Very thorough seminar (4 1/2 hours long). I was very impressed with his honesty with regards to complications with past patients. I really like him and am looking forward to have him do my surgery. rnMy surgery was on 11/5/07. Dr. Stewart had to do a lot of cleanup from my gallbladder surgery before he could do the DS. I am very pleased with the way everything was handled. If it were to be done again, I would choose him in a heartbeat.
When I first talked with Dr. Stewart, I thought Wow! this doctor listens and he knows his stuff! His staff is very friendly and very helpful. If I have any questions, they always are there to answer them. Dr. Stewart is a very caring doctor and wants to see you reach your weight loss goal. He has an awesome support group that meets on the last tuesday of each month. Prior to my surgery, I went to an open forum at the hospital where Dr. Stewart spoke to a group of potential patients desiring to have surgery to lose weight. Dr. Stewart spoke of the risk with every type of weight loss procedure. He showed some of the instruments/apparatus used in the surgery procedure. I would recommend Dr. Stewart to any one considering surgery for weight loss. Dr. Stewart is a very competent surgeon with a great bedside manner too!
I chose Dr. Stewart because of the comprehensive program he had put together for WLS. In order to be accepted for surgery, I had to have a psychological evaluation and attend a seminar that discussed the surgery, risks, eating changes, lifestyle changes, etc.. that are necessary to be successful with WLS. There is also a monthly support group meeting. His office staff is great and are always very helpful.
Dr. Stewart is a very quiet and gentle, but is an excellent surgeon. He explains his methods for surgery with facts and really explains everything you can anticipate post op. Chrys and the rest of the staff is great and goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I was very nervous and shy about the whole hospital stay, but everyone made me feel as comfortable as they could.rnThe pre op meeting was very informative and the after care support group helps when you have a lot of post op questions.
My first impression of Dr Stewart was that he was aloof and disintersted. However, Dr Stewart is a true professional. He listens to every concern and does his best to address each issue you have. He is compassionate and offers constructive support but seems reserved and all business like.rnrnHis office staff is likable, friendly and helpful.rnrnHe offers a structured aftercare program and emphasizes the need for exercise and self discipline.rnrnHe did address the risks of surgery because of other health issues I had and he was thorough in determining the risks and ways to minimize them.rnrnI rate him excellent overall. And I believe surgical competence takes precedence over bedside manner, but he has both.
I met Dr. Stewart in October 2006 at an informational meeting regarding gastric bypass surgery. I found him to be very interesting and full of information. This was my 3rd required meeting to attend - the first 2 were at a different hospital and doctor. It's taken me 4 years to decide to do this - I felt I already knew a lot of the information being shared, but it was good to hear it again. Plus, he brought the instruments used for the surgery, that was very helpful. He is easy to talk to and wants to make sure his patients understand ablsoultely everything about the surgery. He answered all our questions, and didn't make you feel as if it were an inconvience to him. I would most certainly recommend him and his staff to others. I've been seeing him since October and now my visits are with Sue, his nurse practioner. She is wonderful! His entire staff is very, very sweet and helpful and makes you feel like you belong there.
