Northside Hospital of Atlanta Bariatric Center
I researched every Bariatric program in Georgia. When I walked into the seminar and met LaTonya and Cyndi, I just had a great feeling about them. When Dr. Johnson talked to the group, he was so personable, so knowledgeable and available after to speak to anyone who had private questions.
My 1st consult pretty much the same impression. staff has been phenomenal in getting everything set up so quickly. I had initially chosen the Sleeve and then decided to go with RNY. Then found out I have a hernia that needs repair; Dr. Johnson said he is happy I had changed because I will do much better with RNY. I haven't had my surgery yet, but at less than 56 hours to go, I'm excited but not nervous. I trust Dr. Johnson and his staff completely. The staff at Johns Creek Hospital also fantastic and I think it will be a positive experience!

OMG! Love, love, love Dr. Richard and his staff! If you live near Atlanta don't go anywhere else. His clinic offers lots of monthly support group meetings and wellness classes (including the new massage therapists!). He has a very well trained staff who give personalized attention 24/7. Never have to wait long for someone to call back and I'm always greeted with a smile when I come to the clinic. The clothes closet for trading is a bonus too. During my surgery visit, Dr. Richard made sure I had everything I needed and that really put me at ease. He is very thorough in his knowledge and practice.

OMG, Dr. Williams bedside manner was great. His office staff very informative. If I had it to do all over again I would with them I the blink of an eye.

I wouldn't recommend this surgeon to my worst enemy. Everything was okay before my surgery, but after my surgery it has been a nightmare. First thing that happen was after my surgery I was prescribed some pain medication that my body didn't respond well to, when I called to office to see about getting something else prescribed, I received a no from a nurse with a major attitude before I even could let her know the symptoms that I was having from the medication. She instructed me to continue to take what I was prescribed. Lucky I was able to get something from my PCP. The second thing is that when I go to my appointments and have questions, Dr. Gorjala seems as if he is in a rush to get me up out of his office and really isn't interested in answering my questions. Third thing is that I was told that my surgery could involve a Hernia removal and this would be included in the letter that is sent to my insurance company with the whole process of getting pre-approved for this surgery. So after this was submitted, a couple of weeks later the patient advocate called me to let me know that I was pre-approved for everything and she went ahead and scheduled my surgery. Two months later I get a bill in the mail for more than what I expected. When I contacted my insurance company I was informed that my Hernia removal wasn't covered because it required pre-approval and the surgeon never sent anything for pre-approval for this procedure. So now I have to pay for this out of pocket, which is way more than what I expected. I refuse to step one foot back into Southern Regional Bariatric Center. Not only do I have to pay this huge unexpected bill, but I have to find another surgeon who would be willing to do my fills for my band because I do not trust that entire staff. Please do yourself a favor and do not go with this surgeon for you lap band procedure.
Surgery 07/2010. The Dr has a good reputation, but the support after surgery was terrible. He visited the patient next door to me, but did not come in to see me...Cyndi was terrific, but it was not her job to provide professional support. Hospital and the surgeon were not interested in providing support for Sleeve surgery.
Dr. Johnson is absolute fabulous...as is the staff at Atlanta Bariatrics. They were patient and kind to me, very helpful and efficient. They knew the time crunch I was on because I was changing jobs and worked with me to get approved as quickly as possible so my surgery could be scheduled. I went to three different seminars for three different surgeons before going with this clinic. I read reviews...I did my research. Everything, and I mean everything went so smoothly. I went to the seminar which was given by Dr. Johnson on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, and just had my surgery on Thursday, March 29, 2012 (Laparoscopic Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass).
I chose him because of his military background and what I read about his follow up care and support. I felt that he really has his heart in this program for all the reasons needed for the patient to be successful for the long run not just immediate results. My impression has only improved with time he is informative, great bedside manner, educates you, takes his time to answer any question you have and makes you feel totally comfortable around him. I haven't found anything that I dislike about him. You should know that as a patient your confidence will only grow with him and he will be there for you he cares. One of the reasons I chose him is that he wants this to be a forever thing not just in the moment but last forever as a tool. He has two locations one in Gainesville Georgia and in Gwinnett Duluth Georgia and if you are a surgical patient of his you can go to either for support groups and staff. He explained all risk before surgery in detail. I can't put a number on how I can rate him but overall I am so happy with my experience I never imagined it would be so great. As far as better, surgical competence or bedside manner, I can only say this I would use Dr. Richard for any surgery if I could they are both great and that is a big word.
