My first appointment with Dr. Facundus was on May 16, 2003. He was absolutely wonderful. He is very kind, caring and knowledgeable. He made me feel totally comfortable with the decision I had made. In my opinion, I knew the minute I left that I had made the right decision in choosing Dr. Facundus as my surgeon. On a scale of 1-10 I would have to rate Dr. F a 10.

I thought he was very knowlegable. He answered most of my questions before I could ask them. This was done when he was explaining the procedure, etc. Shows he has done a lot of these.

He staff is very caring and supportive. I believe that everyone on his staff except his nurse has had the surgery.

In a month and one half I have completed the pre-op journey. Dr. Facundus staff was very helpful in working with me and my PCP. They are all great.

For future patients Dr. Facundus will require they take several, very inexpensive informative classes put on by the Bariatric Wellness Institute in Huntsville. All the instructors have had bariatric surgery and are very familar with the process. I am taking them just so I can be better educated.

I first met with the doctor Friday, June 5. My first impression of him is that he is very thorough. He makes sure he has
all the information he can obtain about your physical condition so there won't be any surprises in the OR. This is the most important trait I'm looking for in a doctor. However, Dr. Facundus is personable, pleasant, very direct, and confident.

I was really impressed with Dr. Facundus's office staff. They were all very helpful and very informative. Dr. Facundus was very nice when I met him. He answered all my questions and discussed the procedure he would be doing.

my first appointment is this week, jan 21
Met the doc and his staff, was impressed by their caring attitude, and direct answers to any of my questions.
surgery was yesterday, went in knowing exactly what to expect, dr facundus had explained totally what to expect. was up and friendly before the op, and was encouraging today. told me to go home, move, feel better and follow the rules.
he is direct, and careful i would highly reccommend him to anyone in my area investigating surgery. he stressed prior to my surgery, if i was not willing to abide by the rules, not to have this done.
this doctor is an excellent surgeon, the incisions were small, healed well, and no unforseen complications. His office staff, however are not as efficient in taking care of the smaller things, and he is trying to correct them as he goes.

I had my first meeting with Dr. Facundus today. I have really been impressed and pleased with everyone in the office. Everyone has been pleasant, friendly, and helpful - you could not ask for a better staff. He and his office has really put together a great before and aftercare program. Dr. Facundus shows confidence and knowledge which really helped to ease my fears about the surgery. He does go over the risk of surgery and stresses that this surgery is only a tool to help you and that it is up to you to make it successful. He also stresses the importance of aftercare. I have to wait though to see if I am a good candidate for surgery or not because of some gastrointestinal problems that I have had previously. I have to wait three weeks before having the other test (which Dr. F will perform) but hopefully time will pass quickly. I am hoping and praying that everything comes out okay for me to proceed with the surgery. I would rate Dr. F and his staff a 10+++ and would certainly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Facundus was that he is a very knowledgeable surgeon and portrays an aire of confidence when he enters the room. Since I have only met Dr. Facundus once, my impression has not had an opportunity to change. His office staff is very professional, kind, and courteous. Kristy is an ANGEL. I had completed a great deal of personal research about the WLS and Dr. Facundus came highly recommended by my primary care physician. Dr. Facundus patients are successful because he requires it. He requires his patients to see a Nutritionist before surgery or other progression is made. Bedside manners and personable treatment is important, but the greatest is surgical competence. Your surgeon can possess all the personal attributes in the world, but if his surgical competence is lacking, that would be a travasty.

I was impressed with my first meeting with Dr. Facundus. He and his staff seem more than willing to help with anything you want to know about the surgery. His office staff has all been overly friendly. The only critisim that I have is that Dr. Facundus was 1 1/2 hours late for my appt. I wish they would have let me know he was running at least an hour late. I had company that left an hour earlier than they were planning. I could have spent that extra hour with them. The meeting with Hunter the nutritionist has encouraged me to start my dieting now. Dr. Facundus told me about all the things that could go wrong, but also gave a realistic view about the slim chance that any of those would happen. Overall I give everyone in the office an excellent rating.

My first impression, and it has remained, is that Dr. Facundus is very professional and succinct. I have a sense that he is very competent. His office staff are REALLY nice, and seem supportive. Dr. Facundus has put in place a comprehensive program to facilitate bariatric surgery from beginning (initial consultation, written information, opportunity for in-depth questions/concerns) to making sure everything possible is done to provide the insurance company with what they need for appropriate evaluation, and (I assume from their information since I have not yet had surgery) adequate follow-up. Because of my age (58) he required a complete pulmonary function evaluation, heart stress test/heart scans, and a baseline colonoscopy. He was very careful to present the risks of surgery and balanced them well with the potential for positive outcome. I would rate his surgical competence (he did the colonoscopy) very high. His surgical competence is obvious; his bedside manner is professional and inspired a sense of confidence in me.

I met with Dr. Facundus and his Bariatric Co-ordinator (Kristi) on 3/07/03. When I first got there I met with Kristi for about an hour and we talked about my complete medical history in detail. She's had the surgery herself and I was blown away by her 'before' picture... she looks fantastic! The meeting went really well and we talked about all aspects of the surgery.

After meeting with her they took my picture for future reference, and then I waited a few more minutes to see Dr. Facundus. He was very pleasant and direct - I liked his style of communication. I didn't feel rushed at all... he sat in a chair to talk to me and acted like he had all afternoon if that's what it took. He has a very good reputation and is well-respected by his peers, I have done my research! The other thing I liked about him is that he answered my questions about other types of WLS. (Not that he performs them, but, he was willing to discuss them in reference to his personal opinion and the pros and cons of each.

It felt very at ease with everyone there and I have no qualms about going forward with the surgery.
