First impression: very nice and informative answered all questions but was very busy.

Impression has not changed still this he is very capable and honest.

Office staff was nice, Deborah and Dawn were extremely nice and seemed to go above and beyond even though they have many people calling sometimes with the same questions.
Least? Had only a few minutes to talk.

Future patients should know, need to have all your paperwork filled out, if not you won't be seen.

AFtercare? did emphasize that it would be required and would need to do what he thought was needed.

Aftercare program? yes

Risks? Yes, they were addressed and in a very matter of fact type of way . He did sugar coat anything, which was good.

Overall? 9 on a scale of 10

Better? Surgical Competence is needed much more in my opinion than bedside manner, Good manner is great , but I would be nore comfortable knowing that they knew what they were doing to me than to hurt me but be nice about it.

My first impression of Dr. Schmitt was that he was a caring doctor who actually had a personality. I adore him! He always makes me smile. Just a little note on his bedside manner: He has the driest sense of humor and he is always cracking jokes. For example: I was TERRIFIED of having my staples removed at 7-10 days post-op. I was sitting on the edge of the bed and he came in all smiles and giving me a high five because I had lost whatever amount of weight and asked what was wrong. I told him I was scared and he said "Well, don't worry about it- this won't hurt me at all." I just looked at him in disbelief and couldn't help but laugh. I told him it wasn't him I was worried about but me. Anyway, when he was finished removing them, he said "Do you recall how many staples you had?" I told him yes I had 14 and he said (as he counted them) "well good I got them all." He is just so funny.
I feel very confident in his abilities as a surgeon and would definatly use him again for any surgerical need. I do highly recommend him for gastric bypass to anyone who asks me. He is very much a supporter of protein supplements and is very knowledge about the benefits of using protein supplements. He always explains his reasons behind why he wants you to do something, not 'Just because'. Also, he is so willing to answer any and all questions you have. I have seen him many times since surgery at either my follow up visits, WLS seminars and support group meetings and he never fails to speak. It's a great feeling to know your surgeon actually CARES about YOU.

Dr. Schmitt (as well as Miles and Rollins - his partners) are great. I was very confident in him going into the procedure. He did a fabulous job, and I couldn't be more pleased. The staff is great. They all know what they are doing, and there are many venues for the education of patients and their families. There were a few nurses in the hospital that didnt give me the care I felt I should have received, but that has been addressed.

HE IS A VERY NICE AND CARING PERSON. THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY. THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT HIM. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE. HE PUT A REALLY BIG EMPHASIZE ON AFTERCARE. THEY HAVE A WEIGHT LOSS GROUP THAT MEETS AT THE HOSPITAL. HE EXPLAINED ALL OF THE RICKS OF SURGERY. OVERALL I WOULD RATE HIM A VERY GOOD SURGEON. BOTH HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER WERE GREAT.

My first impression of Dr. Schmitt was "Wow he is easy to talk to!" He walked in and sat patiently as I asked all of my questions and told him my worries. He answered everything and even some that I hadn't thought of. The program that he has set up is very well structured and makes sure that you are both completely physical and emotionally ready for the procedure.

Dr. Schmitt performed by Lap RYN. The surgery went very well. He answered my questions. I did not see him at all while I was in the hospital (I don't remember my surgery.), but his associates Dr. Miles and Dr. Rollins came in to check on me.

My visit with Dr. Schmitt was very brief. My first impression of him was good. He was very nice. He answered the questions I had in a sensitive manner. The office staff is very helpful and friendly.
