My husband and I recently celebrated 5 years post gastric bypass surgery. To keep things short and sweet, I would say if you are looking for an expert in the field of weight loss surgery, Dr. Stewart is the surgeon of choice. He is a very skilled surgeon with many years experience in his field of expertise (bariatric surgery). We owe him a debt of gratitude for helping us get to where we are today and no longer struggling with morbid obesity health issues, of which there were plenty! The aftercare program through his office was of great help and we owe so much to Dr. Stewart's staff as well for helping us manuever these waters. It feels wonderful to be healthy, energetic and off the bench and living life to its fullest. We are blessed. Thank you Dr. Stewart and Team.

I absolutely love Dr Stewart! He is an eccelent surgeon. He explains everything thourougly and seems to really love his work and truly care for his patients. He has researched different techniques from other surgeons and patient results to aid his effectiveness. In my opinion that speaks volumes! His office staff is very friendly. The only complaint I have is regarding money.....It is a little pricy ($325.00) to pay for the Nutritionist to hand you a 3 ring binder ($1.00) of rules, read over them for about 30 minutes and hand over 2 bottles of vitamins ($60.00), water bottle ($1.00). Complete waiste of money! Though it is not a deal breaker for an awesome surgeon and very good man.

Dr. Stewart's office was quick and efficient in getting me into their surgery rotation. The staff is nice. One member of the staff has trouble returning phone calls, but all in all, they've been great. I love nurse Sue. She's great. Jessica is a great resource (nutrition).

Dr. Stewart himself is a little standoffish, but he's good. He's also very straightforward and will answer any question asked.

Dr. Stewart is a little hard to read and quiet. However, he answers all my questions and tells me like it is. He did a great job and I have had no complications from my surgery. I am VERY thankful to have found such a great surgeon so close to home. THANK YOU!!!

Dr. Stewart is quiet, and doesn't say much, but personable and VERY knowledgeable about all the bariatric surgeries, and seems to tend to favor the lap DS. rnThe office staff is kind and very helpful and supportive. rnWhat I least liked about Dr. Stewart was the fact that he is so quiet and mild mannered, and future patients should be ready to get most of their information from his staff. (He is a surgeon ya know, not a family practitioner.) rnAftercare so far has been fine, and there is a good support group as well.rnThe risks of surgery were addressed beforehand and several times up to surgery date.rnI would rate my experience with Dr. Stewart and his staff as 9 out of ten. (just about exemplary) His bedside manner is not all \"Hey, let's be friends and stuff.\" but at the same time he is not rude by any stretch, and his surgical competency is exemplary.

Dr. Stewart did a great job. In the two+ years since my surgery, I've lost about 110 pounds. I've had no trouble keeping it off. The only problems I've had is that the pre-op dietitian tells you some things that aren't right for post surgery. It's also VERY hard to talk to anyone in the office on the phone. Their automated system is horrible. But... I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I had mine at North Texas Hospital. The staff there was great.

Dr Stewart did an excellent job -however; I was told by his office staff that it was ABSOLUTELY OK to take my birth control pills up to and the day after surgery. The next January I almost died of blood clots to my lungs n legs. I've lost over 170 and still losing. I started at 401 now I'm 223. I haven't been able to enjoy my weight loss because of my illnesses that I've had.

I was very satisfied with Dr. Stewart and his staff. I felt confident in his abilities and knowledge of the surgery options. I felt that he was very honest and up front with me about my choice of surgery and why it may or may not be the best for me. He explained fully the amount of weight loss generally seen with the VSG and that it may not be as high as some others. He explained the advantages and disadvantages of the VSG. I really felt that he left the decision to me, but wanted me to be fully educated on the medical reasons for or against any specific surgery. Being self-pay, it was a very quick process from start to finish. I met with Dr. Stewart for my initial consultation less than a month before my surgery. He essentially told me as soon as I could get my labs done we could schedule surgery. It was a very simple process. I also felt that I am able to get the proper follow up care by his staff. They gave me their email address and phone numbers and told me to call or write anytime with questions. Overall I'm very satisfied with the entire process.

Update for almost a year out - Everything has been going great. I'm down about 155 pounds, at goal and trying(somewhat successfully) to not lose anymore. I havn't been able to make an appt past 3 months since I am 7 hours away and too busy at work for the past 8 months. Will be going back soon. Sue has been great with contacting me over the phone with lab results and such. I'm suprised actually with that considering I was told the cost only covers the first 3 months after surgery so I had no expectation of any support if I didn't return for follow ups. I do plan to make it to a one year follow up soon though, as soon as time permits. I have had no complications, very happy with the entire surgery and my choice of surgeons. Couldn't have asked for or expected better quality of care by all involved. Would strongly encourage anyone to use Dr. Stewart.
