G. Derek Weiss Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

my first impression of dr. weiss was that he is a very compassionate doctor. he knows his area of expertise, and he communicates that easily. after meeting with him and being under his care, my impression only became fonder. when he first walked into the room for my consultation, i knew i had made the right decision. not only is he wonderful, but his staff is equally as wonderful. i had started this journey with another doctor in the lexington area and he told me that i was not a laproscopic candididate. i had gained about 60 pounds when i met with dr. weiss and he didn't hesitate to operate laproscopicly. if i had to pick out one negative thing about dr. weiss i couldn't, he's just too wonderful. the worst thing i encountered was, i had to ask for an additioinal pillow when i was moved to the floor. if you are considering weight loss surgery, you definately need to consider bluegrass bariatrics. both dr. weiss and dr. oldham are wonderufl doctors. they are very compassionate, and care a great deal about their patients. they also have a very structured aftercare program, that is emphasized greatly.
dr. weiss didn't hold anything back, he covered all of the risks in great detail, and made sure i understood it was a very serious decision. you couldn't ask for a more competent dr. or staff. they would all get an A+ in my book. you just can't pick anything bad out about dr. weiss or his practice. he has a vast knowledge of his specialty and his bedside manner is also wonderful. i would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering the surgery. he is a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Weiss put a lot of emphasize on aftercare. He explain why it is very important.
Yes, he does have a structured aftercare program!
He informed me of the risks of the surgery, as he also informed me of the risk of Obesity.
I think I would rate Dr. Weiss a 10, although I'm used to Dr's being a little more personal. He almost seem to be shy.

His Surgical competence was the best. He is professional and quite.

Dr. Weiss is a very caring and knowledgeable man. He really seems to know what he is doing and cares about his patients. He stresses the importance of post op care and he made sure that I completely understood the risks associated with this surgery. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Dr. Weiss a ten. He is a wonderful doctor and really cares about his patients!!

I really liked Dr Weiss. He and his staff were excellent. He was very kind and checked on my several times post op in the hospital. They do have a very structured program that is very helpful. I rate Georgetown Bariatrics very high.

My first impression with Dr. Weiss is that he totally understood my needs, answered all of my questions and helped me decide on which type of surgery to have. I felt totally at ease when I left his office and I had been sooooo nervous for a long time beforehand. He came highly recommended from my primary care doctor and has had alot of surgery experiences at major hospitals. The office staff is outstanding. By your second appointment the receponist knows you by name. Every nurse, dietician, insurance cordinator, etc, is so friendly and works really hard to educate their patiens and are so helpful. They seem excited for you! The reason I chose this program ( 1 hour from my home)is because of the surgeons, but also the aftercare program. They follow you every step of the way. When you place a call to them it is returned immediately. There is so much pre-op teaching about what to expect, good and bad, how to eat, how to take vitamins, exercise and on and on and on. Immediately after your surgery you are visited by both doctors, the nurses from the office, the coordinator, etc. You know you are in great hands and it feels very personal. In no way are you a number. You are followed at 1 week 1 month, 3 months, etc. You are never alone and that is so important. They even have a message board where you can asks questions/advice and the questions are answered immediately. I would rate this program higher than a 10. I have never been treated so well by a doctor, nurse, office staff, follow up, etc. as I have been at Georgetown. I am an RN at a major hospital in a busy recovery room. Believe me, I check things out before I would put myself in their care.

I LOVE DR. WEISS. HE TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF ME. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND TOOK ALOT OF TIME VISITING WITH ME AND LETTING ME KNOW WHAT I WAS GETTING MYSELF INTO.

ON A SCALE OF %100 I WOULD RATE HIM %150 I LOVED HIM AND STILL DO.

SOME OF HIS STAFF HAVE HAD THE SURGERY AND THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE SURGERY.

DR. WEISS DOES HAVE A STRUCTURED AFTERCARE PROGRAM AND THE STAFF IS AVAILABLE 24/7

THE HOSPITAL STAFF FORGOT ME A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GET MORE MEDICINCE

Dr. Weiss and all of the staff are absolutely wonderful!!! I could not have asked for a more caring and knowledgable group of people. Dr. Weiss is willing to answer any and all questions that you have and will take the time to make sure that they are answered to your satisfaction. Aftercare is a very important part of the program at Georgetown. They understand that everyone cannot always come to a support group meeting and that is why there is an online support group. I just can't say enough good things about Dr. Weiss and all of the staff at Georgetown.

What can I say,My Docs Rock!!!My cosultation was with Dr. Weiss. If I had any doubt about surgery before (which I didn't) I sure didn't after He was finished. I have absolutely NO DOUBT in My mind I have two of the top skilled and best surgeons in this Country if not the World. On top of that they are "fine". And best of both Worlds. Post-op-- Dr. Weiss is the absolute best surgeon. I love the hair.!! I always say something about his hair and he says he needs a haircut. I really do like it. It's hip and trendy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Dr. Weiss in December. Old Man!!lol Georgetown may be small in size but they make up for it in the staff, profesionalism, promptness, pride, politeness, caring and just down right damn good!!!!! From pre-op to post-op, you can't go wrong. If you have a great surgeon, without a great bariatric center to follow, you can bet they will not be as efficient and successful. Praises and gratitude go to my success as it unravels to the entire group of dedicated people in "THE ARENA" in Georgetown!
