So far I have only seen the surgeon one time.
So far so good. He seemed very nice. I thought he was informative and patient. His office staff was compassionate and made me feel comfortable. His waiting room is more like a social gathering than a waiting room. Everyone talked and share experiences and all were very freindly. The wait to see the surgeon was rather long i had to wait three months for my initial consultation.
I have to agree with the others who say he is straighted foward and to the point. I am not looking for a Doctor who wants to joke all the time any way, I am glad he is highly respected. I did however crack a joke just for my own sanity, and he cracked a smile so it made it alot easier for me. The whole staff is great, alittle on the rush side, but other wish TERRIFIC!!The office is very busy, But they all took the time to answer my questoins, I wasn't brushed off. He is busy so be patient, the weight didn't come on overnight, (although thats what I tend to believe.) So you won't be able to get in to see him fast, unless you get lucky.
I found Dr Brolin to be very informative and
friendly. His staff took the time to talk with me one on one and went over all info I supplied them with. I was told the risk of the surgery and what to expect. He is a very busy man (# of patients in his office testifies to that). I have talked to several people who have surgery performed by Dr Brolin and they highly recommend him. I am waiting to hear from his office as to my Ins Co's reply to letter sent for the surgery approval. I was told there would be a wk to 2 wk delay in sending the letter out. I wish there were a way to speed up this procedure.
Upon my first meeting with Doctor Brolin I thought he was very abrupt and his bedside manner needed work. I already Knew he was THE BEST surgeon in my area for surgery on obese people, so I knew I would still use him. My surgery date was 8-31-99 and he was very caring and nurturing. He is a very busy man and cares tons about his patients. He came to see me in the holding area before the surgery and again after the surgery, EVERY day. He listened to my questions and answers EVERTHING you ask clearly and concisely. He has an assistant Nurse on his staff named Gloria, who too, although very busy and abrupt initially was very caring and nurturing post op. She removed the catheter, nose tube and drain and all were painless. The surgeon also has a nutritionist on his staff and she too is very good. All questions are answered timely and appropriately. In addition, they have a support group, right in the hospital! I heard that the last one was standing room only. I think that YOU should choose Dr. Brolin because he is sincerely the very BEST!!! He does 8 surgeries of RNY weekly and has been doing so for 18 years!!!
Dr Brolin is highly respected in this field.
He is not know for his "outgoing" personality, but please know that he is very dedicated to his patients and to this surgery. I am a nurse and I trust him totally. I am always ready to refer patients to him he is the best!!
He attends the support group meetings and answers every questions posed to him.
This is one of the most published bariatric surgeons in the nation. He is a tactiturn man but a wonderful surgeon who truly cares about the issues. I was a high risk patient and yet he acomplished wonderful results, no post-operative problems, and I have lost 103 pounds in 10 months. I absolutely endorse Dr. Brolin, he is the best and I had conducted extensive research prior to surgery.
