I haven't had surgery yet, but I met him at their information seminar, he seems like a very skilled and kind person.

I am very impressed with the fact that I faxed my paperwork to Dr. Olsen's office and for some reason only the first page went through. I was called right away and informed so that I could refax them. AND the very next day I was informed that my approval letter had been mailed to the insurance company. I can't wait to get the call that I am approved.

First impression:
Very knowledgeable - I was very nervous but he explained everything about the surgery in detail - using graphics where needed.

Office staff was very helpful and went out of their way to follow up after surgery - Thanks Terrie!

My first impression of Dr. Olsen was a "steril" one. He was nice and informative, but that was it........
After my first consultation with him, he seemed to be so very knowledgeable about the surgery and wanted to make sure that I was aware of exactly what I was choosing.
His office staff is wonderful. They greet you by your first name as soon as you open the door and they called and checked on my post-op.
Dr. Olsen is a surgeon....... basically, there may be timess when you feel he doesn't hear you, but he can almost tell how you are doing by your facial expression or body language. He is a wonderful and smart man and I would trust him again with my life!
He was very forthcoming about the risks, which I already had knowledge of.
I wouldn't change to any other surgeon.
Surgical competence is the highest of importance on my list. Your family and friends should be there to pamper and help meet your emotional needs.
This was my personal experience and I know that everyone else has different experiences.

My first impressions of Dr. Dyer was that he was very professional and direct. It did not waste time, but would not rush you either. After my surgery, he seemed to warm up some. I feel he is an extremely competent surgeon.. even my scar is straight lol.. He seems very concerned with his patients. His office staff is wonderful also. It is true that you may have to wait for your apt... but I have always been offered bottles of water by his staff while waiting. And as someone else mentioned.. it is a great support group in his waiting room. Dr. Dyer is very persistant about aftercare. He wants you to watch your diet, drink your water, exercise and attend support groups. I love that he includes a year of aftercare visits in with surgery costs.
I would rate him a 9 3/4 on a 10 scale. I would not go to another, if I had this to do over again.

I found Dr. Dyer to be very "matter-of-fact", informative and very competent. I really did not have a chance to get to know anything about him personally...I basically met him once pre-op, again the morning of surgery and then visits while in the hospital. But I liked what I saw and felt that I was in very capable hands. His bedside manner was professional but not necessarily "warm". The staff at Centennial Medical Center was wonderful during my stay there. Have had very little contact with Dr. Dyer's staff but what I have had has been fine.

Dr. Dyer strongly supports aftercare..including an online and monthly support group meeting as well as follow-up appointments.

I had my consultation with Dr Dyer in October...he is a quiet man but, very personable and he seems very capable as well...I am pleased with my decision to wait for him...

Still, post op surgery..very happy with Dr Dyer...very knowledgeable and patient...and has a wonderful support team set up with the hospital and the bariatric program...

The only negative thing I'd have to even mention is, whenever you have an appointment, there is always a wait but, that's to be expected...he's a great doctor (o; And, nice talking to his other patients, always fun to hold mini support groups in the waiting room (o;

I MET DR.DYER DEC.6TH AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED.HE WAS VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND ALL BUSINESS.HE DIDN'T SURGAR COAT ANY THING AND HE INFORMED ME OF THR RISKS AND BENNEFITS. HIS STAFF WAS VEY HELPFUL AN COURTAOUS. HE TELLS YOU WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU BEFORE AND AFTER THE SURGERY.I TOLD HIM I HAD LEARD A LOT ABOUT HIM AND HE SAID BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU LISTEN TO. SO HE DOES HAVE A LIGHT SIDE.I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM EVEN AFTER JUST ONE MEETING.HE ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS AND EXPLAINS EVERYTHING. HE GIVES YOU A BOOK THAT ALSO EXPLAINS EVERYTHING BEFORE DURING AND AFTER SURGERY. WHAT FOODS YOU WILL BE EATING JUST AFTER SURGERY AND FOR THE LONG HAUL AFTER.YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.

I WAS THINKING I HAD NOT UPDATED ABOUT DR.DYER LATELY AND I THOUGHT I WOULD FILL YOU IN ON SOMETHING THAT SURPRISED ME ABOUT HIM.WHEN I WAS THERE FOR MY APPOINTMENT HE HAD ASK IF I COULD HAVE A UPPER GI SINCE I HAVE A HEINAL HERNA. I SAID SURE NO PROBLEM.ABOUT A WEEK LATER I CALLED HIS OFFICE AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL AND INFORMED ME I HAD A SMALL ONE, WHICH I KNEW AND THE SURGERY WAS STILL ON.JUST AFTER CHRISTMAS I KEPT GETTING MESSAGES AT WORK THAT DR. DYER WAS TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME. FINALLY ONE AFTERNOON I WAS AT WORK WHEN HE CALLED. HE WAS WANTING TO TELL ME THE RESULTS OF MY GI AND ASSURE ME HE COULD STILL DO THE SURGERY AND ASKED AGAIN IF I HAD ANY CONCERNS. I WAS SO SURPRISED THAT HE TOOK THE TIME HIMSLEF TO CALL AND NOT JUST HAVE THE STAFF DO IT. HE WAS SO VERY NICE AND REASURING.I HAVE NEVER HAD A DR. TAKE THE TIME TO CALL HIMSELF. THAT IS HOW CARING HE IS AND I FEEL SO VERY COMFORTABLE HAVING HIM DO MY SURGERY. HE HAS MADE ME FILL LIKE A PERSON AND NOT JUST A SURGERY.AGAIN I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM.

THANKS BRENDA

The first time I met Dr Dyer was at the Baratric Surgery Seminar..I really like Dr Dyer from the start. He seem like a great doctor and new exactly what he was doing.I went to my consultation with Dr Dyer and he has a great bedside matter.Dr Dyer's staff are very kind and eagar to help in anyway possible.I don't have anything to say that I don't like about Dr Dyer at this time.Yes Dr Dyer has a great afterare program..And he really emphasizes to stay with the aftercare program. He goes in depth about the risks and benefits of surgery.I would just rate Dr Dyer as a 10.I think surgical competence is more important.I would think you would want someone to know what they are doing when it come to someones health..I'm just thankful for Dr Dyer. His is going to help put me on the road to a new healthier life.

1-29-02 I had my consult today with Dr Dyer. He was absolutely the kindest man. He acted as though he really cared. I had tons of questions and I didnt feel rushed at all. He took his time with me. His office staff was great and his nurse Robin was as wonderful as he was. He strongly emphasizes the aftercare, as it is a very important part of this life altering surgery. He took his time telling me of the risks that are accompanied with this surgery as well as how they do not differ from risk of other surgeries. On a scale from 1-10 I would have to say I rate Dr Dyer an 11!!!!!!! Now that does not mean that it wont change but I at least hope it doesnt!
