I thought he was very nice, cordial, but he did not really spend a lot of time with me. I reviewed my chart and said \"lets do it\". I was excited he thought I would qualify for the surgery, but he left the room and now I am scheduled for surgery. He did ask if I had any questions and if I had concidered the lap band and he was thourough, but quick.

I highly recommend Dr. Miles as a surgeon and a WLS doctor (pre-op and Post). I like his matter-of-fact style - that really works for me. He is very honest and will spend all the time you need. His staff is wonderful. I saw his nurse practitioner this week when I went for my 1-week post op visit. She was in the surgery - but, of course, I don't remember her at all! She was really great also. Veronica, his Bariatric Coordinator, is great. She had gastric bypass surgery years ago and is a true inspiration. She has such a good attitude about life that is makes me see that I, too, can suceed at this! Great staff, great doctor.

At first Dr. Miles came across as very brusque and I got the impression that his biggest concern was whether or not I was going to blow his success rate. However, by my last visit just before surgery, I had grown to like him. I must have caught him on a bad day the first time.rnrnI chose his program at Medical Center East because it is so comprehensive. There is a support group, nutrional counseling, and all sorts of other services. They're very thorough with the pre-op process and if you don't meet the requirements (including pre-op weight loss) they will cancel your surgery. By the time I was wheeled into the operating room, I KNEW what I was getting myself into.rnrnI came through the surgery with no complications whatsoever and his overall mortality rate is VERY low, much lower than the national average.rnrnMy only complaint is that I saw Dr. Miles just before I went under for the actual surgery and didn't see him again until my second year post-op check. Every visit between the those times was with his nurse practioners. Don't get me wrong, they're wonderful, but it would have been nice to actually see my surgeon. When I did see him, he was honestly happy for me and asked for before and after photos, which I happily sent to him.

I met Dr. Miles at the WLS Seminar and he was very nice including the staff that scheduled my initial consultation. My consultation went very well. The only concern I am having is that I have called everyday this week to see if they have received my clearance letter from my PCP, last 3 year medical records, any additional information needed. Everytime I call or email the person handling the information for the office, the response is "Nothing received" or I receive no response at all and never a callback. I called my GI physician, Urologist, and PCP, who all stated that they faxed documents to the office, and will send me confirmation that fax went through successfully. I know that I was told on the day of my consultation that the assistant who handles the process to submit to the insurance company will be leaving this month, so someone will be taking her place. I don't know what has or hasn't been received, so I guess if I haven't heard anything within the next two weeks, I will callback again.

I FIRST MET DR. MILES AT A WLS SEMINAR THAT HE REQUORES YOU TO ATTEND.HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT THE SURGERY,HE WENT OVER THE PROCEDURE WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB,SO MUCH SO THAT WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR MY CONSULTATION WITH HIM,THERE WAS NOTHING REALLY LEFT TO ASK.HE REALLY WENT OVER COMPLICATIONS WITH ME TO MAKE SURE I UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO.

first impression was absolutely awesome, we knew right off hand that dr. miles scoped you out to be sure you were 100% sure about going through the surgery and you knew ALL THE COMPLICATIONS and he was wonderful. he obviously did a fantastic job with the surgery, probably no surgeon any better in my book. office staff was thorough professional and very informative BEFORE SURGERY. future patients should know that if they need ANYTHING after the surgery.....it's not likely that dr. miles or his staff will be quite as accomodating as they were before the surgery. make sure you find out EVERYTHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY EVER HAPPEN AS FAR AS A SIDE EFFECT OR ANYTHING AT ALL THAT MIGHT GO WRONG MINOR OR MAJOR. if you know absolutely everything about medicine and surgical procedures mabe even go to medical school to know everything there is to know about the body you might not need to contact dr. miles or his staff...you will be fine. otherwise, you will be crushed to find out that they are very strict about their after care accomodations. i would rate dr. miles overall as a great surgeon, best there is. his staff is very professional and i'm sure with the volume of patients they tend to they do the best they can with their manners handling problems you might have. the best thing is to just not have any problems or questions after the surgery because once their job is done with the surgery.......the compassion is pretty much gone on their part. bedside manner is very important to me because i am a very sensitive person, but surgical competence is of the utmost importance and dr. miles is the best there is.

Dr. Miles was great from the first time I met him.. He went out of his way to talk to me after my first wls meeting..he went over everything with me and my wife and his office help was extremely helpful..He has a personality unlike most Dr.s I've met.. He's friendly and puts you at ease..I trust him and that means a lot.I highly recommend him to anyone facing this..

My first impression of Dr. Miles is he is very direct -- doesn't beat around the bush. What I like most about him is his straight-forward approach--he wants you to know what you are doing so you will be prepared after the surgery. I personally prefer the direct approach so I know where I stand. Dr. Miles stikes me as a perfectionist who has an eye for details, and that is exactly who I want when I'm on the surgery table. In my opinion, warm and fuzzy is not his strong suit, although I certainly saw more of his sense of humor at my first post-op visit. Dr. Miles answered all my questions fully regarding risks prior to the surgery, and he took as much time as needed to make sure those questions were answered and that I had no others. I would rate Dr. Miles as excellent. Surgical competence is his strong suit. There were a few bumps in the road in getting my insurance paperwork submitted, however, after his office staff resolved that issue, it was smooth sailing.
