Marina Kurian Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Well I must say that Dr. Kurian is OFF DA HOOK, from the moment she walked into the room to talk to me she was very open with answering anything I had concerns about. Its not much to say about Dr. Kurian but that she is DOWN TO EARTH, MAD COOL and even though she looks very young she knows her work. Like I would say she is a TRU DIVA, WORK IT DR.KURIAN. I would recommend anyone to her who is thinking about having WLS.

Dr. Kurian was very gentle, affectionate, sensitive and kind. Her staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.

My first impression was that she was intelligent and to-the-point. She seemed very knowledgeble and extremely confident in her ability to do the surgery well. Underneath the businesslike person, she is warm, but had very little time to spend with her patients (although she did remind me to make another appointment for just the two of us to talk if I had more questions or wasn't comfortable, which I greatly appreciated). Dr. Kurian does have a structured after care program. Patients should know that while her time is very limited, she is warm and caring and extremely knowledgeble about weight loss surgery. She is one of the top WL surgeons in the country.

I love Dr. Kurian, she made me feel totally relaxed throughout the entire ordeal. Almyra, her receptionist was also very helpful, but her nurse Pritee was a little cold. Marina is definatly a wonderful surgeon and i definatly reccomend her to anyone, however getting in touch with her office is sometimes difficult so don't be discouraged and keep trying, leave messages and they will call back. Marina keeps her patients well informed of risks and stays in touch with them after surgery...on a scale of one to ten she is a hundred :).

I had been serching for a Dr. for quite some time and I guess I can say that I wasn't all that impressed with any of them until I met Dr. Kurian.I was referred to her by my Dr. from Sloan Kettering because one of her other patients had the surgery done by her.You know how they say that sometimes first impressions are everything? Well in this case it was!
I knew from the first consultation that she was going to be my Dr.She has a warm personality and the feeling that I got from talking to her was that she really loves what she does. She takes time to explain everything and she makes you feel so comfortable that I felt I was talking to a friend, someone I've known for some time. She's young, vibrant and makes you laugh.
She genuinly cares about you, the patient and follows you post-op with the utmost care.
Her office staff is just as wonderful and they are always on top of things. Almira is a sweetheart! Always there when needed, returning phone calls in a flash.
I rate Dr.Kurian a 10+ and wouldn't change anything. She gave me my life back and I thank God for her.I don't regret having this surgery one bit and would do it again. I believe it saved my life!

Dr Kurian is just fabulous. She has a straightforward nature, a great sense of humor and a very comforting manner. She was just wonderful on my day of surgery.
My family was simply wowed after meeting her. They were so comfortable leaving me in her hands. I love the fact that she responds to email. I'm 10 days out and feeling super. I credit it to her amazing talent. I'm very grateful to her for giving me a second chance at a healthy life.

I spent some time researching Dr Kurian before I scheduled an appointment. After hearing some postive feedback by OR nurses at Lenox Hill, I decided to have my consultation. I was very pleased that she explained the procedure choices
to myself and about six others. After answering some basic Q&A, she met with each one of us individually . I, as well as my boyfriend loved her down to earth nature and quick wittedness. Today, being 2 months post-op I can say I made the right choice in picking a skilled and talented surgoen. Thanks Dr Kurian! And God Bless Omira her assistant. Lord knows I drove her mad with all my questions.

My first impression of her was that she was funny and witty and intelligent. My impression just got better over time. Everyone is really nice in the office. I would've liked her to be a bit more warm, but she was great. She's not the warmest woman but she's brilliant, she didn't talk a lot about her aftercare cuz she knows i don't live in the city. Surgical competencea nd bedside manner are both important I'd give her a 9 out of 10 because as a surgeon she was perfecta nd really nice, it's just I would've liked a nicer bedside manner, but she was still amazing.

Based on my own personal experience I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Marina Kurian, MD. From the date of my first appoingment with her (pre-op consult) in October 2002 she has given me the very best care, and medical treatment. She is an excellent surgeon and saved my life in more ways than 1! Her office staff is kind, courteous and efficient.

MY FIRST MEETING WITH DR. KURIAN WAS GREAT. SHE WAS VERY INFORMITIVE AND HONEST. SHE ADDRESSED THE RISKS OF EACH TYPE OF SURGERY OPENLY AND VERY BLUNTLY AND DID NOT TRY TO SUGAR-COAT ANYTHING. I STRONGLY RECCOMEND HER IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR HONESTY AND OPENNESS WITH A DOCTOR.
