I attended the WLS seminar in which Dr. Schmitt was speaking. Right away I had complete trust in him and his staff. Just a feeling I had and I had heard such great things about the whole MCE staff. He did an awesome job. GREAT surgeon. However, my only problem was that I havn't seen him since the morning before surgery. His associates visited with me while in the hospital and when I went to have my staples and drain removed the nurse practitioner did it. I'm sure I will see him at my 3 month check up, but I think it would have made me feel alot better to have seen him. Don't get me wrong.... I love the man. He has essentially saved my life.

I talked to several doctors before DR. Schmitt. He was very friendly and seemed to be very experienced, in the area. He went over everything in detail. I was impressed with him. I am just waiting to hear something now. The only negative thing I have to say is: I wish I was given some type of time line, so I know when, appoximately, I can expect to have the surgery.

I met Dr. Schmitt today. Like so many others I think he looks young. He answered every question I asked. Was very supportive in explaining the need for me to have open RNY instead of the lap. He went into detail about what to expect post-op. I felt very comfortable with him.
His entire staff was very helpful. Even though the waiting room was packed I was in an out in an hour.It really helps to have prior medical records already in the office. Anything you can do before you see them will help get you an earlier date.
This practice really focuses on pre-op,post-op care. They really go into detail about the risks. But if you have done your homework you will be prepared. I suggest to every one-----research, research, research. Be an imformed consumer.
There was only one negative thing I felt. Being as efficient as their staff is you may feel like they are shuffling you around like cattle. But it is quick. Remember this is my personal opinion.

Dr. Schmitt is a very caring & competent physician. His staff is very supportive. From the very beginning, he stresses the importance of this being a lifestyle change and keeping in mind the things that will cause a person to be successful in maintaining a normal weight.

My first impression of Dr. Schmitt was very favorable. I attended WLS seminar at Medical Center East where he explained the RNY procedure. He took great care to outline the benefits and the risks involved in the operation. His office staff was professional and most helpful.

A patient is required to attend a support group, a nutrition class, a physiological evaluation and a sleep apnea evaluation. All of this is worth the effort to insure a safe and successful RNY procedure.

I chose Dr. Schmitt because of the up front program and the reputation of the follow up care and treatment.

I have not has surgery yet, but so far I'm well pleased with Dr. Schmitt and his staff.

My first impression of Dr. Schmitt was good. He was very nice and very truthful about the surgery.

It stayed the same.

Mostly friendly and helpful.

He will expect you to lose weight before surgery.

Dr. Schmitt was a lot of fun to meet. He looks as though he's about 16 years old. He seemed like he had a great sense of humor. He has a great track record so far, no patients lost! His staff was wonderful. And Debra, his insurance lady rocks!

First impression--boy is he young, but hey, sometimes that is good. He and his staff are extremely efficient, businesslike, and very very busy. I suppose that's what I like the least, he is very very busy, and rarely has a lot of time to give to any one patient. Aftercare is very important to this practice, but...it is not offically structured--you are expected to come in for regular follow-ups. The pre-op testing basically tells the doctor who will and will not be compliant. Overall, I'd rank Dr. Schmitt very high. I am not looking for a buddy in a surgeon, I want the most competent, professional, well-trained, well-supported doctor, not someone to hold my hand.

I was familiar with Dr. Schmitt as he had performed my gallbladder operation 5 years ago. I was somewhat disappointed as I had understood from reading other people's experience that he would come across as caring, etc. But, he was running behind when he got to me and I felt more like I was taking up some of his valuable time. I do know he is a very competent surgeon and have no misgivings about him doing the surgery.

Dr. Scmitt is a super man!! He saved me. He gave me the tool to get a life. His main concern for me was to make sure that I wanted the surgery for the right reasons, and that I physically able to have the surgery. He has been there for me for any questions and concerns that I have had. The office staff is wonderful, just need to get paper work more organized, then they would be the ultimate. I would and have reccommend him to anyone considering having the surgery. You will find no better than he and his staff and the hospital staff, and his dietitian is the greatest for bariatric patients. She alone is makes the ultimate difference for this office and support staff being the best.
