I met with Dr. Bolar on April 17th. I was very impressed with him. He explained the surgery to me, the risks, the benefits, and was open to any and all questions. He was very straight-foward on what he expects from his patients. I would rate him a #10. He is the choice for me!! He was very thorough about what to expect after surgery and the weeks to follow. His office staff was great!! I felt at ease talking to any of them. Catherine was so friendly and helpful. Since he has performed this surgery so many times, I am confident that I have made an excellent choice. Way to go, Bolar!!!
He is a very caring person, very professional in all aspects. He is easy to talk to and will explain everything in simple easy to understand english. His staff is very well trained and is also just as professional. You can also be asured that if you call with a question and he has a patient he will call you back.At this time i would recommend him to anyone.Iknow it says to tell all about the surgeon including the negative points but i truly have none.
Dr. Bolar is extremely attentive and patient, and seems very compassionate. He explained everything in detail and answered all of my questions. His staff is very friendly, patient and helpful with everything. He emphasized the importance of following post-op instructions and I feel like I will have no problem getting the services and support I will need after my surgery. I have already recommended him to friends and I have complete faith that all will go well.
1-26-01 I had my initial consultation with Dr. Bolar today. I found him easily approachable, soft spoken and competent. I was pleased to hear he has performed this surgery over 1100 times. He said it takes about two months from initial consultation til surgery date. This is the time it takes to get insurance approval all the test and procedures performed. Dr. Bolar performs the RNY with a medial approach.
1-10-01I have not met Dr. Bolar as of yet. My initial consultation is in about two weeks. As a nurse however, I rate clinical competence as a top priority over bedside manner. Especially with such a life altering type procedure.
6/12 I had my surgery on 4/9/01. I felt Dr.Bolar was attentive and thorough. I recieved exllenct hospital care. After surgery however, I developed a few complications, GI bleed and severe nause and vomiting. Dr. Bolar has been very attentive and taken excellent care of me. He makes himself available at all times and is very compassionate when a patient is haveing problems.
2-08-01 My 1st impression was that he was kind, also very thorough. He emphasized that there was risks involved with this surgery as with any other.
4-24-01 Same. There isn't anything I didn't like about him yet. Rate him a #10!, on bedside manner and his competence.
His staff is nice and friendly even when I called and e-mailed several times over a few days time.
I don't know about his aftercare program yet.
5-16-01 I really like this dr. I had some pain in my leg and panicked (blood clot) so I called to talk to the nurse. He actually got on the phone and talked to me himself! That was a 1st in a loonngg time for me.
He doesn't really have an aftercare program-but you can call or e-mail him anytime.
Dr. Bolar was so great. He had such a wonderful reputation, which was why I chose him. The staff was terrific, because they managed to get my insurance to pre approve the surgery right over the phone on the first try! I think that is incredible. I just had the surgery almost a week ago, so I'm still a little sore, and I don't know a whole lot about post op, but Dr. Bolar is very thorough in his instructions and leaves nothing to chance. He definitely made sure that I was in good enough health to have the surgery, which I appreciate greatly. I would definitely reccommend him to anyone in this area who is looking for a good bariatric surgeon.
He is wonderful. Dr. Bolar is VERY caring. He does NOT talk down to his patients. He treats everyone with the utmost respect. I had seen 2 other surgeons (1 I personally did not care for and the other I liked but he was not in my Insurance network). When I met Dr. Bolar I knew that he was what I had been waiting for. He made both my husband and myself feel very comfortable. He took lots of time to explain everything in great detail (even though I was very prepared myself) and then spent even more time answering questions and concerns.
My admiration for Dr. Bolar continues to grow daily. When I was in the hospital (the local hospital, 2 hours away from him), he called several times to check on me and to make sure I was comfortable with the care I was receiving. He assured me that if I needed him for ANY reason, to not hesitate to call. He gave me his home phone number and asked that I call him to inform him what my PCP found. I did so with a bit of hesitation but he reassured me again that he was glad I did. Dr. Bolar is very open and honest and makes his patients feel very comfortable.
The staff is very friendly. It is a "young staff" which at first made me a bit concerned. But after getting to know them, I came to find out how professional they were and how eager they were to assist me. Very helpful.
So far (knock on wood) I haven't found anything I do not like about Dr. Bolar. Everytime I see him, I'm that much more comfortable that HE was the right decision for ME.
Regardless of what "stage" you are at, Dr. Bolar is so kind, compassionate and caring that he is available to answer any and all questions.
Very much. He stresses the importance of relearning everything and how it DOES take time. He is also smart enough to know that for most, the surgery alone does not solve the problems. He stresses the fact of NOT becoming obsessed with the scales.
Dr. Bolar was upfront about the possible complications or risks of the surgery. In the same token, he was also very confident in himself as a surgeon.
Dr. Bolar definitely receives an A+++
Both his bedside manner and surgical competence are WONDERFUL.
I went into this surgery feeling that I was in the best, most capable hands. I had gone through the slight fear (which is expected) prior to surgery. But the day of, I was at peace with my decision and knew that I was in EXCELLENT hands with Dr. Bolar.
I really liked Dr. Bolar from the very beginning.
He was very professional and straight-forward,
but at the same time he was very sympathetic
to my needs as an obese person. That first
impression has proven consistent. I'm so glad
he was my choice.
The staff is also incredible. Catherine is amazing.
God knows I wasn't the most patient person in the
world. She handled all the insurance concerns for
me and did it quite wonderfully I might add.
Dr. Bolar's aftercare program is very intense.
It is obvious that he wants his patients to make
a smooth transition following the procedure and
he makes his patients well aware that he is
available whenever he is needed. He even provides
his home number in case you have after-hours
questions.
I felt very prepared going into my surgery. Much
of that preparedness is due to Dr. Bolar's
straight-forward approach. He made me well
aware of the possible risks and his description
of the procedure itself was very thorough.
I would highly recommend Dr. Bolar to anyone
considering this procedure. His professionalism
and his knowledge/competence in the operating room
are outstanding, but they in no way effect how
real and comforting he is at your bedside.
