Dr Boe is the finest of men and doctors, and if my impression has changed it is only to his good. Btc staff is top of the line and always wonderful. They made me feel comfortable at 312 #'s and at 177. After care at BTC is also top of the line. They all helped me get though a time that to say the lest wasn't the easiest. I am their greatest fan and have sent many of my friends and family to them.
My first appointment was with Dr. Boe on 2/15/02, and as of 3/4 I had pre approval from the insurance company, and on 3/6 final confirmation that I can have the surgery with a letter sent to BTC. AWESOME.......
Thanks so much BTC for your encouragement and advocacy. I also want to thank my sister in law who gave me the idea to contact BTC.
Dr. Boe was extremely knowledgeable and encouraging about surgery. I have had 8 other surgeries and he informed me that I would be ok for surgery. He gave all the details of the procedure, risks, and potential complications. He was so thorough that my husband nearly fainted in the room from the details. Dr. Boe and I couldn't believe it. My husband was grey in color, sweating, and ready to faint. So....he actually was the highlight of my day there as well as Dr. Boe's and the office staff. Each time I call to Belvidere I tell them it's the patient with the husband that nearly fainted in the office. Naturally they remember me right away with a chuckle. Thanks May for all your support too.
I chose the bariatric treatment center despite the fact that they perform the surgery in areas much closer to home. My thinking being that if want want to have the job done well go to someone who only does that job. My husband tagged along with me to learn as much as he could about what to expect before, and after surgery. Dr. Berkowitz sat in the office with us for almost an hour answering any questions that my husband or I had and then just sitting there quietly waiting in case we thought of others. I had already brough a copy of my medical records with me for the first consultation and even though our wait for him once in the office was 15-20 minutes he had already gone over a lot of my chart because he asked about medical things that I had forgotten to mention when I filled out the office forms. He was extremely pleasant and very up-front about possible complications both from the physical surgerical procedure and down the road. All of my pre-op and follow-up was explained to me by the doctor not by the staff. My husband and I both came away with a very good feeling. I am a nurse and have dealt with some pretty "interesting" surgeons, he is one I am happy to deal with!!!
He is a pleasant happy go lucky fellow. He was informative but not too pushy. He didn't seem to interested in my reasons for wanting surgery but was interested in whether I was fit enough.
Overtime I realize that he is a surgeon and not a great listener but he is pleasant and to the point.
His staff is friendly down to earth country people. He works in a very small hospital.
I have no dislikes concerning him.
The staff is very thorough with phone calls ,written info, and help.
Very Structured aftercare.
Yes He explained the risks.
He was fine.
Definitely a surgeon not a bedside guy.
