CPMC is a excellent Hospital. They have
many exceptional qualities.The staff
were very good from pre-admit, short
stay, OR, PACU and Med/Surg staff. I
requested a private room from at least
eight staff preop. I did not get this.
It made an extereme difference in my
hospital stay.I was crammed into a
tiny room next to the door, no daylight,
could not reach anything, had a horrible
whiney roomate that had no courtesy.
The floors were filthy, especially
in the bathrooms.That being said.The
staff could not have been nicer, every
single one was pleasant and as helpful
as they could be. The nurses kept my
pain and postop nausea well managed.
My room was at the nurses station
so the noise was off the map. No
I did not get any sleep. But I didnt
expect to. I did extremely well postop
and was up within three hours. Overall
my stay was good. CPMC should look at
a few key issues. Cleanliness!!!
Noise!!! and making all rooms private

Nurses and staff were excellent. I felt like I could relax and let them worry about things. The floor was a bit loud and busy. It was hard to get rest the first two nights. Had a bad experience with one person in respiratory therapy.

Overall, I was pleased and a little sorry to leave. They were taking good care of me. I really appreciate the nurse who managed to find me a quieter room.

It was the "Mercedes" of hospitals. It's a 5 star hotel.

Pre-Admin staff was friendly and nice. Everyone in OR was great (from what I remember:) Great nurses and generally a great hospital.

When I used the call button the nurses were there within a minute. Atnight they would come in with a flash light as to try not to wake me. Very friendly. Couldn't say enough good things about them.

Lovely location, view of San Francisco Bay towards Alcatraz, private room, small but fine for me as I did not plan on any visitors. Double rooms were very crowded, especially with equipment needed. Noise is always a problem in hospitals, but I was able to close my door and a curtain. Staff needs to come in at times designated for blood pressures, lab draws, but they were very courteous. Nurses went out of their way to avoid IV sites in my hands which are painful for me. They did not hesitate to call my surgeon if there was a concern even if it was 11:30 p.m.
As an RN, I knew what to look for and I was not disapppointed in the quality of care or warmth and caring of the staff.

I was lucky to get a huge private room so I had a nice stay. Staff were excellent. Some shared rooms looked cramped though, so I'd pay supplement to get big room. Take a fan as its hot.
