Northside Hospital of Atlanta Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Williams was that he was a very confident yet down-to-earth person that I would be able to speak freely to and ask any question that I needed answered. He never made me feel as if I was being rushed, but to the contrary always asked me if I had any other questions or concerns. Over time, his humorous personality shined through and his caring for me as a person really came through. His wonderful soft-spoken but sincere demeanor encouraged me to go finally go ahead with my revision surgery despite my past negative experiences. His confidence that he could do the revision laparascopically was certainly appealing as well - and he delivered. I am unaware of any other surgeons doing this. Dealing with his office and my first surgeon's was like night and day. His staff is the most friendly, competent group of people I've ever encountered running a medical office. They run a tight ship, but it shows in how smoothly everything runs. I could not have been more pleased with the structured aftercare information we received pre-op, giving us a chance to get used to the idea of what we will be facing and what will be required of us after the surgery. Dr. Williams even has a contract that you and he sign that gives all the things expected of you post op in keeping up with your care - all of this being done in the name of helping you to be as successful and healthy as possible. Although I already knew the risks of surgery, as I had faced nearly every complication you can face after my earlier VBG with another surgeon, the risks were again fully covered with me, both on a video with a T-F test afterwards as well as personally with Dr. Williams. I would rate Dr. Williams a 10 in all aspects of patient care, from his surgical skill, to his bedside manner and communication skills. Although I think advanced surgical skill is the most important to me, it's great to know that I can have both it and a doctor I can talk to who listens and cares. Thanks for taking such good care of me, Doc! :-)
My first impression was he seems personallble and down to Earth. He was the only surgeon to gaurantee he could do my surgery laparoscopically after my open VBG. He and his staff are very professional. All risks of surgery was explained three seperate times and I even had to look at his video before my consent. I have been loosing weight nicely after I was converted to the bypass. It was worth going down to Atlanta.
I loved Dr Hart. His information sessions before your surgery and after you approval are very informative. He doesnt mess around and gets right to the point with the way it will be. He was wonderful when I was in the hospital and he has wonderful bedside managers. He is very quiet and shy, or he appears that way.
Upon my first meeting of Dr. Hart I was instantly assured of his competence. He was straightforward with all his comments. He never let me think for one moment that this would be an overnight fix. A rather quiet man to say the least but very knowledgeable in this field. I knew that this was the surgeon for me, I felt so at ease with him and his office staff. From the time I placed the first call till the time I met them personally I felt comfortable.I would encourage anyone who is seeking this surgery to at least check out this office. I am not saying he will be the right surgeon for you, because we all know if that were true there would be no need for others. All I am saying is choose the surgeon that is right for you. You will know when you find them, there will be an at ease feeling.
My first impression was that he was in a hurry and had something else to do. He's very cut and dry and very quick in explaining the entire procedure to you. Now, I know first hand that he's incredibly knowledgable about bariatric surgery and truly cares about his patients and their success. Dr. Daly's staff is phenomenal! Tammy/Caroline (depends on the day which name she uses!) is so very friendly and helpful! She answered all my questions that I fired off at her and if she didn't have the answer immediately, she found the answer and relayed it to me within a day max!
What I like least about Dr. Daly? When it comes to check-ups I have to wait for freaking EVER it seems! Its not uncommon for me to have to wait 45 minutes to see him -- almost like seeing your PCP.
Aftercare -- Dr. Daly is all about ensuring that his post-op patients take their multi-vitamins and calcium! TAKE THOSE VITAMINS!
Dr. Daly is a very direct individual and doesn't play games. Expects you to do your part -- eat correctly, take vitamins, and exercise! When explaining the risks of surgery, he was very blunt and didn't sugarcoat anything and I reeeeally liked that he was brutally honest. He is an incredibly competent surgeon and tells you that he's competent. I felt 100% assured of his capabilities after my initial consult and pre-op appointment.
Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Dr. Daly a 12! Very competent, knowledgable, and honest. Bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired upon initial meeting but he kinda grows on you pretty quickly. His surgical competence is FABULOUS! The only thing I wish he did differently while I was hospitalized was visit more. Granted I was only in the hospital for 2 days (surgery date, day after, then release date) I wish he stopped by the evening of my surgery.
I chose Dr. Hart after 2 years of research and benchmarking other patients. I was told over and again that Dr. Hart was one of the top two surgeons in the Atlanta area; with both equal in talent. Dr. Hart, even though he is less convenient, was also recommended because of his excellent support staff. I feel that a doctor or any other professional is only as strong as their support team. After visiting Dr. Hart for my initial consult, I know why he's the Top surgeon in Metro Atlanta (at least.) His knowledge and committment to you both prior and post surgery was evident. His bedside manner: Well, let's just say... If you're looking for someone to pat you on the hand and tell you "Poor baby, everything's going to be fine." Not gonna happen. Dr. Hart tells it like it is. Personnally, I like this. I'll take surgical competence over bedside manner anyday. Now his staff is both... comforting, but also direct and they know their stuff.
He was very knowledgable, and straight forward. He didn't joke or take this surgery lightly, but let us know how risky and how wonderful it could be for us. We saw a power point presentation, and then we were taken into a room. The nurse, Mildred came in and asked questions, and then Dr. Hart came in. He asked many questions, and gave me a chance to ask questions also. I felt at ease with him. His staff so far have been wonderful. I haven't been approved yet, but they are so helpful and upbeat when I go in. I have been two times, one being for my dietician appt. Rachael is the dietician, and is great at her job. She will definatly let you know what to eat, and what to stay clear of! They let us know what to expect after the surgery, and how often we would need to return for follow up appointments. I like the fact that Dr. Hart's office is closer than any of the other bariatric doctors. They are going to build a hospital at Johns Creek in the next two years and will have a wonderful Bariatric unit there.
I also had the opportunity to tour the bariatric part of Emory Dunwoody Hospital. I was very impressed, and it should be called the RITZ! I will be going there for my surgery!
