Dr. Boe Did my surgery in 2001 I weighed 420lbs at that time. I did not have any complications relating to my gastric bypass and am very thankful he was my physician. I just wanted to say hello if he read this. He may remember me from the tatoo's of butterlies of tiger faces on my back.

I felt extremely comfortable with Dr. Boe from the first day I met him. He is very caring and does an excellent job. I was thrilled with him and all the staff at Barix Clinic. Everyone was very knowledgable and caring. He gave me a whole new beginning.

My wife and I first encountered Dr. Boe back in October 2009 at the Barix Clinic in Langhorne, PA. First, he had a small class the explain the differences between the types of surgeries, and also what to expect. He made sure to note that this was not a magical weight loss treatment, but instead, a tool for us to succeed in our lives. Afterward, he pulled us into individual meetings so we could ask any nitty-gritty questions that we had. With the support of Dr. Boe and the Barix Clinic, we began our 'Insurance' journey -- mine took nearly a year to complete; however, Dr. Boe and his staff fought to the death to get me approved - even after I was denied - twice!! Dr. Boe's assistant, Toni, even shed a tear or two once I was finally approved. My wife went first in April 2010. Her surgery went well, and with minor complications. Only a few weeks after (a new record per Dr. Boe), her gall bladder became diseased, and had to go in for emergency surgery. Unfortunately, we live nearly 6 hours from the Barix Clinic, so we were forced to use a local hospital -- Dr. Boe was right on top of the entire situation, and even called/gave us his personal cell phone number should any situation arise. My wife healed from her adventures, and on July 22nd, 2010, I was off on mine. The staff at the Barix Clinic is very jovial, and happy-go-lucky. No one seemed down, or depressed -- but instead, happy to be there and help get you on track. On my surgery day, Dr. Boe came in and spoke with me pre-op to ensure I knew how everything was going to take place. Soon after, I woke up in my room, groggy and in pain, but in high spirits. Dr. Boe ensured I had everything needed to be relaxed and comfortable while at the Barix Clinic -- the nursing staff upstairs was awesome. You never felt like 'just another patient' -- instead, you felt the nurses were there to only serve you. I would HIGHLY rate Dr. Boe and the Barix Clinic to anyone and everyone who is seeking surgical weight loss options. Knowing friends/family who have been through a standard hospital for theirs truly missed out on this unique experience!!

My first impression was that Dr. Boe was a friendly, down-to-earth guy who really knew what he was doing. He made me feel informed and confident that he would do a great job without talking "down" to me.

I'm not sure where to make a distinction between Dr. Boe's staff and Barix staff but I don't think it matters. There was NO one, throughout the entire process, that wasn't friendly and affirming. I got calls on a regular basis while getting insurance approvals and going through the required consults.

I am extremely happy in my decicion to work with Dr. Boe and Barix Clinics for my surgery. I can't imagine a better team.

Dr. Boe did my surgery in 2001, at the Barix clinic in Belvidere. He changed my life. I lost about 120lbs., I would never have been able to do that without him and his staff teaching me the correct way to eat and take care of myself. If your considering barix surgery, the biggest thing to remember is YOU have to change TOO, the surgery will NOT do everything for you, It is a life style change, as Dr. Boe once told me, "I (Dr. Boe)gave me the tools to fix the problem (weight)now its up to me to use the tools correctly. One thing you should know about Dr. Boe, he will always be there to help you and he has very good bed side manner. I stated earlier I had my surgery over 9 years ago with him, he has lived in Penn. for around the past 5yrs or so, I still live in Ill. I have had questions for him in the recent years about some things and he is still right there to answer questions I have or even talk to a dr. if I need him too. There is no question to small for him. He didnt just move away and say hey Im leaving now you have to call someone else. He has continued to keep his support and commitment to me, and that means more to me then anything.
Since I have had my surgery I have been and remained to stay active, I have raced BMX bikes with my son, I line dance, and yes I do NOW at the age of 42 play roller derby!! I love it!! My daughter plays with roller derby with me and I have become so close with my kids because of the energy I have gained. My self confidence has gone up I am going back to school to become a counselor for kids, but the one most important thing I can now say about myself is I LIKE WHO I AM AND I AM PROUD OF WHO I AM!! Thank you so much Dr. Boe.

Great smile, very friendly made me feel comfy right from the start. Very personable and explained things in a way that was easy to understand. Answered all my questions and put my husbands mind at ease. The staff was equally as friendly made our visit complete. The Barix Clinic offers alot of support and aftercare which I am very glad about. He out lined all the risk and was very upfront. Looking forward to the rest of this journey.

I met Dr Boe in April, and was impressed by both his knowledge and experience, as well as the demeanor with which he spoke with me. He was the only surgeon that asked me what I wanted from the surgery, and we discussed at length which process would maximize its results. rnrnI did not see Dr Boe until the afternoon of surgery, however, seeing him put me at easr immediately and I knew at that point that I made the right decision for me.rnrnIrene at the front desk is lovely. I had one incident where a nurse was inconsiderate of my feelings just before surgery (via telephone) but all in all the staff and nurses have been nothing but concerned and dedicated to my care. Kudos to Debbie (night nurse) Michelle (nurse's assistant) and Janet (day nurse), Helene (nutritionist) Janis (post op nurse), Kim (pre op nurse) and Rebbe (pheb)rnrnThis is a well educated, compassionate human being who is committed to putting you on the right track. I interviewed 3 surgeons, and I chose Dr Boe because of his bedside manner. I chose Barix because this is all they do. Oh, yes! Dr Boe requires a 10 day liquid diet of all of his RnY patients - not difficult and well worth it.rnrnAftercare is emphasized from before surgery. Aftercare and following the health lifestyle are engrained from the consult on. Stop smoking, no caffeine, lose weight...All of the staff is committed to you knowing how to take care of your little tummy.rnrnThere is a structured aftercare program consisting of fluids, full liquids, purees, soft food and then stepping into regulat food. There is a fantastic support group that will think nothing of brow beating you if you choose to share any bad choices you make, so there is a definite accountability feature built in. rnrnThat anytime you have surgery, there are risks. I felt different because I chose to have surgery versus being told I had to. Risks of surgery were talked about one on one and at the group consult.rnrnI would give Dr Boe a solid 10rnrnBoth his surgical competence and bedside manner (which my super sensitive psyche found maybe more important)are fantastic!rnrn

Dr. Boe is a phenomenal surgeon. I knew from the first consultation that he was a terrific doctor who had much compassion for his patients. Everyone at the Langhorne Barix clinic are wonderful. The office staff, aides, nurses, etc. are very caring and helpful. I am just hitting 7 months and not only did I make the best decision of my life having the surgery but the cherry on top was having Dr. Boe as my surgeon.

I first met Dr. Boe at my consult. He was great! He explained everything in detail and answered all questions. I knew that he was the one I wanted to do my surgery, he was very knowledgeable and made feel very comfortable. He was soft spoken and very patient with me. My impression only got beter the more I got to know him. The office staff is great! Very nice, informative and you always feel like you are the most important person they are seeing that day. Their is nothing that I didn't like about Dr. Boe. He is truly the best. Thank you for assisting in my new life!
