5. Although you may sometimes feel like you are getting lost in the shuffle, you can keep yourself connected through is support groups which are the best.
6. After care is at least 95% of what he & his staff are all about.
7. He has a very structured aftercare program.
8. Dr. Synder is very open & honest about the risks. He tells it like it is & makes sure you fully understand it all before considering you a good candidate for surgery.
9. With the help of his staff & support groups a 10.
10. In a surgeon I think surgical competence is most important. Bedside manner comes from the support staff.
My first impression was great. Dr. Snyder made me feel very comfortable. My impression has not changed. The office staff is very helpful and some understand the anxiety I am going through because some of them have also had the procedure. The least thing I liked about him was the wait time to see him. I understood though he has a lot of patients and he wants to give everyone his full attention when he is with them. Future patients need to know not to be scared and have questions ready because he is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. I haven't had after care as of yet. Dr. Snyder let me know all the risks of this surgery and like with any other surgery there are major life threatening risks. He put my mind at ease though letting me know they are right there to help me through this and no question or pain is little or stupid. I would rate my surgeon over all excellent. he is very caring and understanding. I think both are important but the surgical competence is a little more important because I would rather have a bad bedside manner than a surgeon who is not sure what they are doing. At this time though I am not able to answer on the bedside manner because I have not had surgery yet. But it is about 3 days away.
Dr Snyder was very profesional and compasionate to work with. He has remained so. The staff is wonderful and always took time to answer my questions. Aftercare is very important to Dr. Snyder and his staff. They have a wonderful aftercare program to help individuals achieve their goal. Dr. Snyder was very straight forward with talking about the risks of surgery. Overall I would rate Dr. Snyder and his staff a 10 out of 10. They do their jobs and do them well. I could not have asked for better.
In my quest for this surgery, I did a lot of research and attended multiple lectures. My PCP recommended Dr. Snyder. She was impressed with his responses to her inquiries as to caring for the post-surgical patient. As I trust her opinion, I contacted Dr. Snyder's office. Upon attending his lecture, I think I was most impressed by his compassion--for a skinny guy he understood quite well the anguish, both mental and physical, of dealing with obesity. I also appreciated his humor--funny, realistic, but never demeaning.
I think one of the differences I saw between Dr. Snyder and other surgeons was his approach to the surgery. It became abundantly clear to me that this surgery was a tool to lose weight--not a cure. The responsiblity had to be mine to use the tool appropriately. A simplistic view--yes, but absolutely necessary in making a lifelong committment to health.
Never having had surgery before, I have no basis for comparison, but in my opinion, Dr. Snyder has great surgical competence. My only slight frustration was in dealing with the office staff. At times it was difficult to get a response to my questions. They were probably just as frustrated with me--I really didn't understand how to play the insurance game. I've learned a lot since then, but hopefully will never need to play the game again!
Dr.Michael Snyder is a wonderful Dr. very comitted to changing ones life thru Bariatric surgery.

Yes
Surgery is a very difficult process for the body and that there are risks as in any surgery and you should be sure that you are willing to take all the risks including death.
I rate Dr. Snyder as one in a million.
Surgical, and bedside manner are one of a kind with Dr. Snyder. He and his staff are there for you thru it all.

I WOULD RATE DR. SNYDER AS A 81/2 TO 9 OUT OF 10
BOTH ARE GREAT
Dr. Snyder was very straight forward, he told me everything I would need to do in order to have my surgery done in a timely manner, and what was expected through out the process. His staff was very nice, and extremly helpful. Dr. Snyder is really big on aftercare, and has a very structured aftercare program. He addressed every risk to me in detail, and made sure I understood every one. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him a 9, I'll give him a 10 once I come out of surgery ok. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.

Both were great and his PA Patrick is the best
My first impression of Dr Snyder was that he is caring , compassionate and has a lot of energy. The only changes over time are an appreciation of his availibility and expertise. The office staff is great and has even gotten better.
What I like least is his tendency to be overly optomistic about how fast things can get done. If it was left up to him things would progress that quickly but the real world is not as speedy.
I have been a member of his support group since a year before my surgery. We have split into many groups and I am the back-up leader for the 2 years and out group.
Finest kind of surgeon. I would reccomend him to anybody who needs obesity help.
