Excellent surgeon. She tells it like it is and doesn't pull any punches. I am a nurse and she seems to know that we are the WORST patients. Her office staff is great. They always answer your calls quickly and try to be accommodating even though their practice is huge. I would highly recommend her and the entire group. I did get to meet the other physicians while I was a patient in the hospital (Dr. Ren and Dr. Fielding) and I have nothing bad to say about either.

From the moment I met Dr Kurian at the info session, my experience has been nothing but positive every step of the way!rnrnDr Kurian was very helpful explaining the lap band procedure to my family member who came with me to the consultation and was concerned about the risks. rnrnOn the day of surgery, Dr Kurian came in to see me before the surgery and explained everything that was going to happen. My surgery took a little longer than expected, so he made sure that my mother was notified in the waiting room with what was happening so she wasn't worried. The day after the surgery, Dr Kurian did not come to see me before I was discharged, however, the nutritionist from the office came by to re-explain some of the dietary rules for the weeks following surgery. rnrnThe office staff at NYU is incredible. They work as a team and seem like one big family. If I have a question or concern, I am put in touch with the person who can help me right away. There has been two occasions when I have needed an un-fill, and I called the office and they made sure I could be seen by one of the doctors or nurses in the office as soon as possible.rnrnWhen I go to follow up apointments, I never have to wait long to be seen by the doctor. Dr Kurian sometimes seems like she is in a rush, however, she is very conversational and remembers things about my personal life/career that I have shared with her at past apointments. If I have questions for her, I make sure to come with them written down so I can get all the answers I need before she leaves the room. rnrnDr Kurian and the staff at NYU is great!!!!

When I first met Dr. Kurian I was extremely nervous. She kept rubbing my back and telling me that everything would be okay. She is so nurturing. She just made me feel really comfortable and at ease. Besides her expertise in bariatric surgery, she adds a personal touch to all of her cases. I would definitely recommend her to any one.

My first impression of Dr. Kurian was wow she is young. (lol) Off the back I liked her. When she first meet me she told me wow look at that big smile you have. She sat down with me and my mother and told us everything we needed to know about the surgery. She even asked personal questions to get to know what type of person I was. She was very genuine and treated me more than just another patient. On the day of surgery she came in my prep room and chatted with my family and I. We spoke about cruises and places wev'e traveled to before. We laughed and shared each other stories. You would think that I was not about to have surgery any minute. When I first went to the center I had three doctors to pick from. I ask the receptionist which one had the closest date and she told me Dr. Kurian, so I decided to go with her. My mom wanted me to go with the most popular surgeon but I told her all three surgeons were good. I had a gut feeling about Dr. Kurian and even though I had to reschedule my surgery and had the opportunity to pick a different surgeon and decided to stick with Dr. Kurian again. I just knew she was the right person for the job and I was right. She is wonderful and I have no regrets picking her or doing the surgery. Thanks Dr. Kurian. You’re the Best!!!rnrnP.S. The only problem I had at NYUMC was the coordinator NILSA. That woman is the worst and I plan on writing a long letter about her horriable service. She is the worst and needs to learn how to do her job better.

I always felt Dr. Kurian was completely professional and really down-to-Earth. She continued to prove herself to be very confident and very caring. On the day of surgery she gave me a hug and words of encouragement. She held my hand when the iv was going and made sure I stayed laughing. The entire surgical staff was amazing. Everyone was warm and put me completely at ease. I have not been in the office very much, but I have interacted with Tammy (patient advisor) and Johanna (surgical coordinator) who have both been very sweet and extremely helpful. I do wish I had more interaction with the offfice, but I am still glad I chose this group! I will see Dr. Kurian next week for my follow up. I am very excited about my journey. She is the best!rnrn

MY SURGEON WAS GREAT,GREAT,GREAT!!!!!rnSHE WAS SO KIND , NURTURING AND SO UNDERSTANDING OF MY ANXIETY PRE-OP. I WAS VERY NERVOUS ABOUT ANESTHESIA BUT SHE HELD MY HAND AS THEY STARTED MY IV AND UNTIL I WENT TO SLEEP. SHE THEN CAME TO SEE ME IN THE EVENING AND AGAIN BEFORE DISCHARGE. I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HER.
Well,I can say I completely love Dr. Kurian! I was gonna go with a diferent surgeon, but I really wanted dr. Kurian to do my surgery, cause I have heard lots of great things about her. I gotten approved the insurance she accepted so I was able to have her do my surgery. She was alittle worried to do my surgery first only because I was having bad dreams and was real scared, but she did make me feel at ease and I just went with it and had the surgery and I was fine I healed real quick very little pain,I was in more pain with my c-sections,lol. But yeah I am currently almost 8 weeks out and lost 54 pounds, wow amazing huh. But,She is very kind and funny and she knows her stuff! So,I recomend her to anyone who wants to get a gastric bypass,or lap band! She is a 10!
