Randall Bolar Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I trusted Dr.Bolar from the start and so far he hasn't let me or my family down. I think he just might be one of the smartest men ever put on earth. I thank him for everything he has done for me from the bottom of my heart. He's wonderful and so is his staff. They are some of the kindest people in the entire world.

I have been happy with Dr. Bolar. He is very conservative in post-op care which I feel is important. Everyone I met had nothing but good things to say of Dr. Bolar.

My first impression of Dr. Bolar was that he was very knowledgeable and concerned about the health and welfare of his patients. His staff paralleled his commitment to each patient.

The most amazing thing was that he gave me his home phone number and told me to call him anytime I had a problem. I couldn't believe it, a doctor who wanted you to call him at home. His logic was I may be able to help you from home vs both of us heading for the hospital.

No, my feelings have not changed. He continues to be a great doctor and he seems to really care about my progress.

He provided me with all the tools (reading material and advice)that I would need to get through the proces.

He gave me all the risks associated with the process and used medical charts and graphs to demonstrate what would be done.

He and his staff treated my family with respect and kept them informed during and after the surgery.

I would rate him an excellent bariatric surgeon and would recommend him to anyone that would listen.

The staff at Good Sam treated me like a first class customer and more than once I heard them state, "he's one of Dr. Bolars patients and Dr. Bolar wants it done this way". The entire staff was excellent from the initial testing and evaluation to pushing me out to the car after surgery.

I loved Dr. Bolar. He's very calm and understanding.

The office staff has been very helpful. While waiting to be approved, some of my paperwork got delayed, but as soon as we realized what the problem was, it was taken care of.
Dr. Bolar's nurse, especially is really great! Others in the office have been fine, but I generally don't have to deal with anybody.
I guess, I would have liked to have more after care information, I've heard some Drs. give a book, we got a leaflet, but it really covers all the basics.
He does emphasize aftercare, but he's pretty relaxed about it, unless there's a problem. He has a check up schedule and is always available when he's needed.

He told me all about the risks when we met for out initail consultation, and I spoke with some women who work in his office about their surgery and some problems they experienced.
From one to 10, Dr. Bolar is a 10.
Surgical competence! He's a great surgeon with a great record. Bedside, he's kind of quiet but kind.

There really isn't anything I didn't like.

That he is upfront about the risks and that he is really open to answering all your questions..so don't be afraid to ask.
Well,He hasn't put a whole lot on it to me personaly,but he does like to see you and he has a support group.
Not that I know of...other than the support group.
Excellent surgeon and great person.

Surgical competence is great. Beside manner is good...but brief.

What I like least about him was nothing because I see nothing that needed to be improved he is a wonderful dr.
What future patients should know about him is even though he is on vacation or where ever he's at he takes time for his patients and returns there calls night or day. He evened called me on a Saturday morning at 8:30 to check on me while he was on vacation.
He emphasize very close check on all patients.
He has a structured aftercare program.
He does let you know that they are serious risks, if he thinks that your to much of a risks then he won't do your surgery. But he tells you with the surgery you could have a better life and he leave's it to be your choice.
I would rate him over all excellent the best DR. I have ever been to and I have been to alot during my life. He is very caring and concerned. He said he would want someone to treat his wife like he does his patients.
Which is better, surgical competence or bedside manner I feel both are great! He does both very, very well.

I had my surgery on April 19, 2004. Dr. Bolar is wonderful. He has helped me to change my life for the better. His bedside mannor is wonderful, he gives you all the information you need to make an educated decision about surgery. I had decided to have surgery two years ago and changed my mind because I was not confidant in the surgeon in my area. If I had met Dr. Bolar first I would have had my surgery two years earlier. I left his office with no reservations or concerns, I knew he would give me the best care possible. I have had three follow up visits since my surgery and I have lost 80lbs and I am doing very well. His nurse Amy and Lorna have been wonderful. I had great care in ICU but I was not happy with my care once I left ICU. I was not happy with Samaritan Hospital. My mother called Dr.Bolar about a concern she had once I left ICU and Dr. Bolar took care of it right away. I would recommend him to anyone and truely believe he cares about his patients and wants the best for them. Overall he is a 10+, but I was not happy with the hospital. For anyone that chooses to take this journey with Dr. Bolar, you have made a wise choice and I wish you only the best. You will have it with him.

Dr. Bolar made a good first impression the first time I met him,He was very confident in his ability to do a great job. And that made me feel comfortable with my choice. His office staff were great also. Very glad to help anyway they can,and in a timely mannor. He did a great job of letting you know exactly what the deal was. I Was refered to him and I have no problem recomending him to anyone. The Hospital also was great. I have never been in a hospital before but this was ok. I had great nurses on every shift.

Dr. Bolar is an excellent surgeon. He is very serious and discusses any issues or concerns that you have very openly. His office staff is so easy to work with and so knowledgeable. When I call with questions, they get me the answers I need. Dr. Bolar discussed the risks of surgery in detail. I went into surgery with no unanswered questions. I was looking for surgical competence when I was choosing a surgeon and Dr. Bolar has more than fit the bill. I would rate Dr. Bolar and his office staff at the highest marks possible.

Dr. Bolar is an absolutly amazing person. I don't consider him just my surgeon anymore, but a friend. His office staff is very helpful and knowledgable. He takes his time with you, and give each and every patient their time with him. He is strick on following the rules, and wants you to follow up with him regularly. He is considerate of your feelings, and enjoys watching you be successful through your journey. I would recommend Dr. Bolar, without question, to anyone thinking of having this surgery. In fact, Dr. Bolar would be about the only surgeon in this area I would recommend. Thanks Dr. Bolar, for making this experience such a pleasant one.
