I felt that Dr. Dyer was very professional.
I also felt like he was very straight and to the point.
The office staff was very friendly, but I was aggrevated
because they were suppose to get my records from Dr. Husted's office and didn't.
He probably didn't mean to, but he made me feel
like a loser because of my weight problem. I
also got aggrevated because I waited for 2 hours
and then we got interrupted 3 times. If you go
to Dr. Dyer, plan to wait a long time. And if you
are like me and get your feelings hurt easily, realize that
he doesn't mean to but he will probably make you feel bad.
But, I honestly have to say that Dr. Dyer talked about the risks
thoroughly and emphasized aftercare greatly.
Overall I liked Dr. Dyer's bedside manner and I would rate him as
a good doctor.

Dr. Olsen is a very professional man. I like to kid around. He is direct and so am I. He made 'no bones' about the risks. I look forward the pre-op consultation - my husband is going to this one. The staff is great. I like down-to-earth people.

I had my first consulatation With Dr. Olsen on 5/21. (I has heard him speak on WLS at a seminar but this was the first one-on-one meeting). I like him very much. He took his time and answered all my questions directly. He is very confident in his abilities. He, of course, was very specific about all of the possible negative outcomes. He didn't say anything I didn't already know from my research, but it was sitll scary hearing it from him.

I was impressed with Dr. Dyer. He explained everything in terms so that I could understand them and was even willing to answer my 17 year old daughters questions. He then took me to his office and looked on his calender and asked me if the date of my surgery was ok and then his nurse Robin called the hospital and set it up and they also set up the pre-op testing. I will update more after my surgery.

I first started out by contacting Dr. Smith in Atlanta. It was almost impossible to get in touch with any one there Coty, the clerical was very rude. When I sent over my info, rather than calling, they emailed me and said I wasn't a "prime " candidate for them. Then I heard about Debbie Thompson and Dr. Olsen. I sent her my paper work and within a week the insurance company had it. I am attending a seminar Saturday March 17th. At centennial medical center and will then schedule my appointment with Dr Olsen. I have called his office several times and everyone has been very helpful.

My pre-op testing is May 21st. I have called several time and emailed terry about questions I have reguarding my surgery. Every time she has been wonderful. If she didn't know the answer she would ask Dr. Olsen and get back to me within the day. I couldn't have chosen a better team....

After playing musical surgeons for awhile, I will be going to Dr. David Dyer for my surgery. He is in my network, and does the type of surgery I think will be best for me. I have my initial consultation on May 17, and hope to have my surgery this July.

4/27/01--I was trying to get into the Centennial WLS center with Dr. Olsen but Dr. Dyer has sooner appointments. I saw them both at the seminar in April and am glad to have either one to do my surgery. They have a very thorough pre-qualifying plan where you must first attend the seminar, then get approved, then a consult, and preferably participate in the support group meetings, all before you have a surgery date. This makes you well-informed and aware that they don't take this lightly. I will write more as I go through the process.

I felt that he was a very good listener and was also very informative on what to expect.
Of course he went over the risks of surgery for an obese person, as expected, but also the precautions used to prevent problems.
He was very up front about feeling I should have an open surgery and not lap. He did not feel I was a good lap candidate because of a scar from a previous open gallbladder surgery. I had a list of questions, and he answered all without rushing me. The office staff was very friendly and supportive.
Over all, I would give him a high rating.

I just want to say that my impression w/ Dr Olsen is that he is a wonderful person & surgeon. Extremely competant. He takes his time to explain everything to you so that you understand & also he takes the time to answer any questions that you may have. His office staff is also wonderful. I can't complain about any of them in any way! =)

My first impression of Dr. Dyer was a positive one. I work in the medical field, and I have only heard good things about Dr. Dyer. I had to have my gallbladder out because I was symptomatic. I was trying to wait and do the gastroplasty & gallbladder at the same time. I have learned that even though Dr. Dyer is quiet, he is highly competent and compassionate as well. The staff at Cumberland Surgical are nice, but they began doing the WLS in Jan. or Feb. 2001. They have been bombarded and overwhelmed w/ the response. Dr. Dyer has been a surgeon for 20 plus years specializing in laproscopy. He has received training to perform the rou n y and began performing the procedure in Feb. 2001. Dr Dyer stresses the importance of participation in the support group and being diligent with your diet & nutrition. Overall I am very comfortable with his surgical competence and his bedside manner. This has been my personal experience with Dr. Dyer and I do not have any affiliation with Dr.Dyer or Cumberland Surgical!
