Dr. Bolar is very personable and very friendly. I was pleased with the time he spent with me and answered my questions in a manner I could understand.
Over Time I grew to appreciate him more and look forward to seeing him again, wish he could be my family physican.
Dr. Bolar's office staff are great, they are so friendly and never to busy to help you. Carol did all my insurance work, bless her Lord! If I have questions they are ready with answers right away. They get gold stars!!
There was nothing I did not like.
Future patients should consider his pratice and inquire if he could help them.
The after care and follow up is thorough and informative and helpful. the really do care.
Dr. Bolar and Dr. Skinner really covered the risk factor completely with me, the presented all the problems, the solutions and what they would do. I was never anxious or afraid. I had complete confidence in them.
Over all, Dr. Bolar is the best!!!!
Both are great, He is an excellent surgeon and I love his bedside manner.
Dr. Bolar has been holding my hand since the day I met him in October of 2001. My surgery was 2/1/02 and he has continued to stay interested and concerned about my progress ever since. It is comforting to me to know he is just a phone call away at anytime...he and his staff truly care about the success of their patients. I would recommend Dr. Bolar to anyone who is seriously considering this drastic step. It was/is a pleasure for me to drive over 3 hours each way simply to check in with the doctor whom I consider to be the absolute BEST!
I really like Dr. Bolar. I met with him on April 4th and he explained the surgery in detail. One thing that he said that I really appreciated is that he wasn't there to help people be "skinny" he was there to help people be "healthy". That is exactly why I want to have this surgery. When he told me that I would most likely be off my diabetes medication before I left the hospital I started crying. He seems like he genuinely cares about the individual he is operating on. His staff was also very nice. I apologized for bugging them so much, but I explained to them that they are dealing with people who are VERY excited about changing their lives. I hope they can be patient with me, and forgive me for driving them crazy. I will in turn try to leave them alone. :)
I will have to give Dr. Bolar a very high mark. He took the time to actually sit with me and draw out on paper the operation and what was involved.
He was open to any and all questions that I might have about it and explained what the pros and cons of the operation are.
His staff was among the most friendly I have ever met. They also took the time for a one-on-one discussion about the surgery.
Here I am with my first meeting with Dr. Bolar on April 11, and they have already
assigned me dates...pre-ope date ,, May 9 and the surgery date is May 17, 2002.
They are fast...At first they though they would have an opening sooner but for now this is the confirmed date unless something somes open sooner.
I had read only good comments about Dr. Bolar, but they were understated. I really like him. He seems very warm and friendly. He told me if I had any questions that he didn't want me to wait until the end to ask them because I would forget them. He told me to interrupt him at any time.
I love his staff! Carol and Amy are especially sweet ladies. We were talking like we were old girlfriend by the time that I left the office. So far, I would definetly recommend Dr. Bolar (and his staff).
Dr Randall Bolar in Georgetown, KY was my surgeon, and he was wonderful. He was very caring and definately knows what is doing.
Upon meeting him for my first visit, I explained to him all of my concerns and he did not sugar coat anything. He was very informative and did explain the risks associated with this surgery.
I do believe that Dr Bolar has a geniune concern for his patients.
I am thrilled! Dr. Bolar was so kind to my husband and me. He explained everything and even did drawings. Also, his staff was really accomodating. Two weeks after meeting with Dr. Bolar my insurance company approved my request so I can have surgery in less than three weeks. I look forward to working more with Dr. Bolar and his staff before and after surgery.
Dr. Bolar was very patient with me and my family. He explained the Rouex-en-Y Open procedure in great detail and answered all of our questions. His staff was very friendly and eager to help answer questions too!
As far as "rating" the surgeon, that would be very hard to do at this point since I've only met him one time. I'll update this site more as I get to know the surgeon better.
I have not actually seen the physician yet. The way his office does it is really net. They ask all the info first, see if you met the criteria, see if your insurance will pay and then set up your first appointment. Now, there may be downsides to this, however, I do not know yet. I am anxious to hear from them. I am now at 7 days since sending in my information. Amy said it is usually 7-10. I will update from there.
I met with Dr. Bolar on 3/5/02 with my wife Cathy and we thought he was wonderfulas well as his staff. We just thought it was grat how he talked to us in simple terms even though we are both nurses. Dr bolar preaches how much the aftercare is just as important as leading up to the surgery. I would rate him a 10 on a 0-10 scale. We are just in the waiting process for insurance approval which the office staff says could take anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Also the office staff said not to call the insurance company because when you bother them they have a tendency to drag there feet.
