Les Miles Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Well, I don't know what happened to the first information I put in here...it has disappeared.
So, I'll try this again.
Dr. Miles is absolutely wonderful! He made me feel comfortable from the moment I met him. We thoroughly discussed pre and post-op processes, including operating procedures, dietary needs, post-op supplement needs, and post-op excercise routines.
He answered all my questions and was very honest about the mortality rate of this and any surgery on an obese person. I was very impressed with his genuine interest in my well being and I feel confident in my decision to have this procedure. I am very lucky to have found a competent surgeon that also has a great beside manner.
His office staff is wonderful too. Especially the efforts given by Deborah! She seems to be the "heart" of the office....she stays in constant touch with you and your insurance to make sure everything is going smoothly.
She makes every effort to combine as many pre-op tests in one day to save you time and energy. She's really a very special person!
I would suggest anyone considering this surgery to see Dr. Miles....and good luck.

My first impression of Dr. Miles was a positive one . He was giving a siminar about Gastric Bypass. He was thorough and helpful. By no means do I mean to sound condescending, but I had done enough research on this subject to go head to head with most anyone. During my first appointment with him I found him to be delightful. He not only was helpful he seemed glad he could help me out. When I told him I thouhgt my insurer would be a problem he immediately had his office go to work. They too seemed more than glad to assist me.
Dr. Miles wants all of his patients to be educated in this matter. In both the surgery and the aftercare. He required me to attend the seminar prior to my initial visit. At first i was not to keen on the idea, but it put me in touch with a support group in the area. He also feels the support group is a positive move and suggest you join. I thought that was a little pushy at first, but they have a real life saver so far. It helps me from getting frustrated with the insurance company. Over all I would recommend Dr. Miles to everyone. So far i have only experienced the positive with him and his staff.

My first impression of Dr. Miles was that he is a very caring man. Later I learned that he is a Christian man. The people in my support group that used Dr. Miles absolutely love him and it looks like I will too. His office staff is O.K. There was one nurse and unfortuneately I don't remember her name, but she was more than helpful. Deborah, the lady that did all the insurance paperwork and scheduling for me is an absolute doll. He was very frank about the risks of surgery. He did not try to sugar-coat anything. But you know in your heart that he truly cares for you and your well-being. So far I would rate his staff with a 8 - however, Deborah would get a 10. If she says she'll call you back - she'll call you back. Dr Miles has yet to perform the surgery, so I will hold off rating him at this point in time.

Dr. Miles was great. He answered my questions and made me feel better about the surgery. He was very confident that I could be a "big loser". His office staff was very helpful...and Deborah kept me updated on every step she took.

It only took 15 minutes to get me approved. Thank you Deborah and Dr. Miles!!

I met Dr. Miles on July 23 for the first time. He was friendly, professional, very upbeat about surgery. He explained the surgery as well as aftercare very well. He explained the risks of surgery as well as the risks I face if I don't have the surgery. He also emphasized the importance of following diet and exercise for the rest of my life because surgery is only a tool. His office staff was friendly and helpful. I would rate Dr. Miles and his staff as A+. His nurse, Debra is wonderful. She has been very prompt with getting me approved by BC/BS. And, she is so pleasant and encouraging. I am very confident about the surgery. This is just my personal impression based on the first visit. I am making no statement about what other people may experience.

My doctor is Les Miles from Birmingham, AL. He is so great! At my first consultation he took his time and made sure I knew everything I wanted to know. He is very down to earth and has a great bed side manner. He has been so sweet throughout my process. Everytime he has seen me out he always makes a point to speak to me. Also he has a wonderful lady that works in his office. Her name is Deborah, and she is awesome! She constantly kept in touch with me and answered all of my insurance questions and handled all of my insurance problems. She was my fighter! My surgery is schelduled for September 10,2001, so I will let everyone know how my surgery went. I have no doubts about my surgeon and his staff.

Dr. Miles is a wonderful man. He will listen to all of your questions and answer them honestly. I was very impressed with his office staff. Deborah and Tracy are both wonderful! He encourages patients to attend a support group. He is very personable and caring toward his patients.

Dr. Miles was very up front about saying that he had only recently started doing this
procedure, but that he has done surgery for the past 11 years and that by the time he
got to mine he would be pretty experienced.
I was a little skeptical and wanted a second
opinion. I called around and the only thing
I could get was like 3 or 4 mos away. So I
started researching every nite on WLS and went a support meeting that Dr Miles attended
and answered alot of questions and I started
to see him for who he really is and that is
a surgeon who has many years experience and
the more I got to know him the more I came to
like about him. So I have decided to use him
for my surgeon and I feel very confident about him now. As for his office staff
I am very impressed and let me tell you that
is saying a mouth full for me since I am in the medical field and I seem to expect way too much from my doctors office staff. His
Nurse Deborah has very helpful with helping me to get things together to send in to insurance and one thing I will say she has always taken my calls or if I had to leave a
message she always called me back and that
means alot to me.
