My first impression of Dr.Facundus was "WOW HE'S TOO YOUNG TO BE DOING THIS". After I spoke with him he insured me that he was fully trained and he was fully comfortable that everything would work out. The office staff was wonderful. They are all very friendly. My surgery was supposed to be on January 31, 2003 but had to be rescheduled for insurance purposes. The nurses took care of that matter quickly. I like everything about Dr. F because he explained fully what he would be doing. When you go to see Dr. F...please make sure that you take notes. Write things down that you know that you may forget to ask...this way you will have it with you when you go into to speak with him. Dr. F explained the risks. As with every surgery...there are risks. I just have to pray for the best. He is a wonderful doctor and on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best...I would rank him a 12.
My first impressioin is what a dynamic personality. He treated me with dignity and respect and is obviously very imformed and up-to-date with regards to advanced laparoscopic technique. He focused on the specific medical issues I have and took the time to answer all my questions (about 22 which were written over a period of about the past 2 years). He was very patient and discussed my concerns in detail one at a time. His office staff is very friendly and competent and treated me with complete respect. My medical history was taken by Melinda (nurse) she is really sweet and never stops smiling, and then I was seen by the bariatric coordinator (Kristi) she is fabulous. Krist and I discussed the book Dr. Facundus has for his patient's and the need for additional evaluation for everything from nutrition to my other medical problems. I was then escorted to an exam room and Dr. Facundus came in about 5 minutes later and we had a lengthy conversation and since Malinda and Kristi had recorded my history and all other vital information and given it to Dr. Facundus he came into the room totally prepared with a Health Summary and he discussed the issues I reported along with all my questions. He even brought up things that I forgot to write down. He strongly encourages aftercare and he demands certain criteria before going on the table. Aftercare is a huge part of "using the tool" and he wants my other physicians involved and informed. He discussed the importance of aftercare for me as a patient and for reseach for patients to come. He has structured aftercare and once they get into their new offices everything will be right there. I was given the name of a support group near me and encouraged to begin attending now to have the support I need from people who are on the other side. Any medical problems or questions though should be addressed with him or my PCP. If you don't want the facts straight up don't ask!! He will tell you anyway about the risks no "candy coating here". I still want to have it done. He has never had a leak in 5 years and I have several friends who have had this surgery and the two that had Dr. Facundus have done extremely well. I would rate him a 20 on a scale from 0-10!!! When I look into those big brown eyes I know he is sincere and knowledgeable. I must say that his bedside manner is excellent but what counts is who is behind the "knife" and I believe he is above and beyond. He trained in a private hospital renowned for their cutting edge technology and research. He also is going to Washington, D.C. in March to receive a National Leadership Recognition Award (he did not tell me about this, I overheard one of the girls in the office discussing it with someone on the phone). Apparently only a very few 25 or less of these awards are given out each year by the AMA. Wow!!!! That means that in all the doctors in the United States mine is in a category of very few. My papers will be filed this week. Hope I don't have to wait long.
I thought that Dr. Facundus was a nice person very straight to the point. Dont ask him anything that you dont want a straight answer to. The office staff was great. Christy was wonderful and she looks beautiful. I would recommend this staff to anyone. Well let you know more after the next appointment.
Dr. Facundus was so nice had my second appointgment today. I found out he is a Christian. That is so wonderful to know that GOD is on both our sides. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr Facundus seemed to be a very caring person. He questioned me as to why I wanted to have the surgery now, & really seemed to listen to & understand my reasons. His office staff was wonderful. I've had to call them several times to clarify things from the consultation, and they have always been just as friendly & helpful as can be. He did make it very clear that he wouldn't proceed with the surgery with out getting clearance from my primary care physician. He also made sure to put me @ ease about his ability to do surgery on someone my size (400lbs w/a BMI of 67). I feel like I've made a good choice in going w/Dr Facundus & not with the Dr in Birmingham (nothing against him).
I was vry impressed with the whole office staff of Dr. E. Facundus. They were all very friendly as well as very imformative. They answered all of my questions and they were very good at the jobs they do. I would gladly recommend anyone to his office and staff.
I have several other medical problems and they were all concerned with them and addressed all of my problems. He addressed each of my problems and emphasized each of them individually. He and his staff went over the pros and cons of the surgery and any risks that might be involved. I really appreciated the concerns that they showed for me. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rat them a 9. Remember there is always room for improvement, but not much in their case. I was very impressed with the booklet tht I received and the great information provided in the booklet.
Dr. Facundus is an angel with a wonderful smile. He has been absolutely wonderful from the first time that I walked into his office. He is so caring and concerned about his patients. He makes sure that all precautions are taken prior to surgery with extensive screening/testing/etc to make sure that you are healthy enough to undergo the surgery. He wants your surgery to be a success just as much as you do. His staff is excellent. They have been so helpful and always friendly. I rate Dr. Facundus and his staff as the best in the world.
