I work with Dr. Boe on a daily basis He is verrry through and includes everything you want to know about the surgery. He will be doing the RNY on me.Pending approval of the insurance. He has a very inclusive program as he and his staff work for BTC. The program at BTC is the only one that I know and I will always support it because there aftercare is for life. The after care program is very structured and has alot of support groups available to followup with. As far as Dr. Boe addressing the risks of surgery he was very matter of fact that there are risks and he went over them all and what the potential chances are. Dr. Boe answers any questions you have or your family has and he doesnot hesitate to be very point blank with the answers. He has a great surgical competence and a great bedside manner which I feel are important in a cofident person

I was happy to meet Dr. Boe. He is exactly as I would want my surgeon. As he drew the diagram on the board of the surgery I noticed how sure and steady his hands were. He was calm and assuring. He answered all my questions and was happy that I had done so much research ahead of time. I have had a couple of times when I called to talk to my BTC coordinator that she did not return my call, but..I get the impression that they are very busy. I'm sure she is doing her best.

My Doctor was Dr. Boe, from the Bariatric Treatment Center in Belvidere, Il. My first impression of him was that he was very open about telling you what would be happening during surgery, and afterwards. The day of surgery he was outstanding, as I was awaiting to go under for the operation to begin he came in and had small conversation and held my hand. Next thing I knew surgery was over. Anyone in looking for a surgeon I would honestly say that Dr. Boe is the best. He came in to see me twice after surgery to see how I was doing. What I liked most is that he didn't treat you as just someone coming in for surgery. He treated you as a person, with respect and care. Out of 100 I would rate him as 100% hands down.

Dr. Boe was very helpful, kind, and patient. He took time to explain the procedure with words and pictures (drawings) and answered any and all questions my husband and I had. I was slow to warm to him because I had had several bad insidences with doctors before. I found him to only improve with time. My husband wrote a thank you letter to doctor Boe and his staff for taking such wonderful care of me while in the hospital. The care was truly impecable. I could not have asked for better care anywhere. The aftercare was important and they mentioned it several times, asking who would be with me during the care at home. They explained the pro's and con's of the surgery and I also saw a psyciatrist before surgery to make sure I was prepared and ready for the changes. Bedside manners and surgical competence were the best I could ask for. I had had hurnea repair surgery on my stomach and he handled it with glowing colors.

I really liked Dr. Boe. He seemed liked he loved what he was doing and laughed at all my jokes. He also was very impressed that I did all my homework about the surgery. He told me everything about the surgery from start to finish, the aftercare and all the risks. He never looked at me like I was Obese, he looked at me like a person. He knew what he was talking about and I believe he is the right surgeon for me.

My first impression of Dr. Boe was great. My questions were all answered and he helped me feel at ease about the whole procedure. I know we all get nervous before surgery but we also have the end results to look to. His office staff was really kind and helpful. And from what I know I would recommend him to anyone wanting to have this procedure done. I know people from my group that I go to that has also had Dr. Boe and too says he is wonderful. If anything changes on my opinion after my surgery I will be sure to let you know... Well as most of you know if you read my profile I have already had my surgery. Dr. Boe is a wonderful Dr. and my GOD bless him. I was a little nervous before I went in and he asked me if I had any last questions before we went in and I asked "Can you please make sure I will see my family again?" He smiled and said he will. It made my heart smile and at the same time I wanted to cry but at that moment I knew I was in good hands. Before I left the hospital I thanked him and he then to was comforting. I thank GOD for a Dr. like him he is truly a blessing.

My first impression of Dr. Boe was that he was very understanding, caring and also very knowledgeable! I was so impressed with BTC & that Dr. Boe came and talked to me direct on the day of the consult! He answered all my questions and drew out a diagram of the procedure.
The office staff was great; they all seemed very nice with the exception of one of the receptionists who seemed a bit annoyed to be there (it may have just been a bad day)!

Surgery is over! I can't believe how great that Dr. Bow was! He came in and checked on me several times and answered any questions that I had. He was very understanding and has a great bed side manner!
I would recommend him to anyone having this surgery.
Thank You Dr Boe!!!!! -)

Very happy I had Dr. Brian Boe as my surgeon for open RNY. I was (for some reason) concerned about my scar being disgusting and he really took time and energy during surgery to make sure my scar was exrta nice. All the nurses commented on what a perfect scar i had!!! Very nice surgeon, would recommend him to anyone else for a professional yet human doctor. Thanks Dr. Boe...

6/24/03 - UPDATE I am continually impressed with Dr. Boe each time I see him. I have never felt rushed. He answers my questions and provides suggestions and encouragement. Not only are his surgical skills great, his bedside manner is wonderful too.

My first impression of Dr. Boe was that I made the right choice in selecting him as my surgeon. He entered the room, looked me in the eye and gave me a firm hand shake. (Give him a gold star for that)

I came to the consult prepared with a list of 73 questions. He immediately noticed my packet of questions and stated that it looked like I had done some homework. Instead of giving me the dog and pony show he said he would like to go through me questions first. That got him another gold star.

He answered each of my questions completely and was candid in his responses, even when I ask him about his own mortality rate with patients. My mom (who have VBG surgery 2 years ago) was with me and he asked her questions about how she felt her surgery went. (Hmmm treating me as a person and not a number, got a another gold star for that)

When I finished with my questions we talked a bit longer and after he was certain that everything had been answered he left the room. I think we spoke for around 45 minutes, and during that time I did not feel rushed or that Dr. Boe needed to be someplace else.

At this point I really don't have anything negative to say about Dr. Boe. He was VERY professional and courtesy.

Dr. Boe is great. He seems to really care about his patients and made special accomodations for me in the hospital. I have only good things to say about Dr. Boe.
