my first impression of Dr. Carl Rosati was good he was very informative and thorough. But things quickly changed after surgery. when he did his rounds he walks into the room and asks which one of you is my patient very cocky and i was unimpressed by his lack of bedside manner. but i brushed it off as him being busy. 2 weeks later i was scheduled for a follow up and he cancelled at the last minute for an emergency surgery he had to do. i rescheduled for a few days later but my sister is dying of colon cancer and has taken a turn for the worst so i rescheduled. i have been very very sick i can not digest food or water without vomitting. i went to my appt. with Dr. Rasati yesterday and he was a total jerk he never checked the incision. when i told him i was sick still. his exact words were, "this is bordering Rediculous" and he shouted "Get Over It!" i had my 2 year old daughter with me and he did this all in front of her. he treated me like a fat cow who was obsessed with food and eating and making myself vomit. now if i was capable of vomitting everything i eat i would never have needed the surgery to begin with. i needed help and he refused to acknowledge something might be wrong. i chose Dr. Rosati because he had such high revues on this web site. it was a huge mistake. No one should ever have to be treated like that for any reason. i plan on filing a formal complaint about the mistreatment i received from him. Please if you are considering this Doctor think again once he receives money for the surgery he gives up on you and turns into a monster! he has a severe God complex and needs to be brought down to earth. i rate this doctor as a -0 i will never go back to him and now i have to deal with the after affects of this surgery alone. i still can't eat or drink and will probably get very sick but he left me with no hope. i am alone in this now with no medical help whatsoever. please don't let him do this to you too.
8/19/03 Dr. Rosati called me this morning and apologized for his treatment of me and was very sympathetic.he explained he was having a bad day and never should have taken out on me i agreed he shouldn't and we talked awhile i told him i will keep him as my dr but he can never talk to me like that again and he agreed it took a lot for him to call and i appreciate it. as of now i move my recomendation from a -0 to a 7 until i see him again.

First Impression He does a small group 3-4 patients and family members orientation. Draws on board an anatomy lesson. Talks about the risks of the surgery and what you need to do to be successful. Answers questions. Then meets individually with patients, does a medically history, weight loss history, answers personal questions does exam. Soft spoken. Caring personality. Orginally from Canada, did extensive training in Trauma surgery in Baltimore before coming to Albany. Started doing WLS surgery in Canada. Tells you like it is, no sugar coating. Albany Medical Center is a teaching hosiptal and I've never seen a student or resident in his office and it's been a year. When he did rounds, he did them by himself. About 45 minutes, before he showed up you were seen by the army of residents, but when he comes in he sits in the chair or on the bed and talks with you like he has all day. He tells his post op patients who else on the floor he has done surgery on that day and sugest that you say hi and walk together if you want. He does surgery on Tues and Thurs so its real nice to see someone feeling some much better. Its good motivation to walk which is highly recommended after surgery, it helps with gas pain and prevents blood clots. If you are a private person, there is no pressure to be social with the other patients. His office staff is excellent as well as the answering service. With regards to aftercare, he will not do the surgery unless you have an MD who is a clinical nutritionist. What I like least is that he will not met with patient until they have made up their mind that they what the surgery and him as the surgeon.

Dr. Rosati, is very direct and honest while at the same time is caring and supportive. He is prompt and I have always been seen within 10 minutes of my appt time. He will not perform surgery if you smoke. He does his own orientation which is informative and beneficial. he does not offer a structured aftercare program at this time. he is very forthcoming about all possible risks. he is s trauma surgeon by trade. I rate him very highly.

I met Dr. Carl Rosati today. As I have read over and over againhe is straight up. He doesn't sugar coat anything. I found him to be intelligent and articulate. He is easy to talk to and I was not rushed. So far I think he's wonderful.

My first impression of Dr. Rosati was that he was extremely intelligent and articulate. He plainly discusses the pros and cons of this procedure and makes it very clear that it is NOT for everyone. His staff is very responsive and let me know exactly what needed to be done and gave me specific dates to have them done by. Dr. Rosati made me feel very special and was genuinely concerned about me. He sat on the bed when talking with me vs. standing over me and even hugged me when I was having a small personal crisis in the hospital. Future patients should know that Dr. Rosati shoots straight from the hip and is not worried that he will scare you off. It is his way. He is not rude, merely honest. He needs you to be sure about the physical revision you are undertaking and his role in it. If I were back at square one and reconsidering this procedure, Dr. Rosati is the only name on my list of surgeons. Dr. Rosati is the ENTIRE PACKAGE of surgical competence and bedside manner. He is confident, experienced and amazed me with his personal knowledge about my abdominal organs! I am trying to find the negative about Dr. Rosati and haven't thought of it yet. Seriously. My only negative was my post op reaction to my altered physical condition. I thought I was prepared so well but was surprised at my negative emotions. I am doing much better now 3 months later, and that has a lot to do with Dr. Rosati's concern and the responsiveness of his staff including nurse Debbie.

I like Dr. Rosati from the minute he walked in the room! He was very informative, and didn't candy coat anything. He went through the good as well as the bad. He is VERY friendly, personable, kind, and attentive to his patients needs. I would choose him again in a heartbeat!!!

My first impression of him was that he was very informative. He was straight forward with me and I like that. Sometimes people like you to sugar oat things so that you may feel better, but I relly appreciated hi bluntness. My impression of him has not changed, I really like him and recommend him highly for anyone in hopes of getting this surgery. His entire staff and team of doctors were wonderful. The only problem that I encountered was that when I went in 8 days post-op tio have my staples removed Dr.Rosati was in consultation, which is a minimal 2 hour wait. Therefore I had to resort in having smeone else remove my staples. I had questions for him that day, however he did call me later on that evening so that I was able to get those questions answered. Any person going to him, which I recommend should be prepared for hi up front and very informative style. Both pros and cons will be addressed. Aftercare was stressed and I did follow-up with my nutrtionist. Both his bedside manner and surgical competence were both great and I highly recommend anyone seeking getting this surgery should definitley go with Carl Rosati.

Haven't met him yet, but have heard good things from other patients of his, and have read some posts on this site from some of his patients. There are 2 surgeons in our hospital, and he is the one who does the open Roux-en Y, which is the procedure I've decided I want to have.

Dr. Rosati is great. I had my first appointment with him today. Like most have said, he starts with a small group discussion first, then you meet with him individually. During the group session, he goes through the good, the bad and the bad again. He wants you to understand that this is a serious procedure and should not be taken lightly. He went through risks from death to failure. He wants you to understand why it is important to lose the 10% prior to surgery. His biggest concern is heart attacks/strokes and blood clots. Then he briefly goes through the hospital stay and care. He does not pull any punches.
The one on one session allowed him to go through more of your personal history and if you have any questions for him. Then he said when would you want to do this! So we went out to the desk and scheduled a date.
