Very professional, kind, and an excellent DR.
I still have the same impression of him. The staff at the clinic are extremely kind, and very efficient. They do whatever they can to get you accepted for the surgery.

Great meeting. Answered all my questions and helped confirm my decision.

I have found Dr. Boe to be responsive, personable and approachable. I consider him a total professional and a good friend.
He is a real cheerleader for his patients and wants the very best success for them.
I was lucky to have had him do my surgery.

This doctor seemed very experienced and I felt comfortable with him. Just wish I would have been accepted.

I met with Dr. Boe almost 3 years ago and he was a sweetheart then, and he's still wonderful now. I met with him in May and am very happy with him. His office staff have been great to work with. Even though my mom and I already knew everything about the surgery from our last visit, he still showed my grandma what happens. The Barix Center has a great after program. Dr. Boe has done over 1200 surgeries so I feel confident enough to recommend him to anyone. So far I'd rate him a 10, but I always rate high.

I think that Dr Boe is a great surgeon. He made sure I knew what to expect and he was very encouraging. He has a very caring and considerate bed side manner. I would rate him overall a 9. He did inform me of what I needed to do after surgery...so did his staff. I just need to follow the guidelines better, but it's not from lack of information. There is nothing that I dislike about Dr. Boe!

He has addressed my hernia also and would like me to have surgery to fix it. It's my lack of insurance now that keeps me from having it done.

Only one thing that was difficult... I was on the gurnee when he came in to tell me that he might not be able to do my surgery because of my low thyroid levels. I just wish he would have called the day before and prepared me for that possibility because the 20 minutes that lapsed from him telling me that , while he consulted with the other surgeons, seemed like an eternity. But it ended up being an acceptable risk and i was able to have my surgery after all.

My first impression was he is very confident and understanding. I had a lot of questions and Dr. Boe took the time to answer all of them. The office staff has been very helpful. I have talked to several of them and they have been very pleasant.

My first impression was really good. He put me right at ease. He also let my husband know that it isn't just a matter of will power. My impression hasn't changed, he's still the same great guy! The office staff was most helpful & supportive. There isn't anything I didn't like about Dr. Boe. He lets you know that aftercare is important & that you should keep up with the eating plan & go for your checkups. I very much liked the 3 ring binder I was given with all the instructions. That really helps. I knew all the risks of surgery, having had several others before. For an overall rating, he's a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10! I believe surgical competence is of the utmost importance & I had that confident feeling right away with him. His bedside manner is terrific, too. The whole staff at the hospital was just super & they make you feel so great!

I had my surgery in February, 2003. A friend of mine had highly recommended BTC and Dr. Boe. Dr. Boe took plenty of time at my consult in June, 2002, to explain the surgery procedure and what I could expect to go through during post-op. The staff during my four day stay at the BTC was very friendly and took good care of me. I only remember seeing Dr. Boe once after my surgery, but so much was going on after my surgery, there are things I may not remember. I wasn't pleased with the lack of attention I received at my two week follow up with another surgeon (Dr. Boe wasn't available that day) and the brief visit I received from a BTC nutritionist, so I skipped my 6 week, 3 month and 6 month check ups and had all my blood work done by my local doctor and sent to Dr. Boe. It is a 12 hour round trip drive for me to Dr. Boe's office and not an easy trip to make in good weather let alone the winter months. I did go down for my one year check up (albeit 3 months late) becasue of some problems I was having and Dr. Boe spent plenty of time with me answering all my questions and helping me get back on track with the program (I had been stuck on a five month plateau). I also spent plenty of time with a nutritionist/dietician getting a lot of questions answered. I am now working closely with her to make sure I don't stray too far off course again. I was lucky to get my surgery done before BC/BS stopped working with the BTC. I could never afford the surgery on my own. I know BTC, now Barix, is in the process of trying to hammer out a new deal to get BC/BS back on board. One thing I would highly recommend for BARIX CLINIC is to build a PSYCHOLOGICAL POST OP PATIENT PROGRAM to equal the physical healing/diet post op program they have in place. When you visit the Barix Clinic, be sure to have a long list of questions to ask so you feel comfortable with your decision once you decide to have the surgery.

What can I say about Dr Boe..Well he's great and he gave me my life back. It's been one year since my surgery and everything is wonderful. He's easy to talk to, with none of the "i'm the doctor" attitude. I think he genuinely enjoys what he does, and sincerely conveys this attitude every time I have seen him. I got a complete picture of the surgery pre op, good information post op, and will continue to follow up with him.
