My first reaction to Dr. Houston was that he has a high concern for his patients to understand the procedure and risks. You can tell he cares, however I found him at first a bit "dry", but as I get to know him more and more he is a super great surgeon that cares deeply about the success of his patients.

Dr. Houston's staff and I are working together to get my surgery approved.

When I first met Dr. Houston, I thought he was arrogant and not willing to listen to what I wanted. However, the more I talked with him, the more I saw that the arrogance was simply "more knowledge" of the types of surgery. He challenged my perceptions of different types of WLS and helped me see that while each have their own benefits/risks, certain surgeries work better for different people. WLS is not OSFA! He took great care to explain that while a lap band was perfectly fine in some situations, that I was a much better candidate for actual gastric bypass of some type because of the amount of weight I need to lose. He spent at least an hour with me during my initial consultation answering all of my questions, taking great care to explain everything in detail, but without talking down to me. I left knowing the risks associated with each type of surgery, what happens if certain problems happen, and how he will do everything he can to help me realize my goal of weight loss.

The office staff is very friendly. Very nice. They put me at ease. I often feel looked down upon because of my size, but they never made me feel like less of a person because I am overweight.

Dr. Houston is big on before care and aftercare. He makes sure that you understand that WLS is not a miracle cure, but a tool and that without using the tool correctly, weight loss will not be permanant. There is a solid support system in place for you after your WLS. This is not like having your gall bladder out where you meet the surgeon, have it out, see him once for a check up and then never see him again. When you sign on with Dr. Houston and staff, you are there for life. They are there for you forever.

Dr. Houston was very professional and easy to talk to.
His office staff is fantastic! Very helpful.
He discussed all of the surgical options and covered benefits and risks of each one.
They have a wonderful aftercare program that addresses all of your needs.
My husband and I are both in the medical field and we were very impressed with his competence and beside manner.

He is very professional, answered all my question before I could ask.

His staff is awesome. They are on top of everything and very sweet.

Aftercare is a major part of the whole program at Dr. Houston's office. Exercise therapist, dietician, psychotherapy are all covered.

Yes

All were explained.

surgical competence first and foremost. Dr. Houston's bedside manner is more than adequate though.

My surgeon is Dr. Houston, he did the presentation at the seminar I attended at Centennial. My neighbor had had the lap-band done by Dr. Dyer, so initially with her referral, that's who I was wanting to see, but after listening and talking to Dr. Houston at the seminar, I was very fortunate that he accepted me as a new patient. Having had the band already done by another physician and at another facility, I was/am considered an adoptee patient and the procedure was/is going to be a revision. Having a long list of pre-existing health problems Dr. Houston was still more than willing to accept me as a new patient. My first impression of Dr. Houston was that this is a physician who has great concern, with regard to the welfare of his patients, just as I have/had high expectations of him, he too has the same for me. My first ofc. visit (consultation) was very informatitive, his staff are/were very kind, respectful, caring, encouraging, they made me feel like I was part of their (office) family. Dr. Houston took the time to explain everything very indepth in simple terms where me and my family could understand even though I am a licensed nurse, he also allowed my family and I too ask questions.I most definitely would recommend Dr. Houston and his staff to anyone, after my surgery and during my hospital stay he was always there, he has the most immaculate bedside manner. I have nothing but words of praise both professionally and personally for Dr. Houston and his staff.

Hello, rnrnDr. Hugh Houston was a great doctor, who displayed knowledge of his abilities. I picked him after attending one of his seminars in July of 2009. I was very pleased with the outcome of the surgery. Right now I am just dealing with the fatigue. My Doctor is available and very helpful to all of my needs.

My first impression of Dr. Houston was very professional, yet personal and friendly.

His office is completely set up to make "us" feel comfortable and his staff is friendly and helpful.

I was very impressed with the hospital care and the after care. They definitely want you to succeed, and they have all the tools for us to do so.

The seminar is VERY informative, with all the pros and cons and the risks involving this surgery.

Then my first appointment with him one on one was not rushed, but patience and more information on the surgery, hospital stay and recovery and after care.

I would rate Dr. Houston excellent in competence and bedside manner! A really nice guy!!

Dr. Houston is a very skilled lap surgeon, and he is very easy to talk to. He is a little cocky, but I like that. I want my surgeon to be confident in his skills. He andrnCentennial staff are great. His staff reallyrnknow what they are doing, and are super nice.

My first visit with Dr. Houston was very informative. He wants to make sure you understand everything about the surgery you chose by getting charts out and explaining every detail to you. He don't beat around the bush on any questions. He's straight forward with his answers.

The office staff there is wonderful.

I can't say there's anything I don't like about Dr. H. He is a great doctor and surgeon. He has a good after care program and really emphasizes to his patients the necessity of doing it for years to come.

I'm very happy I chose Dr. Houston for my doctor/surgeon.

SO FAR SO GOOD WITH DR.HOUSTON!!! HE TOOK THE TIME TO LISTEN AND EXPLAIN THE DS AND WHY HE CHOSE TO DO THEM. HE REALLY SEEM TO BE INTERESTED IN WHY YOU(THE PATIENT)CAME TO THE DECISON TO HAVE THE DS. HE REALLY WANTS TO MAKE SURE THAT HE WILL BE DOING THE DS ON A PERSON WHO UNDERSTAND THE PROS AND CON OF THE SURGERY ITSELF. HE ALSO WANTS TO BE SURE THAT YOU(THE PATIENT) ARE NOT BEING LED INTO THIS SURGERY OR MISINFORMED. I AM REALLY HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE FOR SURGEON!!
