Very informative and personable. A little cocky in the beginning, but that softened after a bit. We met with him first in a conference room setting, where there were supposed to be other patients and their family members. My husband and I were the only ones who showed up. So we had the Dr. to ourselves for an hour and a half describing the surgery, drawing diagrams, answering questions. He was very clear about all the risks as well as benefits of surgery, and that it isn't magic, I will have to work at it to be successful. Then to his office for an exam, health and obesity history and to choose a date.

Met with Dr. Rosati today. I was very nervous driving there. I got about half way there and my husband called on my cell phone and said that the office called and postponed my appt until 2PM. It was suppose to be at 11:30AM. Oh well. I went shopping at Crossgates Mall. I just thankful that it was the same day. I live 2 hours away and it's not easy to juggle around my husband's busy work schedule. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They appologize at least 3 times including the Dr. In my experience they usually don't seem to care. At first, I thought that he was a little cocky but I think it's just confidence. He knows his stuff. He made sure I was WELL aware of ALL the risks. After my exam he walked me out to his appt desk and asked ME which date I wanted. Now, I've read a lot of profiles and I've never seen anyone that got to chose their date. I thought this was awesome. I chose 11/19 instead of the following week due to Thanksgiving so that I might be in better spirits for the holiday. Trust me, I will have my Turkey dinner before my surgery.
I cannot think of anything I disliked about my appt or the dr. The secretary made all my pre-op appts before I left and gave me all sorts of advise, phone numbers for the various appts., and also to call anytime with any questions that I may have forgotten to ask.

Dr. Rosati is a very nice person makes you feel very comfortable. He addresses the risks of surgery in great detail but doesn't make you feel like you only have a 50/50 chance of waking up like some other surgeons do.

I Liked Dr Rosati From our first appointment. He seemed very gentle and soft spoken. He also seemed determined that I understood CLEARLY, the possible negative outcomes of this surgery. I really apprciated that. I only met his staff twice briefly, but they seemed very professional. I found that pre-surgery It was difficult to reach Dr Rosati, and sometimes the receptionist could be a bit abrupt on the phone. He definately stresses aftercare. besides sending home many pamphlets, he was very clear that if I had questions to not hesitate to call him, and was adament about following up with my nutritionist. overall, I have been very very pleased with Dr Rosati, Surgically, I have had no problems and his bedside manner was great. Although he did often seem very tired, It never made me think that i was getting shortchanged medically or emothionally.

My first impression of Dr. Rosati came during a support group meeting. He stood on the other side of the large room to answer questions to the group. He was not talking to me directly and he emitted an aura of kindness, compassion and caring. When I did meet him for a consultation my impression was correct. I have never met a Dr. that seemed to care as much as Dr. Rosati. He spent two full hours with me discussing the procedure, the risks, the benefits and life after surgery. He did not rush things, he never looked at his watch once and he answered and discussed things until he was sure I understood. I was sure that I would have this operation via Lap but it is more important to me to have Dr. Rosati perform the surgery and he prefers the open. I will update more after surgery but I feel that he will be an excellent Dr. His office staff was also kind and gracious.

Post-Op - I am very please with Dr. Rosati. His bed side manner was great. He has always been very honest and upfront. What I liked most about him was is realness, he's human. There was a glitch in my surgery. The intubation tube got nicked during the stapling and Dr. Rosati took responsibility for it. No hiding behind any excuses.

Its easy to get a bad first impression of him but once he gets passed the part of seeming horribly clinical, he is a really great doctor. He's attentive and friendly, but also serious and straight forward when neccessary. I feel very fortunate to have had him as my surgeon. He doesn't sugar-coat anything...which is a little intimidating at first but I came to appreciate and rely on it.

My first impression was that he was totally different that what I had pictured in my mind. Dr Rosati is quite soft-spoken, but very forthright. He holds nothing back, tells it like it is, the good and the bad. He is very patient and listens to your questions, then answers fully. I asked him several questions and they were answered to my full satisfaction, I didn't feel as though he brushed over them, or told me "what I wanted to hear". I feel very confident that he truely cares about each and every patient he sees as an individual. The office staff (Stephanie and Pat) are really wonderful. I have called a couple times and have always been helped right away. They take on all of the responsibility of applying for insurance approval, submitting FMLA papers (I brought the paperwork to my first office visit to expedite this), making all necessary appointments (leg and gall bladder ultrasounds), I basically had no involvement in anything like that. They are very organized and helpful.

I waited 18 months just to see Dr. Lirio in Schenectady. I guess I foolishly thought that he was the only game in town.
After the initial visit I was advised that it would be at least 6 more months before I could be scheduled.
Out of frustration, I sought care elsewhere.

I saw Dr. Rosati at Albany Medical Center & was mightily impressed!!! He is very articulate, knowledgeable, clear, concise & ultimately professional. I was pleased with the information he provided in a 2 hour discussion. He was frank & did not sugar coat anything. He is careful to phrase his answers so that he is sure that you get all the information that you need, in a language that you can understand.

I have been a nurse for over 20 years, I did my research on Dr. Rosati before I went to the appointment. Five, prominent area physicians could not have been more pleased with my final choice for surgeon. His reputation is beyond reproach!

He does not require that you use MediFast, he doesn't send you home with a tube, he would like you to lose 10% of your body weight pre-op, but states that this is for your benefit, not his, so he would stil operate if you couldn't do it. He Does NOT require a Barium Enema, (lower GI series) Barium Swallow, (upper GI series).
He did have me get Ultrasound of both legs to rule out blood clot, & he does require an Ultrasound of the Gallbladder, if you still have one. That's it.

I am so glad that I decided to follow my heart & stop playing the waiting game for the other Dr. in Schenectady. I only wish that I had found out about Dr. Rosati sooner.
