TriStar Centennial Medical Center Hospital
• Today is a very special day for me. Today is my surgiversary. Six years ago this morning, I took the first step into the rest of my life. I had weight loss surgery, more specifically, Gastric Bypass – RNY. I have lost ½ of my original weight! While I have put on 25-30 pounds this year, which is all I have put back on. I am grateful to my surgeon, Dr. Dyer, and my host of friends who have been there through thick and thin. I am most grateful to my FAMILY – without them, I would never had made it this far.
I am often asked if I would do this again or if I have any regrets. The answer is YES! My only regret is not exercising after surgery, and not keeping it up when I did start after plastics. Quite frankly, I would not be alive today – ready to celebrate my big 5 0 if were not for this surgery. I am more confident in my skin then before, I have a job that I love, and I am ALIVE to see my husband follow his dream and watch my son grow into the young man he is today. I thank God for each and every day now – knowing that they are truly a gift from God!
With all of this said and done – I love my life – my own personal roller coaster, the ups and downs that being healthy bring me – wouldn’t trade it for the world!
HAPPY SURGIVERSARY to ME!
I had my surgery March 12, 2013. I have already lost 39 lbs. and I feel better then ever. Dr. Olsen is the greatest. He tells you like it is and he is there for support. I was having a little problem one night and called the answerning service and Dr. Olsen call me back with minitues. Then another time he had to send me to the ER, nothing major, but he just wanted to make sure I was ok. The next morning I had to call the office for a follow up and he came to the phone and talked to me. I still have a long way to go but I know that Dr. Olsen and his staff will be with me all the way through my weight loss.
Two years out from surgery and have maintained a 140 lbs weight loss -- Dr. Dyer was great to work with in this process. His diet plan and maintenance plan is strict but it works if you follow it. The support of the office and staff was wonderful too.
Love Dr. Dyer. Very thorough and friendly. Need to keep in touch with the office staff and always try to ask every question you can think of -- don't assume anything!

I had reservations about having weight loss surgery until i was referred to Dr. Dyer. Dr Dyer took the time to explain all i needed to know about Gastric Sleeve. He was and continues to be very patient and very caring. The staff especially Holly and all the nurses are great and encouraging. I would definitely recommend Dr Dyer.
I was at my highest weight of 328 and at 5 ft tall, with several hermias. I was bigger around than tall, I went to several seminars and finally ment Dr. Olsen. He and his team saved my life and the way I now eat. I have lost over 130 pounds and still losing. I talk to several people about my experience with the Doctors and the care that I received at the hospital, and even with home care. I would recommend the Baratric Center to any one at any time they care about you. And your future. Thank you to all at the center...
With the tool of WLS, gastric banding, I have lost over 150 pounds. My weight is 197 and basically holding. My lowest weight since surgery was 181. I have gone up a little but with the help of Dr. Olsen and his staff I intend on getting back to 185, my goal weight. Anyone 100 pounds or more over weight should consider Weight Loss Surgery. I will change your life for the better.
It is now 2016, I have gained about 60 lbs. I made the decision to go back to my Doctor and take what ever steps to correct my regain. I expected Dr. Olsen to be disappointed and maybe criticize me. To my relief he was compassionate and supportive. He made me feel like I was not a failure. I am grateful for his guidance and support.
Dr. Olsen was referred to me by one of his patients. When I saw the results that she is able to achieve I knew Dr. Olsen was the surgeon for me. My operation was January 26, 2010. Since the surgery I have lost approximately 90 pounds with no adverse side effects. Dr. Olsen's organization, nurses, councilors, and staff cannot be beat. With their help and support I am sure I will reach my set goal. Dr. Olsen has surgical competence unequaled in Nashville. He is very serious about helping Obese people, and I like that. He can be a little no nonesense but when it comes to health who needs nonsense.

My entire life I have struggled with my weight. I was never able to share clothes with my girlfriends, I had trouble keeping up in the sports I played, and couldn't even enjoy the fun things about being a kid/teenager because my weight prevented me from physically participating, or I was too embarrassed to be involved. Three years ago, I became the mother to a beautiful baby boy, and decided that it was time I made some changes and work towards becoming a healthier woman and mother. I tried a few diets, including Slim Fast and Weight Watchers, but nothing ever seemed to help me do anything but lose a couple pounds, and it was hard to stay consistent. In July 2011, I was offered a job working for Dr. David Dyer at the Centennial Campus in Nashville, TN. It was wonderful to see all of the transformations and hear the wonderful testimonies from post op patients who came in each day. On many occasions, I did research and asked questions about the different kinds of bariatric surgery, but never quite felt like it would be right for me. After all, I was only 23 years old, I had my whole life ahead of me to work on losing weight and getting healthy. After working for Dr. Dyer for about 9 months, I noticed that I had gained extra weight and my health was slowly declining. My back and legs ached and throbbed all day, I couldn't walk up and down the stairs at my house, I couldn't fit in any of my clothes, and worst of all, I couldn't play with my son for more than a short period of time without feeling like I could pass out. I had hit 300 pounds and this was the final straw. I began the process of going through the insurance approval and spoke with Dr. Dyer about my interest in Gastric Bypass surgery. My insurance changed its guidelines about the time I finished my third month of my 6 moth diet prep, and I was able to get an approval after 3 months instead of 6! I had my surgery on July 2, 2012. For the first few weeks, I had a hard time with regret and depression and really was not sure that I had made the right decision. Anytime I felt down, I always had a great support system to help me back up. Between my family and my co-workers, I was able to keep pushing on. One morning, about 6 weeks out of surgery, I woke up and I felt like a new person! I had energy again, there was no pain or regret anymore, and I was HAPPY for the first time in years. It has been 4 months since my surgery, and as of today I have lost 80 pounds! I weigh 227 and this is the first time since I was in the 8th grade that I have been under 230 pounds. I look great, I feel great, and I could not be happier with my decision to undergo Gastric Bypass surgery and to have Dr. Dyer perform it for me!
