Dr. Brolin and his staff handled my case in a most professional and friendly manner....my questions were answered promptly and without any "sugar coating" or ambiguity as with some professionals.....my surgery was VERY successful and I suffered NO complications from the procedure or the recovery....When I first met Dr Brolin, my impression was that of a quiet, modest but VERY knowledgeable and confident man who possessed a great command of his profession. Both Dr. Brolin and his staff addressed the risks and benefits in a complete and understandable manner.

I am 5 years post-op at this time and I found the aftercare program at the time to be both very well structured and well-emphasized....I have since found out through becoming re-involved with the Support Group that his practice has been recently awarded the CENTER OF EXCELLENCE status.....the ultimate pinnacle in the practice of bariatric surgery, dreamed of by many but achieved by the chosen few...those few who truly are committed to their goals and their results reflect this quality.

I would rate Dr Brolin and his staff as top-notch.....Due to his quiet demeanor, some may construe Dr Brolin as having less of a bedside manner...not true, for quite often actions speak FAR louder than words...and save a LOT more lives...I would rather have "action" than "talk" in my corner ANYTIME.......

Again...Thanks Dr. Brolin and staff for everything....you have helped me to "take back" my life and it is my privelege to be involved in the support group as well...and helping others in going forward for a better tomrrow

I think Dr. Brolin is an outstanding physician who is extremely professional. Although he seemed quietly reserved at first, I got the impression that he really cares about his patients. After I went to my first support group meeting (about a week before my surgery date) Dr. Brolin and Dr. Chau opened the meeting as a forum for anyone with medical questions. I must say that really impressed me that 2 doctors took the time to attend support group meetings and answer people's questions both pre and post op.

The office staff is also very friendly, informative and helpful. I appreciate the fact that there is a nutritionist on staff and that the office takes a multi-disciplinary approach to weight loss-not just the medical, but support, nutrition, etc.

I used NJ Bariatrics as my surgeons. Dr Tichansky is WONDERFUL. I had a stress free, FAST recovery with no problems since (6 mos post op) Excellent bedside manner, extremely friendly and makes sure you are comfortable with knowledge of the surgery and the actual procedure. Visits daily at the hospital and answers all your questions, no matter how silly you seem they are. Called several times TO MY HOME to make sure I was feeling good post-op. I was recommended to him from a friend and would gladly recommend him to someone else. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner were excellent. My only complaint would be that he left the practice 4 mos post op for me, although a good move for him, I was extremely sad to see him go. He currently moved (July 2004) to the Tennessee area (you lucky patients!!!).

I've been seeing Dr. Brolin for my follow ups. VERY informative and caring doctor!

Dr Brolin seemed a bit reserved but was very honest with the risks of the surgery. He broke everything down. Even though he seemed a bit reserved you can tell he cares. His staff was very friendly and helpful.

The moment I walked in to Dr Brolin's office I was greeted quickly and cheerfully by his staff. I began to feel good about choosing him almost immediately. The staff was so supportive that I began to shed all my fears about WLS. Once I met Dr. Brolin, my first impression was that he was a bit too quite, almost standoffish but he soon warmed up and his bedside manner kicked in and I rapidly became very comfortable about putting my surgery (and safety) into his hands. He fully explained the procedure - benefits and risks. He took time to answer all my questions and encouraged me to keep calling him after the surgery with any other questions and concerns I had. He had two assisstants who were immediately friendly as well as very informative and supportive prior to the surgery. I welcomed my aftercare appointments because by then the staff had become like friends and I enjoyed going back to talk to them as well. Dr. Brolin also runs a support group for his patients. It is hard to say what I least liked about him because I liked him so much that I sent my own mother to him and she too, is doing very well post op. On a scale of 1-10 I would give Dr. Brolin a 9 1/2. Only God is perfect, but as a surgeon, Dr. Brolin is pretty close to perfect. I guess I would have to take a half of a point for the pain I felt because although it was bearable if he were truely perfect he would have figured a way to perform the surgery without any pain involved. (Ha,ha) As for the question which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or both, my answer would be both because Dr Brolin has both and that was great for me! I looked around for 2 years for a surgeon I could feel comfortable with andI stopped when I went to Dr. Brolin and the flexable payment plan offered for the cost of what my insurance did not cover earned him extra points in book as well!

Dr. Brolin is a very soft spoken man. He has this look about him of great confidence, like he has the secret to sucessful bariatric surgery. Now that I am 6 weeks post op, I believe he really does have the secret. He was the best choice for me. The whole process went very smoothly and quickly. I was pretty well informed and didn't have many questions but he does have the answers for anyone that needs to ask him. His surgical competence is beyond excellent. An ace in his field. I am glad I chose him!

Dr. Brolin is very professional he knows excatly what needs to be done and when it should be done. He makes you feel comfortable. My impression of Dr. Brolin has only increased. His knowledge is unlimited and his attendtion to detail is professional. The staff is unbelivable, they are kind and very easy to take to. The staff is extremely accomidating and make you feel very comfortable about everything. Aftercare is as important as preoperative care. From the moment you make the decision to have the surgery the entire staff helps you pre and post operative. The aftercare program is very structured and closely monitored. The risks of surgery are posted very clearly in each exam room and emphisied by Dr. Broolin and the assistant surgeon. This team gets a rating of 10. Surgical competence is better not every doctor has good bedside manner.

Like him right away, seems like a very good surgen. Know severy people who had him for a surgen. They loved him... He has a structured after care. He address all riks of surgery.... I think Surgical competence is bettr then bedside manner. I rather have a great surgen then a great bedside manner and not a very skilled surgen.

Reserved

his office was very busy

friendly, but business-like

waiting for appointments/busy office

he is very experienced, but may seem a bit distant
as much as the patient will inquire

I was not likely to follow structured aftercare
well, but did not emphasize necessary post-op patient lifestyle changes enough IMHO
B+

surgical competence
