Edward Facundus (COE) Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Foreman is Dr. Facundus' associate and he was my surgeon. He is not registered on this website yet although I told him he needed to! Dr. Foreman is special. He is very patient with all my many questions and informative. He was very professional, even when I was pushy about a surgery date as soon as possible. He is very confident and I really liked that! He really wanted to see me before Memorial Day weekend because he was going to be out of town for a week, but I had returned to work and had to reschedule. (I hope he isn't angry) but I wasn't having any problems. I see the nutritionist right after I see Dr. Foreman and then the bariatric counselor and he was really emphatic that I do that. Dr. Foreman was totally honest about deaths and risks related to the surgery and he will not operate until you are totally aware of all risks (which I already knew from this outstanding web site). I give Dr. Foreman a 10 - thumbs up! Surgical competence is the most important thing to me, but I'll take Dr. Foreman's kindness and sweet face to go with his confidence!

My first impression with Dr. Facundus:
I was EXTREMELY nervous when I entered the office, and his staff made me feel completely relaxed and at home. When Dr. Facundus walked in and introduced himself, I felt like I was talking to an old friend. He was very upfront, very cordial, and made me feel totally at ease!
When I had my surgery he "wowed" my parents and friends with his bedside manner. All of my friends and family who were at the hospital were very impressed with his character. When I went in for my 2 week post op visit, he explained to me that, even though I wont see him for a year, he will be monitoring my progress through the bariatric center and told me how important following my after-care appointments were.
If me or my family ever have any other kind of surgery, we will check with Dr. Facundus first to see if he is available. I would recommend him to ANYONE who is considering this surgery.

I have had a weight problem since I was a child. I tried every diet you can think of, what made me decide on surgery was the fact that I have a 2 yr old son and I wanted to be around to see him grow up, I was tired of huffing and puffing after I played with him. My pre-surgery weight was 264, my goal is to get to 145 pounds. As of today, May 13,2004 I am 211.Only 66 pounds to goal!!! Going into surgery I was very nervous but Dr. Facundas was wonderful!!! His skill and expertise wqas part of the reason my surgery was a success. His office staff was great. If anyone lives in the huntsville area I highly suggest Dr. Facundas. Immediately after surgery he spoke with my parents and reassured them I was fine and the surgery was a success. Before he would even consider doing the surgery, he requires his patients to meet with a nutritionist and bariatric coordinator to discuss the surgery in detail. Also he requires his patients to read a handbook he put together about the surgery. It had the suggested diet for each post-op phase, also what to expect after surgery. It was extremely helpful.His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

May 25,2004 I'm 208 today and wearing a size 13 jeans woo-hoo!!! I wore a 20 before surgery.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. FACUNDUS AND HIS STAFF WERE GREAT. I FELT I WAS TREATED WITH SUCH CONCERN AND RESPECT. NEVER ONCE DID I FEEL I WAS BEING RUSHED NOR WAS I GIVEN THE IMPRESSION THAT THE QUESTIONS I HAD WAS CRAZY QUESTIONS. I ALSO LIKED THE FACT OF HIM EXPLAINING NOT ONLY TO ME BUT TO MY SISTER AS WELL, THE PROCEDURES OF THE SURGERY. THE OFFICE STAFF AND NURSES WERE GREAT. IT IS SO NICE TO WALK INTO A ROOM OF SMILING FACES.

I was very fortunate to have found Dr. Facundus. He is a very caring professinal and his staff is wonderful. When you walk into his office, you are not just a fat person; you are a person with a health problem and they are there to help you.

For every question, I immediately got an answer. If I called from home, someone had time to answer my questions.

The surgery procedure was explained to me in detail. I was made aware of the risk involved and aftercare was greatly emphasized.

Knowing my surgery would be lap instead of open was a deciding factor in going to Dr. Facundus.

Having the Bariatric Wellness Institute is a plus. I look forward to returning to BWI and meeting with the coordinators. They are all very professional, supportative, and encouraging.

I highly recommend Dr. Facundus.

My only regret is I did not have RNY sooner.

I Really Like Dr Facundus! All his staff have been wonderful! I love Hunter Kristi and Tanya at the Bariatric Wellness Center. At the Doctors office I LOVE BRANDI, STACY, MELINDA And Crystal and Lynn,, and I forgot the other names but everybody has been great!!!!! I am so thankful to all of you for this chance to feel healthy again. Obviously I can't do it without you and I am SO GRATEFUL for this chance... I really appreciate all of you from the bottom of my heart!!!! Dr F was so confident that he can help me. It is amazing after basically resigning myself to a life of misery to now have hope is wonderful!!! I can't wait to feel better.... LOOK OUT WORLD HERE I COME>>>>>

I was very pleased with Dr. Facundas and his staff(this was my first visit). He is very straight forward and expressive with what the procedure consists of, the risks involved, and what is expected of his patient. Dr. Facundas was open to questions and free with answers. I can't recall the name of his nurse that was with him at the time of my visit, but, she was wonderful as well. It was a joy to be welcomed into an office and to be seen as a whole person and not just another case.
I can't speak for anybody else, but so far, I feel confident in my decision to have Dr. Facundas as my surgeon. When I meet with him and meet more of his staff at a later date, I hope that I will still share the same views as I do now.

I am pleased to say that I am still glad that I choose Dr. Facundas and his team as my surgeons.

Dr Facundus was great. He was very nice and encouraged questions. He was very patient and went over everything in detail. I'll update this after my surgery.

Good impression, very attentive, office staff helpful and caring. There was nothing I did not like about him, but sometimes the office wait was pretty long (but worth the wait!!) Future patients should know this is a caring Dr. that I have heard no negative comments about. I have met quite a few people in support groups and friends who have used him and all say the same thing. He is just a terrific Dr., great care, great aftercare, and explains things every step of the way. I would rate his competence (surgical and bedside) the same: excellent.
By the time I had my surgery, I knew my life was in Dr. Facundus hands and I was totally at ease. I have lost exactly like he said I would...100 lbs. and at my goal weight!! He and his staff were a blessing.

Dr. Facundus was very patient and attentive. He answered all mine and my husband's questions thoroughly. I had done a lot of research prior to my first appointment, but he went through the whole process with us to make sure we understood everything. I feel that he is a very competent surgeon and I am very satisfied with my decision. I also met Dr. Foreman and was equally impressed with him. He took time with us and was never once ready to oepn the door to leave until he was sure we were finished. He and Dr. Facundus are a great team. They practice alike and it's nice to have consistency. His aftercare program consists of an appt with him, and then follow-ups with the nutritionist and consultants at BWI. All in all, his staff and the staff at BWI have been extremely nice and helpful.

Post-op...Dr. Facundus met with me and my husband the morning after surgery and he helped ease my depression. Actually, he pretty much eliminated it. I am totally satisfied and convinced that I made the right choice in surgeons.
