My first impression of Dr. Boe was a good one. He is very friendly and willing to help you understand what you will be going through. From the first visit to po-op he is a great Dr. He has a great staff to I have call there three time with questions and everyone is very nice and always helpful. All my questions where address and the questions my family had were address also. I did everything Dr. Boe and his staff told me to do and I felt that my recovery has been fast and with little to no set backs. I would rate and recommend Dr. Boe and the BTC in IL. highly. I really don't have anything negative to say about Dr. Boe or the BTC. I did everything I was told to do and I was more then ready to start a new life. And with Dr. Boe and the BTC's help I'm on my way.

I went in very prepared and still came out knowing more than when I went in. I am very pleased with him and his staff. Everyone was great. I'll let you know after the surgery about the rest.

I met Dr. Boe at my initial consultation and he was young looking, energetic, and assuring that he could help me. His office staff, though minimal, was wonderful and supportive. Dr. Boe stressed aftercare as an essential part of recovery and success of the RNY procedure. He told me that I'd be taught what I need to know to make this RNY a successful experience for me. He dicussed the risks of surgery and assured me that every measure would be taken to ensure my well being. I would rate Dr. Boe a very knowledgeable and professional surgeon, and am comfortable and confident that he will do a great job when he performs the RNY surgery on me in Nov, 2001.

I was so impressed with Dr. Boe. He gave me all the time and information that I needed to prepare for my WL journey. I was so happy with the Hospital and the care I recieved. Although the clinic is a four hour drive from my home, I am always treated well for my post-op appt. He has helped me through some difficulities that I didn't prepare for and I don't hesitate to call to ask questions when I need answers. I would definately recommend Dr. Boe and his staff to anyone who was looking into WLS.

I met with Dr. Boe on June 7, 2001. I know what to expect with the RNY procedure. My Dad had his surgery in Jan. of this year and I went through everything with him. I told Dr. Boe of my experience and explained that my husband was the one that really needed the consultation and reassurance that this is the right thing not only for me, but for our family as well. Dr. Boe carefully explained everything to us. He was called away about 5 minutes into the consultation because a female patient of his needed his attention in post-op. He explained, after he returned, how this woman had something suspicious on her overies he found durning surgery. This was very comforting, knowing Dr. Boe checked into it. No one really knows what's going on inside them unless someone takes a peek right? Dr. Boe was detailed in his explaination regarding the surgery, the risks, the after care, the new me that will emerge. He did say that it wasn't always successful, that I would have to do my part as well. So far, I have nothing but nice things to say about Dr. Boe and the office staff were very helpful and caring. I am also encouraged by the comments regarding him on this site. (thank you to everyone who is candid and truthful about their experiences.) I will let everyone know how things progress from here. (Still waiting for approval).

8-28-01..>I can't say enough about Dr. Boe. First, my incision is only 4 1/2 inches long. Surgery was about an hour and 10 minutes and his bedside manner is wonderful. We were laughing and joking for 10 minutes before surgery. I liked the fact that he was wearing a scurb hat with cowboys and horses. My best friend Alex was in there with me when he was there and the whole 10 minutes made me so calm. Is is a wonderful, caring man who took very good care of me. The hospital staff were wonderful as well. I had an amazing experience and I can't thank Dr. Boe, Baratric Treatment Centers and esecially the nurses at the hospital for the wonderful experience and care you gave me.

My first impression of Dr. Boe was that he made me feel at ease. After talking to him I felt comfortable with him being my surgeon - I trusted him with my life. My opinion of him has NEVER changed. I would recommend him to ANYONE.

The office staff at the Bariatric Treatment Center was always wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. The only drawback that I see is the wait time for post-op appointments. Plan on spending at LEAST 2 hours or so at the actual appointment itself. Bring a book... because it seems like you wait, wait... and wait some more.

The aftercare program seems quite structured to me - which I like. My surgeon really stressed the aftercare, and made sure that ALL of my questions were answered. At my initial consultation with Dr. Boe he outlined all of the possible risks of the surgery... and even after him explaining all of that - I felt confident.

On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the best... I would rate Dr. Boe a 10! His surgical competence is great, bedside manner is wonderful. He's a great man, that truly cares about his patients... and you can see and hear it with everything that he does.

Dr Boe is young (40's??) and seemed really nice and friendly. I liked him right away. I only had a few questions since I have been researching this for so long. The BTC program does not require a psych eval unless you are currently on many psych medications or if you are seeing a counselor they want a letter from that person. I had a question about alcohol use, since everyone says you cant drink but does not say why. He explained that alot of drinks are high in calorie but that I just had to abstain for the first 6 months post op while my new stomach and intestines get used to the gastric juices. I dont drink, only 1-2 a YEAR, but it is nice to know I can have a glass of wine eventually. The staff at BTC have been so nice and very helpful.

The gals at the front desk in Belvidere were kind of young and dont have the wisdom of years to be as understanding as older people might, but otherwise they were great.

Dr. Boe was very nice. His staff has been wonderful. I first talked with Elaine. She is awsome. Then I met May at the hospital. Also a very nice lady. Kim in the insurance department however was very roud. She also told me she would FAX my info to insurance and did not do it till 4 days later after I called her supervisor.I am excitted to have surgury on 8-1-01.

My first impression of Dr. Boe was that he genuinely cares about his patients. He spent extra time with my husband and I to answer our myriad of questions. At no time did we feel intimidated or that a question wasn't important.
I really don't know much more than this yet. I've only spent time with him at my initial consultation. Follow-up to come.
