When I began this journey, I was quite apprehensive, however after meeting Dr. Dan and his staff I knew this was the path for me. Dr. Dan and his staff are extremely helpful, understanding, and knowledgeable. I have lost 100 pounds since my surgery 6 months ago and I look forward to reaching my goal. I would recommend this program. It really has changed my life.
I loved Dr. Dan and the whole Summa Bariatric Program. Dr. Dan was very open and upfront with all the risks and benefits involved. The whole process was very comprehensive to make sure I was a safe as possible going to surgery and after surgery. I would highly recomend consulting Dr. Dan for anyone thinking about surgery. I have also had to have some contact with his associate Dr. Zografakis, he was very helpful and kind. I also cannot say enough about their nurse practitioner who has been awesome as far as care and spending time with you. Sometimes Dr. Dan seems a little rushed and short in the office but Noelle (the nurse practitioner) is always there to answer any questions or clear things up further.
First Impression - Amusing.
Impression over time - Kind, caring, intelligent, re-assuring.
Office Staff - FABULOUS!
Like Least - Unwilling to learn or investigate more about bloodless surgery.
Future patients should know - he is very accomadating to your needs and wants as long as they are within his already set arsenal.
Aftercare - is stressed long before surgery and you are trained in much of it before surgery with the notice you are welcome to come back and relearn or further your education on your health.
Very structured aftercare program and lets you know they want to see you at least once a year for the rest of your life after your first years follow ups.
Risks discussed numerous times and put in writing.
How would I rate him/them overall? Ask again after the surgery.
Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?? I am impressed with both so far. Ask again after my surgery on Monday.

Dr. Dan was caring and concerned and is still the same.
The staff is up beat and supportive all the time, I don't know how they do it. Everyone seems to care about your health not just pounds and inches. The face time that you get with the Doctor is sometimes short. When I thought about it and how many people he is seeing in the amount time with each one, it is quality not quantity. I have been seen and blood work done many, many times before and after the surgery. My aftercare and support has been better than any other procedure I had. There were reasons that I had a a fear of having this surgery. I had a bad experience after a surgery early in life. Dr. Dan talked to me and my wife about everything his was going to do before ,during, and after the surgery. When he went over the risks I still felt good about what I had decided. I actually looked forward to getting it done. I told the Dr. after a couple months that would tell everyone that wanted to know, just how good this has been.
I also told him I wouldn't lie. The post surgery pain hurt!!!
I had pain killers and did all the things that they asked me to do. But, for 4 to 5 weeks after there was pain. I guess I should have known it. All of the talking that the doctor and his staff did, there was only one mention of what they said would be normal post surgical pain. 1 to 10 was two weeks of 9 or 10 then a easing to 0. That would have been helpful to know. Overall, the experience has been a 9.5. Thank you so much for giving me back my life. I'm writing this almost one year from when i started my pre-op diet.
I have lost 160lbs. and 14 inches on my waste, and I have 6 weeks until my one year after surgery appointment.
Dr. Dan is a young professional who really knows what he is doing. Although I was a little intimidated by his young age, it did not take long for me to feel comfortable with my decision of surgeons. I felt like I was in capable hands and I was right. I am two weeks post op from laproscopic gastric bypass and my surgery went perfect. I'm healing great. In fact, I went back to work at two weeks! Thanks Dr. Dan.
Dr. Adrian Dan is a very kind and caring surgeon. He is soft spoken and listens to your needs. His bedside mannor is outstanding. He makes sure that you understand exactly what is going to happen and elaborates on anything you may question. His concern extends beyond surgery. He wants you to succeed as much as you do. At his office, the Bariatric Care Center staff are always helpful and kind. The program is designed to help you succeed, with education and preparation both before and after surgery. I was looking to other hospitals in my search for bariatric surgery and I am thankful that I ended up having it at Summa's Bariatric Center with Dr. Adrian Dan. It was the best decision I could have made for my life, my family and my health. I can't thank them enough!
After speaking with a friend who had the surgery, I inquired into the possibility of having bariatric surgery myself. After attending an information class and speaking with Dr. Dan, my mind was put at ease and I was sure that the surgery was the right thing for me. Dr. Dan was extremely easy to talk to and he took the time to answer all of my questions. He and his staff informed me every step of the way and even went out of their way to satisfy my busy schedule leading up to my surgery date. The surgery was an enormous success and there were absolutely no "surprises" along the way. Dr. Dan and his staff at Summa Health care are very professional and experienced and I would recommend them to anyone who is considering surgery for themselves or a loved one. Dr. Dan and his staff truly care about their patients and that is not something I can say about most previous medical experiences. I would give Dr. Dan and his staff an "excellent" rating.
Dr. Dan is the one of the nicest Doctors I have meet. He is very understanding and is truly passionate about helping people reclaim their lives. The office staff is on the ball and is very easy to work with, also efficient. I would suggest Dr. Dan and staff in a heart beat. My hospital stay was exceptional, the aftercare program and follow ups are wonderful. I would do the surgery over again with Dr. Dan. I felt he really cared about me and my concerns. The only negative is I would have liked to see Dr. Dan more times before the surgery.
