My initial impression was very good. I'm not the best with doctors having been around sickness my whole life with family. (I'd rather avoid them and I'm sure them me) Also I feel rather disserved by doctors over the years who told me things that weren't true and symptoms I had were "in my head."

Dr. Miles was nice, but he didn't seem to approve of my low carb lifestyle, but low carbing took off 100 lbs and has kept it off for 10 years. Course I'm used to the negative attitude about that.

I plan to follow my low carb diet as soon as recover enough to handle meat.

Anyone else do low carb? Funny thing is alot of the post operation diet seems to emphasize protein.

Well I'm now 4 Days Post Op and doing great. I was able to go to work this morning and so far I'm doing great!

I had absolutely no problems, pain, sickness, etc. with the surgery (other than hurting my neck trying to over protect my stomach.) This was the only thing I wanted pain medicine for! That went away on Day 3.

I was able to go home the day after surgery! This was the best because I was sick to death of the hospital. Med Center East is great, but I don't much like sitting around doing nothing.

I was very bloated from all the gas as I left the hospital and had a bit of heartburn. Mom had some Malox Max and being very brave decided this couldn't possibly hurt. Well it relieved the gas and the heartburn. Gas/bloating was a huge problem for me after my Apendectomy in April and this was the part of WLS surgery I dreaded Thanks Malox Max!

My advice to everyone is approach this with a positive attitude. I made up my mind I wasn't going to whine and moan in front of my mom who was already distressed about my surgery. I also made up my mind I was going home the day after surgery. So I did not wait for them to ask me to walk, I asked them and I made sure everybody saw me walking, including the doctors! Once they see that, you can go home!

Well don't have any earth shattering weight loss to report. Guess I won't have that until next week.

My first impression of Dr. Miles was that he appeared to be very professional, informative, and knowledgable.

Over time he has proven this to be his overall personality and not just his first impression.

His staff is absolutely a God sent. They are always very pleasant and willing to be of assistance.

I have no complaints of Dr. Miles and his staff as of today's date 02/19/02.

All patients considering Dr. Miles for surgery should rest assured that he indeed is qualified and holds your safety in his hands with the utmost of care.

Aftercare is a very vital part of his program. It's a must, and his pre-op screening is absolutely marvelous. He has a genuine concern for the health and success of his patients, not just short term, but throughout there lifes duration.

Dr. Miles does have a structured aftercare support system, besides his mandatory visits he encourages his patients to become pre/post support group members.

He was very honest about the risk of this surgery as was he of the benefits.

In rating Dr. Miles overall; on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best: I rate Dr. Miles a 10++++ tipping the scales.

I believe when you deal with people in general and you maintain a professional job, it is your duty to be competent in your job and have the best of people skills. The way you treat people, helps to establish your professionlism in the long run. It makes you a much easier person to work with.

I truly liked Dr. Miles and his
staff. I felt very comfortable with
him, and he did not rush me as so
many doctors do. He informed me of
the risks and benefits, and let me
ask as many questions as I liked.
Deborah, his coordinator, is the
same. She does not rush you, and she
handled all of my paperwork in an
efficient manner.

Just one more quick note on Dr. Miles.
He's a great surgeon. Very professional,
but friendly at the same time. I would
truly recommend him to anyone. (Note: I
am now 19 days post-op, so I speak from
experience!)

My first impression of Dr. Miles was very good. I actually met him when he did gallblatter surgery on my husband a few years ago. Dr. Miles and his staff was willing and able to answer all my question. It did take a while to get my papers sent to the insurance company, but Dr. Miles has alot of patients.

I really like Dr Miles. He seems very sincere and caring about his patients. My husband and I went to his seminar and I was very pleased with him right away. For one thing, he talks in a manner that I can understand. He doesn't confuse you with a bunch of garbage that we don't know beans about. He explains all about the procedure and about the committment that will be expected from his patient. He didn't give me a sense of false hope, but he did give me hope and he made me feel secure in my decision to have the surgery and to let Dr Miles be the one to help me change my life!

Very Professional, patient with me and answered all my questions. I just did not know all the questions to ask.
He continues to be helpful, has gotten extremely busy. A few things I was not told before surgery. Overall, very well satisfied. My surgery went very well and I thank him for that.
Dr. Miles office staff (especially Deborah) was wonderful to me. Feel like they have gotten way to busy as well and need more help how.
Dr. Miles really emphasized aftercare, and adjusts this care for each patients needs.
Yes, he does have a structured aftercare program.
I was told all the risks of surgery.

I was rate him as an excellent surgeon.

Has equal surgical competence and bedside manner.

I got my first impression of Dr. Miles, when I attended a seminar that he held at Medical Center East the day after New Years 2002. He gave a lot of the information that I had already read about, but he also answered a lot of my questions, that I had before I went to the seminar. The next day I called and scheduled my initial consultation and expected I would have to wait for at least a month, but my appointment was scheduled for two weeks later. The staff was helpful and informative.

The one thing that I can tell anyone is that if you are not serious or completely dedicated, then it will waste your time going to see him. He will help you in everyway, but you have to be serious and dedicated.

I first met Dr. Miles at a Seminar on 12/28/01. I couldn't wait to get an appointment and did see him on 01/18/02. My first impression is "he's the greatest"!
I've had my chest xray, all my labs, and go next week for a sleep study! Very anxious!

I started off going to Medical Center East to the seminar & listened to Dr miles & his staff that were there ..I was very pleased with all the information that given. Then i still waited about 3 months be for i went for my first appointment I was still gathering more information to make sure this is what I wanted. When I went to Dr. Miles office for my first appointment I had to wait for him for a while but the nurse came in and explained he had a patient in xray that he was concerned about & he want to be there in xray that impressed me that he was concerned enough about that patient to want to be there ..His staff is wonderful Ms Deborah is so special and helpful............
