I was greatly impressed with Dr. Miles. He was very honest about the good and bad sides to this surgery. Once I made up my mind, he was very supportive. He has a great bed-side manner!
Deborah, in Dr. Miles' office is wonderful! She is easy to reach and is really good about filling out forms quickly.
Dr. Miles emphasized that after surgery - use common sense, take it easy and do what feels ok for you.
I saw Dr. Miles 1 week after leaving the hospital. I will see hime in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. Then I will see him once a year thereafter.
In my opinion, surgical competence is the most important thing.
dr. les miles is just the best, he cares for his patient's and has the best bedside manners. he drew a picture for me and my husband and explained everything to us! he wants you to go to his seminar before surgery, and encourges you to attend the support group meetings. his office personal is just the best, esp. deborah! without her i don't know what i would have done. i called crying to her several times and she would always tell me not to worry she would take care of it, and she did! also my husband is a big mississippi state fan and dr. miles is an ole miss. fan, i of course am a bama fan, he cut up with us about that! he was just so fun to be around, but when he talked about the surgery he was very serious. when he walked me to deborah's office to get the insurance started he put his hand on my shoulder and told me not to worry that he would take good care of me and so would deborah, and you know what? they all have.
i liked him the first time i met him.my impression has not changed .his staff is great but debra is the greatest.that his office is 2 hours from my house.that he dont beat around the bush ,he tells you just like it is the good and the bad,he will anwser all your questions if it takes all day,and i love that.aftercare is verrrry important to him.yes.like i said before he addresses everything.to me hes the best.both are great .some dr.s dont care about over weight people but dr. miles does and really wants us to have a healthier lifestyle. and for that i love him and would recommed him to anyone. sherri
Dr. Miles and his staff are the best! I felt very welcome even when I first walked in the door! The nurses were very sweet and had smiles on their faces, which was a big relief since I was a tad bit nervous! When Dr. Miles walked in the door he shook my hand and smiled! He was so down-to-earth and sweet and totally made me feel at ease! After talking with him, I felt even more comfortable in my decision to have the surgery! There really isn't anything that I didn't like about him! He completely explained to me about the surgery and the after-effects! He also explained the risks of having the surgery compared to the risks of being overweight! I would definitely give him an A+ or a perfect ten if you prefer :o) He was wonderful! I'm so glad I chose him to be my surgeon!!!
My surgeon was wondersul. Hw was so nice and acted as if he really understood what I was going through. Im really proud that i picked him. And the hospital staff at Medical Center East was amazing. And the staff at Dr. Miles office. He emphasized the aftercare a lot. He made me meet with a dietician and she was also ver helpful.I would rate him a 10/10 on my scale.
Dr. Miles performed my surgery on 11-19-01 at Medical Center East in Birmingham, AL. I have been very pleased with Dr. Miles. His office administrator, Debra is on top of things and she seems to work on autopilot. My surgery went well and the only serious pain I had was from the drain tube. After meeting with Dr Miles a couple of times I knew what to expect before / after the surgery. Overall Dr. Miles and his staff did an excellent job for me.
I first met Dr. Miles at the support group meeting(F.A.C.E.S OF WLS) at Medical Center East in Birmingham. He seemed like a very nice and caring man. I was seeing Dr. Clements at the time and was waiting for my letter to be sent off for ins. approval and it was never sent so I said enough was enough so I called Dr. Miles office on a Monday 10/15/01 and Debroah said that I would have to go to a seminar and then she could get me a appt. I went to the seminar 10/16/01 and my appt. is 10/18/01. I really think this office is great and very caring I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about having this surgery. He tells you that this surgery is just a tool and what you do with it is up to you, and that it will not make you some instant super model but it will improve your health, but you will still have to watch what you eat and work for it.
I was extremely impressed with Dr. Miles. He treated me like a person. Not a fat person ,,, just a person.
I liked the fact that he seemed comfortable with talking until I was satisfied with the answers. Everyone in his staff treated me with respect. The first time I went to his office my teen-aged daughter was with me. The nurse very discretly had my daughter enter the examination room while she obtained my weight. I really appreciated that.
Dr. Miles came to see me before my surgery in the holding area.... He came to see me in SICU and even called back at 9 that evening to check on me. He visited me twice each day while I was in the hospital.
I had a little problem with nausea after I got home. I called thinking that Debra would get something called in for me. Instead to my surprise Dr. Miles came on the phone and spent at least 10 minutes talking with me. I'd give him a 10 out of a possible 10 points. He is absolutely great!
