I really like him, he seems rather quiet at first, but he really does care about his patients and is very competent. I have complete confidence in him and his staff. If you follow his instructions, you will do fine. I didn't read them as guidelines, but as strict instructions and believe that this is the reason that I have done so well physically after the surgery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is thinking about he surgery. I have never regretted my choice, either of surgeon or the surgery.
Dr. Bolar has been exceptional! I was impressed by him the first time I met him and he has continued to be helpful and concerned throughout. I would recommend him to anyone looking to have WLS, because picking your surgeon will be the biggest and most important decision that you make during your journey.
VERY PERSONABLE AND VERY GOOD BED MANNERS. MY OPINION HAS NOT CHANGED OVER TIME. HIS STAFF AT SAMARITAN HOSPITAL IS VERY HELPFUL. WHEN I HAD MY SURGERY I HAD IT AT GEORGETOWN HOSIPTAL AND THEY DID NOT HAVE A DIETITIAN OR ANY MEAL PLAN TO FOLLOW BY. AFTER DR BOLAR MOVED TO SAMARITAN HOSPITAL I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FOLLOW UP WITH A DIETITIAN WHO HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL. HE IS AN EXCELLENT SURGEON AND HUMAN BEING. I HAD MY FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS AND IF I HAD ANY QUESTIONS, I COULD CALL AND HAD HIS NURSE CALL ME BACK WITH THE ANSWER. HE WAS CLEAR ON THE RISKS OF THE SURGERY. THEY WERE CLEARLY EXPLAINED TO ME IN MY FIRST EVALUATION. IN A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10. HE IS A 10. I WOULD NOT DARE TO TALK ABOUT SURGICAL COMPETENCE BECAUSE I HAVE NO OTHER BARIATRIC SURGEON TO COMPARE HIM WITH, BUT I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THE CARE I RECEIVED AND CONTINUE TO RECEIVE FROM DR BOLAR. I HAVE NOT HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS, THANK GOD.
I first met Dr Bolar at the informational seminar in December 2003. I felt so positive , I wanted the surgery to happen the next day. Unfortunately, due to his schedule, and the necessary forms, information, etc required by the insurance company, I did not have the surgery until May 2004. One of the reasons for the delay was a staff member who was not as efficient as should be. (She has since been "let go"). The staff is always available either by web site or phone for questions, answering with great empathy and patience. I feel the relationship with the office staff is as critical as with the surgeon, since there is more day-to-day dealings with them. Happily, there is great interaction among the doctor, staff and patients. Aftercare is definitely emphasized, although at this point I don't feel it is extremely structured. Risks of surgery were addressed, especially being older. Overall rating of both doctor and staff is excellent. I would recommend Dr Bolar to anyone considering surgery (and have done so.)
Dr. Bolar was very personable and had time to answer my questions. I have researched WLS thoroughly but he added information I had not found regarding anatomy and how the digestive process works. He was forthcoming regarding patient complications and the amount of weight you are expected to lose with this procedure and made sure my expectations were not out of line. His office staff had everything lined up for me to get appointments for a sleep study, nutritional and psychological evaluation and had a checklist of what my insurance would require. I made sure I had all pertinent records available at my visit and hopefully will be approved.
Dr.Bolar was very nice person and i was also very afraid of this sugery but after my mother and I talked to him about the risk he made both of us feel like it was the right thing for me to do.He is very confident in his work Dr.Bolar explains in detail every step he does in making sure your safe with him and that made me feel better. this is my frist impression of Dr.Bolar after the surgery ill let you know more.
My first impression of Dr. Bolar was that he seemed very interested in helping m with my WLS journey, he was not negative about anything. I put my trust in him and he made me feel secure. His office staff are very nice and helpful you couldn't find a better group of staff.I really haven't found anything I like least about him yet.Future patients should know that he is a very good Dr. and he makes you feel comfortable and looks out for your well-being.Dr. Bolar gives you information that is very informative and useful especially in aftercare so he sees that the info is there for you and you can call with any questions you need to ask. Yes he has a very structured aftercare program. He addresses the risk of surgery in the material he gives you and also will discuss with you any thing you want to know.Dr. Bolar is SUPER! I really like him. Both great.
I first met Dr. Bolar in Dec. 2001. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the surgery. I was surprised that there was no physical contact...like he didn't want to see my stomach, etc, but I guess he sees enough of fat people :)
I met Dr. Bolar for a second time in Dec. 2003...my how times change...he has moved his office to Lexington and is preforming surgeries at Good Samaritan Hospital. (His office is just across the street, very conveinent.) More good news is that Dr. Bolar is now doing surgeries Laproscopically, which I am very interested in. It appears that he will be able to do mine this way...again he didn't look at my stomach, which I find weird...like going to the ear dr, and him not looking in my ears? He will also be removing my gallbladder...which has to come out with or with out WLS.
Dr. Bolar's staff seems very nice...he has a new insurance submittal person named James...Kim has left the office.
Everyone is very patient and considerate. I will update my Dr. Bolar review once I have my surgery...
