Dr Brolin is a very quiet man but very knowledgeable, I feel the best in his field.

He has been a Bariatric surgeon for 20 + years. To his credit, he has written books on morbid obesity, and he had been a professor of Bariaric surgery for over 10 years.

Dr Brolin is very strong on the issues of WLS aftercare. I also feel this is a very important issue.

Dr Brolin has great skills in this field but needs to smile a little more during his bedside visits.

You will have long wait for the consult appointment and then an additional wait before surgery. They always say "good things come to those who wait".

Dr. Brolin is a quiet, soft spoken man who thoroughly explained the procedure, the risks, etc. He is not a typical surgeon -- he does not come across as arrogant or overly confident. While hospitalized, YOU have his FULL attention! He never seemed rushed or uninterested. He spent a great deal of time with me. He is extremely interested in helping the obese patient and stresses patient education as a pre-op as well as a post op. He has a large support group which meets monthly. After the post op phase, he requires bi-annual and later annual visits, checking labs, etc. He is an incredible surgeon with a great bedside manner. Don't let his quiet presence fool you! He is a 10 in my book!

I met with Dr Brolin for the first time last week. He is extremely knowledgeable in this field. He informed me of what to expect, as well as the risks involved with this procedure and answered all my questions. While he does not have a great bedside manner, I did a ton of research on the surgeons in my area and came to the conclusion that he is the best. While he is performing the surgery I won't care if he has a sense of humor, but I will care very much about his abilities. I am now scheduled for April 14th and the anticipation is bittersweet. I am excited at the thought of getting my life back, but also afraid of having the surgery. The anxiety associated with this fear however is somewhat alleviated by having a surgeon who knows his stuff!!

I WAS AT THE HEALTH SYMPOSIUM AT THE HYATT REGENCY ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 14,2004 IT WAS THE MOST INFORMATIVE HEALTH EDUCATION SEMINAR I BEEN TO YET THANKS DR BROLIN

My first impression of Dr. Brolin was good. I liked him and he was very knowledgeable. He did not talk alot, but he had an answer for all my questions and was very patient. I have since gotten to know him and his office staff and they are all wonderful. His staff has been excellent in dealing with insurance issues. Every time I call they are extremely pleasant and they take a genuine interest in me.

My first impression of Dr. Brolin was that he exudes quiet confidence, like he knows exactly what he is doing and has done this a million times. Making the rounds between the doctors that I needed to see to get the approval of my insurance company only reinforced that opinion. I was at a local cardiology office having an echocardiograph and a paitent sitting in the waiting area overheard me telling the technician that I was scheduled to have an open gastric bypass operation with Dr. Brolin and when I exited the room, she stopped me and told me the she was sorry for eavesdropping but she heard me speaking about the surgery and wanted me to know that her husband had the same operation (open) performed by Dr. Brolin and has lost 200 lbs in the first year. She said that Dr. Brolin saved her husbands life and that she felt like he was the best in his field. I don't mind telling you that I was happy to hear that. The amazing thing is that type of thing happened more than once. The other nice thing about his office is that they are wonderfully compentent. His insurance person did exactly as he said he would, the young lady (Debbie) that is handling my paperwork and scheduling is great. They are comprehensive and very caring. I am excited about my upcoming surgery. I am scheduled for Jan 8, 2004.

I met Dr. Brolin at the consultation, and he was very thorough in his explanation of the surgery, what to expect after surgery and answered all the questions I had. His staff was very nice and helpful, and all seemed to genuinely care about the patients. I had read about Dr. Brolin's bedside manner, but I thought he was very nice and wanted to help me. He has a support group that he requires you to attend before surgery. It was a great idea because I learned a lot at that meeting. He has been doing WLS for over 20 years, so I felt very confident with his skill.

Dr. Brolin is a very serious, all business.

After seeing him in support group meeting I realized how much he cared for the health and aftercare of his patients.

Extremly friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. They come to the phone right away or call you right back when you have a question or problem. He has many people in his office specializing in different areas of the process both pre OP and Post Op.

It takes along time to get an appointment with him. Then another few months to get a surgery date.

My surgery is 11/04/03 so it's hard to comment on some things.

He emphasizes aftercare from your first meeting with him. As far as he is concerned it is a must for sucess. He has group support meetings every month which he always attends.A nutritionist on staff.he has a full aftercare program.

So far I would rate him very good.

To me his surgical competence is much more important then bedside manner.

Dr. Brolin is a fantastic surgeon! I would definitely recommend him to others! He’s a skilled surgeon who treats you like an individual. I had originally seen several other surgeons before Dr. Brolin because I didn’t know he performed laparoscopic surgery. When I finally got to see Dr. Brolin, I was sure I had made the right choice. Since I was going Lap, I knew the pain pump was not the “norm” following surgery. However, because of my concerns, he was willing to discuss this option with me and agreed to let me have it the day of surgery if needed. I DID end up needing it but Dr. Brolin let me change off the pump as soon as I was ready. He never told me it HAD to be done this way or that -- it was very individual. (One doctor I had been to before Dr. Brolin had flatly told me “no” when I asked about the pain pump.) You may not need the pain pump (pain shots are the norm), but it’s nice to know if you need to individualize your care in some way, he’s open to it. Also, Dr. Brolin is very professional and pleasant. If you read back a few posts on obesity.com, you will read a few comments saying his bedside manner was not so great on occasion. Well, he may not be a comedian, but he is very professional and really does care. First and foremost, I wanted a great surgeon- and he is definitely that. My surgery went off without a hitch and his staff has been there for me to answer all my questions and concerns. Dr. Brolin is the best!!
