I HAD A VERY GOOD IMPRESSION WITH DR. BOLAR. I FELT HIS STAFF WAS HELPFUL AND VERY PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE CONSIDERING THE SURGERY. HE SEEMS TO TAKE PRIDE IN HIS WORK. I THINK HE IS VERY CONFIDENT AND HAS THE SKILLS TO BACK IT. HE REALLY IJMPRESSED ME AS BEING ONE OF THE BEST DOCTORS IN THI FIELD. I DO APPRECIATE HIS LOYALTY TO PATIENTS, HIS PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR, AND HIS AMAZING TALENT. KENTUCKY RESIDENTS ARE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE DR. BOLAR AVAILABLE IN THEIR AREA.
I've only met with Dr. Bolar once. He is nice and easy to talk to. He explained the procedure and answered my questions. He did talk about the risks involved and thus far has not had a patient die. That made me feel better. I haven't talked with him since the inital consult. His staff is wonderful and have made the process to surgery easy. My surgery is Monday so I'm kind of nervous but I feel that Dr. Bolar is a good surgeon and I'll be fine.
Dr. Bolar was just wonderful! His staff are very friendly and even though it took me from October 02 until March 03 to get an appointment with him, it was well worth the wait! My only complaint is that you have to stay on them and keep calling to make sure everything is moving promptly. I am on a very tight timeline because my insurance (Anthem) has told me that as of June '03 they will change all Anthem policies and make wls a written exclusion. So, I am trying to move as fast as I can so I can beat the timeline!
Dr. Bolar was very friendly and explained the procedure and all the risks thoroughly. Although at first I was a perfect candidate for lap rny, he decided that he would rather perform the open rny because after my second csection (1-5-01) I had to have another surgery a few months later to remove alot of scar tissue and polyps and he wanted to be able to check all of that out as well. So, it doesn't matter how I have it, just as long as I have it!!!
Dr. Bolar is a soft spoken person. He is very precise in his manner of description about the procedure. I have every trust that he will perform true to his word.
His staff is very attentive especially Carol. Any questions regarding insurance and approvals are handled by her. Believe me when I say I called more than once, and everytime, she was friendly and helpful.
However he is so busy with patients, it takes a while for your initial consult. Weeks infact. Overall I believe I have made a great choice in Dr. Bolar and his staff for my WLS care.
Good news! Maybe!
After being told that Dr. Bolar did not do surgery on anyone 60 or over I was speaking with a nice lady in his office named Amy. I knew she could tell how disappointed I was and she said for me to give her a few minutes and she would ask him personally and would call me back. In less than an hour she called me back and said that he would see me!!!!! Now this doesn't mean I'll get the surgery but at least it isn't a firm no! More like a definite maybe...I'll take it. Anna
Good news...really!!! I met Dr.Bolar Feb. 13th when I went for a consultation. He was very nice, very friendly, and I liked him right away. So did my husband. His office staff is super. They sent in my paperwork on March 5th, I was approved March 24th, and I have a surgery date for April 16th, 2003. Will add more from the "other side".
