I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE PLEASURE TO MEET HIM YET. FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD TO ME BY A FRIEND THAT USED HIM HE WAS GREAT.
8-27-03
HE IS EVERY THING ANY ONE COULD WANT IN A SURGEN HIM AND HIS STAFF IS SO NICE AND ANSWERED ALL OF OUR QUESTENS I CANT WATE TO SEE THEM AGIN. HE HAS DONE OVER 2500 SURGERYS AS OF 8-27-03. ON A SCALES 1-10 1 BEING THE LOWEST HE WAS ABOUT A 11 AND HIS STAFF.
Dr Bolar is the best. He is very attentive to his pts, and listens to any questions you have. Even in the follow-up appointments when he seems backed up and busy, he never makes me feel like he is in a hurry. He is VERY particular about the care his pts get in the hospital. That is why he likes to have you stay in the ICU overnight after surgery. Not necessarily because you are serious, but because he wants to make sure his pts' nurse only has at most one other pt to take care of. That way he knows they are getting the most personal care possible. His surgical competence and bedside manner are excellent. I'd send any one I know to him in a heartbeat. I had no negative experience with him whatsoever.
Dr. Bolar was very nice and helpful in explaining the procedure. It was very informative to know what he would be doing and what to expect. His staff are great as they go through you insurance information to see that you have everything needed that your insurance requires. Since I live about 2 and a half hours away from his office, they were especially good about getting everything I needed done at once. Dr. Bolar had recently moved his practive to Lexington prior to my surgery. It appears that they are developing a very good bariatric program with Samaritan Hospital. The Aftercare service and what to expect was above and beyond expectations. I feel they cover all aspects of before during and after surgery care.
I have not gotten to meet him yet. He was referred to me by a friend that used him. He said that he was the best, and that is what i want. He said that his staff & hospital was great.

My first impression of Dr. Bolar was he is a very compassionate man. He seemed to honestly care about my weight problem without judging me at all! (That is a new one!) His staff was very very nice as well, they made me feel at home. It was very well worth the 5 hour drive! I researched alot before I picked him out, I am very happy I did my research! Check out his page on this site!! http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/forums/index.phtml?ID=919191
I have met my surgeon, Dr. Randall Bolar , now in Lexington and I want to commend him with his knowledge and expertise on the surgery. I look so forward to having this surgery . I often wonder how he feels about him self , helping so many people with a problem and making them live a healthy and better life, I praise him for that!!!
He was very imformative on every aspect of the surgery. I would highly recommend him to any one that is interested or just thinking about this surgery. If you have any questions , he will make sure you know the answer before you leave his office. If he doesn't know it, he willfind out an answer and get back to you.I know the nurses and receptionist are sick and tired of me calling , but i do have to say they have went out of their way and beyond the call of duty many times. Thank You Ohhhhhhh I HAVE A DATE SEPT 17th, 2003
I was very impressed with Dr. Bolar when I attended a seminar he gave. I got the impression he was more concerned with the patient and their welfare than the money. He gave a very informative talk about the risks and benefits of surgery. After leaving there I was so excited and looked forward to my appointment with him. My opinion of him was even better after my appointment. He again explained the pros and cons of surgery. He explained the risks involved and how he would do all in his power to make sure a this was a successful surgery. He agreed that this was very necessary for me at this time. His confidence made me confident this was my best choice for a surgeon. His office staff was very helpful, Amy Day was wonderful in helping me get approved so fast.
Overall, Dr. Bolar is a very caring physician that makes you feel as if you are his only patient. I feel very comfortable being in his care.
My first impression of Dr. Bolar was very positive. He is straight forward, and holds nothing back. His staff are all competent, sincere and devoted, they make you feel totally at ease.
Dr. Bolar lets you know that it is very important to eat what he tells you, and lets you know the consequences that follow if you eat things you shouldn't.
He goes over all the risk you face having weight loss surgery.
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best, that is definitely where I rate Dr. Bolar.
I spoke with 2 other bariatric surgeons. Neither had the surgeries behind them that Dr. Bolar has. I would much rather have Dr. Bolar's expertise and experience any day. As being pre-op, I have not witnessed Dr. Bolar's bedside manner, but I am sure it is A-Okay.
Met Dr. Bolar again on 6/25/03 my surgery date. Matter of fact he had just completed 1 rny, got finished early and was ready for me. He talked to me a few minutes before surgery and equally every day after surgery. I think he is a #1 super great doctor/surgeon.
