TriStar Centennial Medical Center Hospital
I had my consult with Dr. Dyer June 4th, 01. I think he is a very professional doctor, he answered all my questions. He told me if I could lose 50 lbs. that he could do lap. he explained that my BMI was to high or right at the boderline for lap. I'm sure going to give it a try to lose the weight, my healing time would be so much faster, and that's a 50 lbs. I'll never gain back. THANK YOU GOD! My surgery date is Oct.09-01. You better bet I'll be calling to see if there's any cancellations just call me Mrs. Impatient. 10-19-01, Dr. Dyer, has been wonderful, I couldn't have ask for a better doctor, he was able to do it LAP, and my healing time was so much faster. I would tell anyone that I think he is one of the best, I trusted him with my life, and God guided his hands what a team.
I had my initial consultation on October 4, 2001. My Husband and I were very impressed with how patient and willing he was to answer any question or concern that we may have. He took down information, but was so through during his preliminary talk with us that most of our questions were taken care of . He took more than an hour and did not seem to rush us like most doctors do in their offices.
We were extremely happy that this was the doctor that I had chosen to wait for for 7 months. He stated every risk in very positive terms and gave % of what has happened with him and also the national average. He has an excellent average. I look forward to this new hopeful chapter in my life.
My first impression of Dr. Dyer at a seminar held to educate people on the procedure, was that he is very professional and maybe a perfectionist. I have only met him one other time so far and I think I was right about him. He is very serious and seems genuinely concerned about what he is doing. His staff was very helpful but not overly friendly except the girl, Robin I think, who actually went in the room as maybe his assistant for the consultation and also helped schedule. I liked her. At this point I don't have any dislikes for him. I feel like he is very straigt to the point and don't like to fool around but stay with the business at hand. He did put great emphasis on aftercare and he does have a structured program for aftercare. He was very direct about the risks involved and did not try to sugar coat it. I feel like he is a professional and I can hardly wait to have my surgery. Bedside manner is good but I will go with the professional if I have to choose.
I met with Dr. Olsen on Friday September 28, 2001. I was impressed with his direct manner. He did not make me feel rushed in any way. He thoroughly explained the procedure with me, including the pro's and cons. His nurse, Terry, was very pleasant and helpful. There is a structured after care program. One week, three weeks, one month for three months then 6 months.
Met with Dr. Olsen on September 20, 2001-he was very matter-of-fact and went over everything having to do with the surgery. I spent over an hour with him and he answered all of my questions. His assistant Terry was very helpful and set me up with a surgery date immediately. Everyone that I've encountered in his office has been great!
Dr. Dyer seems to be committed to his patients and is friendly. I have heard nothing but good things from him.
My First meeting went well with DR Dyer . It was about what you would expect. He is very nice answered all my questions but at the same time he is kinda quiet. I have since choosing him learned that he prays for each of his patients before surgery and this impressed me a lot because I believe in the power of prayer. I feel I am in good and capable hands with DR Dyer .
Since I swithced to a new doctor, I had to attend his (Dr. Olsen"s) seminar. I felt very comfortable at the seminar. I heard a lot of the same information I had heard at the other seminar for the open RNY. Dr. Olsen does the laproscopic procedure and I felt much more comfortable with the 'closed' rather than the open procedure. His staff was excellent-the presnter was a WLS patient and was able to relate the positive and negative of WLS very well. The positive outweighed the negative, however, for me.
Group support sessions are emphasized and made available.
All aspects of WLS were covered very well.
I have not met with Dr. Olsen for consult yet. He seemed very pleasant at the seminar
however.
I've met Dr. Olsen. He seems very capable and answered all of my questions. He was sure to explain the possible complications of the surgery as well as the surgery procedure and benefits. He was very confident and informative in his approach.
