At first I have to say I was afraid to meet with her, but she made me feel so comfortable from her smile when she first walked through the door. My impression of Dr. Kurian only got better with time. I needed to loose a little weight before I had WLS, and there was a time when I lost most but gained a couple of pounds back I was so hard on myself I was sitting in the office crying and she just hugged me and told me things will be okay. The staff as a whole was always kind and considerate to everyone's feelings. They always made sure you was comfortable. Any future patients of hers should know she is kind hearted and very easy to speak to so don't be afraid to let her know exactly what you are feeling and thinking. Dr. Kurian has several things she feels you should do after WLS, to the point she will call and check up on you. She speaks on all the risks that could happen during surgery, however at the same time you feel as if this needs to be done. I would rate her 100+++++. Her surgical competence and bedside manner are both beyond great.

Dr. Kurian performed my surgery on 2/13/07. She is a excellant, informative and a caring doctor. Excellent bedside manner, takes time to anserw your questions as well as deal with ones medical needs and concerns. She is highly recommended.

Love, love, love Dr. Kurian! She's direct, no-nonsense and compassionate, which is precisely what a WLS patient needs. The information session is thorough -- they don't paint an unrealistic picture. You will have to work at losing weight. My parents were very impressed when they met her briefly post-op. I highly recommend her for both surgery and post-op care.rnrnThe staff is very professional and helpful. Initially it was hard to get through for the first appointment, but once I did I felt very well taken care of. The office services a high number of patients, so wait times can be longer than you may anticipate. You just need to plan for some wait time (bring a good book).

My first impression of her was a very good one. She looked young but she new what she could do. Nothing changed my mind about her, she was the surgeon I wanted. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was nothing that I didn't like about her. She was very staight forward. I would recommend her for any of my friends who was willing to travel down to the city to see her.

My pre surgical, surgical and post surgical experience with Dr. Kurian and her staff has been extremely positive. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kurian. Her surgical competence, knowledge, bedside manner, warmth and understanding are without equal. She is patient and will explain everything to you including the risks. Not only did she do my gastric bypass but she also operated on a surgical hernia I had, from a hysterectomy done by another physician. Follow up care is excellent at her office and of course here is the best part- I lost about 93 pounds as a result of the weight loss surgery. My gastric bypass was in December of 2004 and it was the best decision I ever made in my life. I am a woman \" of a certain age\"- 50's and all I can say is--I wish this surgery had been available to me in my 20's 30's and 40's. I have so much more energy, hardly any medical problems now- no more borderline blood pressure or cholesterol problems. I have a herniated disc that no longer troubles me. I look good and am exercising in hopes of toning further and maybe even losing more weight through diet. Technically, I am still about 20 pounds overweight and this last piece I will need to work on seriously if I am to lose it. The surgery alone won't take off the remaining 20 pounds , but hey, needing to lose 20 is a lot better than needing to lose 110! When you need to lose 100 pounds, you just give up after a while- for me I always gave up after about 30 pounds and would then proceed to re gain those 30. Well - no more. I only have to lose 20 and that's if I want to. If I don't lose all of the remaining 20, I still look and feel great. Not even in childhood, did I feel this good. Good Luck to all of you. Dr. Kurian did my Lap Band surgery. I am so happy. I chose to have her as my surgeon. She is amazing. She has a great personality, which right away put me at ease, but was honest about all aspects of my surgery. She answere all the questions I had preop is sensitive to what life is like for those of us who are obese and making this life altering decision. The office staff was unbelievably attentive. Anytime I have called and needed my call to be returned it has been done within that day and usually within a few hours.

I would absolutely recomment Dr. Kurian to anyone who is thinking of having weight loss surgery.

Dr. Kurian is a phenomenal person and i am very happy I chose her as my surgeon. She is a very competant Doctor. Her staff is stellar as well. What I also greatly appreciate is that Dr. Kurian is a woman and a woman of color. Which to me is also very important, in addition to Dr. Kurian being a highy respected and competant Doctor. I also appreciate Kurian, Roslin's and Shah's continued research on WLS and lap instruments to further improve Bariatric surgery. Their seminar fully expalins the risks and stress WLS as being a tool not a cure.

i had surgery done six weeks ago and lost 42lbs already. Dr.Kurian is a wonderfull doctor and person. She is very confident in her knoweledge. As a nurse i worked with a lot off doctors and i can say that she is a perfect 10. I am on the way to my skinny life thanks to her.

Dr. Marina Kurian is wonderful and she is very attentive.
I feel confident in her abilities and her experience. I recommend her and her office highly. I have not had any issues with sheduling and/or having my surgery. My recovery was quick and un-eventfull.
Post-care and the first fill was pretty painless and right on target.
I feel warm and fuzzy knowing that even if she is not available, there are 2 other doctors in her practice just as qualified and caring (Paresh Shah, M.D. and Mitchell S. Roslin M.D.)
