My first impression of Dr. Bolar was good, he explained the procedure to my satisfaction. Office staf was nice, my only complaint was it took them 1 month to send the information to my insurance company. then 2 weeks later when i was approved for my surgery, the date they gave me was 7 weeks later. When I went for my initial visit , They told me it usually only took 2-3 weeks for a surgery date. other than the long waits, I don't have any complaints.
Dr. Bolar is an amazing doctor. He is very professional and yet very personable at the same time. He is very thorough and is more than willing to take the time to answer any and all questions you or your family may have. Everyone in his office is friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. Bolar!
I must say that I was totally impressed with the professionalism and compassion of Dr. Bolar and his staff. I would have to say that both his surgical competence and bedside manner are awesome. The 250 mile drive to his office was wel worth the time and effort. My impression has not changed about hime or his staff. They're great. Overall, I would rate him a 10.
I felt at ease to ask any questions I had at the first visit. I did not seem rushed at all, he was patient, kind, and appeared to know the surgery well. The office staff is very busy, but do seem to be caring. I feel his surgical competence as well as bedside manner were very good. He always let you as well as family know what was going on.
Recently switched from Dr. Grandia to Dr. Bolar (at least thinking about it). I have not met with Dr. Bolar yet so I am not sure what he is like. I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Bolar and his clinic takes only the allowable amount my insurance will pay. In other words, instead of having to pay my 10% plus anything charged over the allowed amount (according to BCBS), I just have to pay my 10%.
Dr. Grandia was a very personable up-front guy. He answered all of my questions and when he wasn't positive of an answer (it was more about nutrition than the surgery), then he got the right person and I got my answer. The office staff was wonderful. You could tell they enjoy their jobs. They were very helpful and courteous. The only thing I am a little uneasy about is that after surgery you are more than likely not in a private room. Therefore, you spouse or family member can only stay until visiting hours are over. I would really like for someone to be with me all the time...just to keep an eye out. (But I quess if that is the only real complaint...that's pretty good) Dr. Grandia is with Holzer Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss and so they are suppose to have excellent after care. They only perform open RNY at this time. They also require a psych evaluation before they will send off your paperwork to insurance but that doesn't bother me. My overall experience was a good one. Now I just have to make up my mind.
Dr Bolar is great. He was up front and direct about the procedure from the very beginning, showing me exactly how the surgery works and I feel as if he screens his patients well. His staff is great too. You can call on them anytime and they are always eager to help. What I liked least about Bolar's office is the location. He needs to be in a larger are like lexington. I have not been for my 10 day post op check up so I regretfully don't have as much info. as others may. I would like to let everyone know that Dr. Bolar's office did a wonderful job getting my insurance approved. They just told me what I needed to get for them and in a few weeks later I was approved.
