and discusses any questions you miss so you are well informed. He states he consideres us part of his "family" and gives each patient his office number and his personal pager number - WOW! He does anticipate a lenghty follow-up program because as he says - he's our coach and he's responisble to "coach" us through the difficult times and to give us the game plan so we can all be winners.

Dr. Snyher's staff is wonderful also. Brenda and Beth both were in attendance at his seminar. He picks a great office staff and he hand picks his OR team so patients are only worked on by the best. I think Dr. Snyder is just great. (By the way, one of surgery techs who works at St. Anthony's was there with her Surgery Tech students, she also thinks Dr. Snyder is wonderful.)

The way negative - he's waiting for new office chairs - the current ones are not exactly comfy for his bariatric patients.

Dr. Snyder is a very nice man and seems to really care about me getting the weight off.
His secretary was really nice and a very peaceful office too.
He kind of talked a bit fast, so I have some more questions to ask him.

Dr. Chae is a wonderful surgeon. I have been in the medical field myself for 13+ years as an X-ray tech. Ive worked in 4 hospitals and several clinics/Dr. or surgeons offices. I feel I have some insight to the medical world that the average non medical person dosent. Dr Chae is very professional, hard working, and dedicated to his bariatric patients. He has a great bed side manner that I feel is so important in the medical field, and can be very hard to find at times. His assistant Susie Thomas is very helpful and right on top of keeping in touch in a very timely manner with insurance issues, surgery info etc. Kelly Elliot is the nutrionist I was referred to. I found Kelly to be also as dedicated to the "Bariatric patient" as Dr. Chae. I do not at this stage in my recovery have anything negative to say about my experiance.

1/30/03..........I attended Dr. Snyder's information seminar on 1/23/03 and was very impressed by his passion to help others that deal with morbid obesity. He was extremely informative and never judgemental. He answered many questions at the end of his seminar, but then he stayed behind for others that wanted to speak with him one-on-one. He never rushed anybody and treated everyone with dignity and respect.

During the seminar, he introduced many post-op patients, which was very impressive; also, he introduced his staff and made it very clear that they were all there to help. Evidently that had not always been the case and he has corrected that situation. I was very impressed with his staff - many of which were his patients at one time.

Dr. Snyder talks very fast, but he is trying to convey tons of information in a short time frame - he's got a great sense of humor in his delivery style. He stressed more than once how important aftercare is - and I've since spoken to a few of his post-op patients, and they all attest to this. He and his staff are wonderful with aftercare.

My first consult is scheduled for March 19. I'm very excited - I'm already reading through the packet I received at the seminar and starting the process! I'll post more as the time draws near.

UPDATE: 3/26/03..........After my appointment on 3/19/03 was cancelled due to a blizzard, Dr. Snyder's office worked very hard and efficiently getting everybody rescheduled. I finally had my consult today and was once again very impressed with Dr. Snyder and his staff. I found both Dr. Snyder and Patrick (his PAC) to be very compassionate and very caring of their patients. I know I've made the correct decision with the surgeon I've selected.

Dr Snyder impressed me from the moment I met him. I was a patient of his prior to considering WLS. His passion and commitment are second to none. He truely cares about his patients and it shows in the care he provides. He talks fast but never rushes you through your appointments. I have had 9 surgeries in the past with different surgeons and he is by far one of the ones I am most comfortable with. Dr Snyders office staff is very courteous and professional. It may take a while to get in for a consult, but he is worth the wait. His information seminar is also very informative and I would recommend attending.

Wow, I went to a seminar put on by Dr. Snyder today and was totally impressed. I have always been impressed with his staff. As i work for a group of doctors doing referrals and have had to work with the staff frequently. He is very down to earth, likes to make it as comfortable for you as possible. He even told us he comes out and gets the patients himself. He doesn't have a nurse or MA come out to get us, from his lobby. I look forward to proceding with this procedure with him and his staff. I will update after i have my consult with him.

He is the best!!!

He continues to care about my progress

His office staff goes above & beyond to help you

Dr. Snyder is the type of doctor that will sit and talk with you about your cares & concerns

He stresses the fact that aftercare is as important as the knowledge of the surgery

Very good aftercare program

He address's everything associated with the surgery

On a scale of 1-10 he is 100+

Both are excellent

I was so tottally devasted over this, and try and try to find another Dr. with his croditionals to get this done... But after Dr.Snyder found out about all that had happen.. He called me personally at home and told me that I would get to have my surgery and that he would do it for me, for me to contact him personally to make arrangements .. I was SO touch by his concern of what had happen that it brought me to tears.. I am so happy that finnally after trying, researching, getting so many test done Dr. Snyder has agreed to do my surgery.. These past 3 years and 4 months have all seamed worth it after all.. SO now 2 more stages then I can join the loosing side of life.. Thank You Dr. Snyder for helpping me become a healther person.. and caring so much..
