If you are located in or around the Georgetown, Ky area, I highly recommend Dr's Weiss and Oldham. Dr. Weiss was my primary, and was the consumate professional. He took his time (one to one) re-explaining the procedure and the risks involved. His staff is both courteous and professional. When you walk into the office it's like visiting old friends. The office itself is equiped with large size chairs! The process emphasizes the procedures as a tool ONLY, not a cure for obesity. You are encouraged to join a support group and to WALK, WALK, WALK! They make sure you understand your part in the journey, before the first incision is made. I have been an RN for over 15 years, and I always said I would NEVER have gastric bypass surgery.....then I found Dr Weiss. After reviewing their track record (Laproscopic VS Open) I was convinced! I had my RNY on Sept 19, 2005, no complications, and back to work the following Monday! At my 2- week check-up I had lost an amazing 19.5 lbs!!!! I did follow my bariatric "bible" to the "T". Dr. Weiss even called me at home yesterday to check up on me even though my one month appointment is Friday! How about that service?? Furthermore, Georgetown community hospital is FABULOUS!! The Nurses are kind and professional and several had been GBP surgery patients themselves. This surgery is MAJOR and I highly recommend this group. And REALLY I have nothing NEGATIVE to say!

My first impression of Dr.Weiss was how nice he was and how he was the first doc. in along time not to put me down. The office staff at Georgetown is just wonderful they are very helpful to me and just a phone call away day or night. I am very pleased by whom I chosen for my operation and would highly recommened him and his staff. Not only do they do the surgery they have a support group also that you may attend to help you along your journey. I had the laborscopical lap-band.

My first impression of Dr. Weiss, is that he was very friendly and very direct. He went over all the pros and cons of the surgery in a way that you could understand. He is very passionate about what he does. The office staff at The Bariatric Center is number 1. Very friendly, and always on top of things. One of the main reasons why I chose Dr. Weiss is their after care program. Dr. Weiss stresses their after care program. If your not up to the challenge post-op, then your not ready for surgery. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate Dr. Weiss as a surgeon, a 11.
And a 11 for his bedside manner.

From the moment of my initial visit to the Bariatric Center, I was impressed with Dr Weiss' staff and that of the Bariatric Center. I was seen quickly, received the best support service I have ever encountered and Dr. Weiss was informative, kind, caring and attentive to my medical needs. There was nothing about him which did not inspire confidence except his seeming youth. He is obviously older than he looks! The Center offers excellent educational and support services to their patients and a thorough, structured aftercare program. Dr. Weiss discussed my own research of the risks of the surgery (I had researched it for over a year before applying to have the surgery with Dr. Gandsas), made sure I understood what risks were involved, was quick to answer any questions I had. Overall, my experience with this surgeon and his team was excellent. Almost two years later, I still feel this is a great team and feel sure I receive the best of care when I go for periodic check ups.

So far my impression of Dr.Weiss is that although he looks like a movie star, he is very down to earth, involved, sensitive, extremely informative, and above all professional but personable at the same time. The office staff is amazing!! EVERYONE in the bariatrics office at Georgetown Community Hospital are always rooting for you, and understand what you're going through because quite a percentage of them have had the surgery. The whole team including surgeons also make sure you understand the whole process and surgery details and eating and vitamins, etc. The educational process is grueling, but very helpful. I feel right at home in Dr.Weiss/Dr.Oldham's office. I highly recommend this sensational team and hospital. They are also very thorough with their aftercare. They call once in a while just to see how you're doing, and emphasize that nothing is considered petty, and to ask anyway. They love to help, always call back, and always give you options that work for you. Overall, my experience with Oldham/Weiss and the Georgetown Bariatric office, I'd rate as a 9!!

What can I say. He is the best. I really liked our first meeting. He made me feel like I was "at home" and had mad a wonderful decision to start my new life. He said I had really done my homework and that surgery was right for me. I love the facilities and everyone there is really helpful and caring. They all talk about the need for aftercare. We have several support groups and health care professionals that are there for you anytime you need anything. I would reccomend this program to anyone that is thinking about surgery.

Dr. Weiss is a very competent, caring, knowledgeable surgeon. His expertise in performing the RNY laproscopicly is amazing. I would recommend Dr. Weiss and his associate Dr. Oldham to anyone looking into WLS. The Georgetown Bariatrics program and the Bluegrass Baritrics program are simply the best. Both office's are friendly, accomodating, competent, and efficient. Aftercare in this program is wholeheartedly supported by both the surgeons and the staff and the support group is welcoming and encouraging. I would rate Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldham and the entire program a 10/10.

I only met with the Doctor once for 20 minutes. Then I saw him before and after surgery for about 5 minutes. Am 5 months post op, have not even caught a glimpse of him in the office when visiting. Nurse said this is how they run things.

I was immediately impressed. I had already met Dr. Oldham (same facility) and liked what he had to say.

I only like them better.

WONDERFUL!

Dr. Weiss is very easy to talk to and he answers you in terms you can understand.
Aftercare is a must. They are adamant about that. I feel very safe with the entire staff.

YES!

He sat down with me one on one and told me exactly what to expect and what the risks are. Dr. Weiss is a 10+++

It is all wonderful. The bedside care was amazing. My surgery was completely successful and the aftercare is second to none.

When I first met Dr. Weiss, I thought he was very kind and was good to awnser any questions I had. After my surgery, I had a few complications and he was quick to order the need med, tests, ect. to get me back on my feet. One thing I do wish was different is that I don't see him anymore but his assistant or a nurse practitioner. His clinic has been very good about getting back with me about lab results and helping me with any problems I have had. I feel very happy to have found Bluegrass Bariatrics and love how they keep thier members close via email and support groups. I would recommend this group to anyone who needs wls.
