when I had my surgery Dr. Bolar was in Lexington KY. Himself and staff was one of the GREATEST Doctor's office I had ever been in and treated so kind and so important.
Dr. Bolar was so informative on everything about Gastric By-pass and I would go back today and have it done again ...........it really was a pleasant time of my life due to Dr. Bolar and his staff.
Thanks!
Dr. Bolar is a skilled surgeon as attested by several of the hospital staff and former patients. He is a man of few words, but was very willing to answer any questions I had.rnrnHis post-surgery visits with me in the hospital were informative and caring, but brief, which was perfect for me. He came to see me early every morning--even Saturday and Sunday--so I didn't have to sit there all day wondering when he would arrive as I've had with other surgeons/other surgeries previously.rnrnThe combination of the Center of Excellence hospital and Dr. Bolar's practice allowed me to simply focus on resting and walking rather than having to worry about what was going to happen next or what to do when I left the hospital. The information I was given thoroughly prepared me!rnrnI would recommend Dr. Bolar to anyone looking to have RNY GBS.
Dr. Bolar was one of the nicest doctors I have ever meet. His staff is Awesome! I was so embarrest at first and they made me feel so comfortable. In this time and age that says a lot. I highly recommend him! Actually two of my friends had the same operation by Dr. Bolar because of how successful mine was, and nither of them had any trouble.
Hello,rn I had surgery with Dr. Bolar In January 2001. This was when his office was in Georgetown Ky. I heard later he moved to Lexington ky, and now I see he is in Tn. I am sorry Kentucky lost such a talented, sensitive, knowledgeable surgeon. He had done over 1000 of these bariatric surgeries at that time and hadn't had one mortality!!!!!!!!! I had found him on the internet and emailed his office and they called me back with my first appt. The rest is history. I found him very professional, yet not stuffy. What really impressed me the most (other than the absolutely flawless roux-en-y procedure he performed on me), was that when I was newly post-op, he was available 24/7 by phone or email for any question I had I just loved him and have never had any complications now being 7 yrs out. He didn't really emphasize aftercare much, it was kind of a voluntary activity you could attend if you'dd like, but it didn't seem necessary. Of course the 2 week appt, then 1 mo. then 3 mo. was very necessary, but after that, it wasn't pushed. He was very informative about the procedure he would do, and gave me literature to read and I had to have alot of pre-op preperations in order to be allowed to have it, to make sure that not only was it important to pass the physical tests, but a psychological evaluation had to be completed also. He wasn't very available postoperatively, but the nurses had very thorough orders to address any needs I may have had. So in summary, Dr. Bolar, in my opinion, is one of the best bariatric surgeons in the world. If you are in the researching stage of the surgery right now, looking for a surgeon, I know you are in good hands with Dr. Bolar.
I knew from the moment I met Dr. Bolar that I wanted him to be my surgeon. He specializes in bariatric surgery and had done over 1,400 cases at the time. He understood my reasons for wanting gastric bypass surgery and made me feel as if there was hope for me to have a normal life again. I did not have a structured aftercare program with Dr. Bolar, but that was because I live 3 hours from where he did my surgery. I had NO surgical complications, and feel that is primarily because Dr. Bolar has had much time and practice to refine his technique to minimize post-op complications. I would highly recommend Dr. Bolar to anyone contemplating WLS.
